    I feel your pain about the fungus gnats in your glass of water. I get some in my coffee all the time. They avoid it when it's hot but as soon as it gets cold, they jump in. I got so tired of dumping coffee, I just drink it hot now 😂

    Is there no way you can grow it like the Sydney Plant Guy does it? He has some great videos on Dubias, and he does it in a way that doesn't require extra space and it doesn't stunt the growth.

    Here is it October and I’m potting up plants. They totally got away from me. I enjoyed watching you air layering. I did it with a plastic cup and soil with my silver sword and it WORKED! Yes, I’m shocked.
    Thanks for another planty video.

    That propagation kit is so fun, it reminds me of the way Sydney plant guy does his pole chop and extensions :) I think people would definitely be interested in some nice Dubia cuttings, they’re becoming more available but can still be kind of pricey. I scored an itty bitty baby vine of it at a plant sale yesterday for just $10, the leaves aren’t even the size of a dime yet but there’s at least 15 nodes for me to work with, I’m so excited to start a new prop project 😍 I’ll have to go back and rewatch you talk about propping your teeny ones 💚

    With the Dubia-Because each newer leaf matures more on your way towards fenestration, I would have chopped off the top 6-8 leaves together and kept those to continue maturing as the mother plant. Then you could prop all the more immature leaves below for your babies. This way you are letting your mother plant continue to mature over time instead of continuously having immature growth

    • @wildfern
      @wildfern  2 года назад +14

      It wouldn’t reattach the plank though and I want the new growth to be able to attach right away. The closer to the bottom I can get the leaves adhered the better the growth will be :)

    • @RoseRose-db2ux
      @RoseRose-db2ux 2 года назад

      100%! Could have worked with just the 3 leaves she had too. Remove the bottom leaf and plant it on a plank and it would have attached basically from the bottom of the plank.

    I just cut my dubia also, it's growing on a piece of live edge. Unfortunately, once it's not attached to the wood the leaves get smaller. I love it though and I prefer it before it fenestrates.

  • @horace6851
    @horace6851 2 года назад +1

    honestly what I'd do with leftover Dubia is to wait until node activates, then cut it and give away. Then wait for the lower one etc. etc. You'd still have the plank occupied for a while but you could put your new cuttings on another plank...? Or flat pole? Btw you look beautiful today, I don't know if it's hair or makeup but I really like the look!

  • @courtney7288

    This Inspired me to cut my golden pothos! It was getting a bit too wild, which I loved, but it was getting tangled and I couldn’t see the bottom bigger mature leaves, and I felt it needed a chop in order to push out and also get air to the soil and help prevent the soil from staying far too wet. So I’m crossing my fingers in hopes the chops I prop, GROW!!!

    I took 1 cutting from my 1 monstera Albo (3 leaves), It had an aerial root and its doing super well propagating in water :) I had another long aerial root on the same Monstera Albo but I did not want to cut it again so I put it in sphagnum in a plastic pot next to actual pot and wow it activated 4 new growth points at the same time... I am soo excited to see how my Albo turns out

    my green monstera has edges just like your albo and honestly I think it's from underwatering, I didn't think I was underwatering it but when I unpotted it it was incredibly root bound (just chucked it in a 30cm pot like what...) so I think the water was being used much sooner than I expected. Just my thoughts!
