low sense of self worth that collapsed into self-hatred through the reincarnation resurrection. Wrecking her things symbolizes that self hatred just as much as it is a metaphor for the reborn identity of a character that is neither villian or hero. if she loved herself & carried self-worth she might not have destroyed her sanctuary but instead simply altered the aesthetic of her home. yes it is sad to watch the demolition of childhood playfulness that represented a lonesome melancholy to it, as a way to cope with the harsh world, her nagging mom, no friends, & her morose & unfulfilled reality; but in order for the audience to enjoy the movie & scene, this childhood playfulness destruction has to be replaced with a hybrid feline/human variation of the mischievous playfulness of childhood, which the Catwoman embodies in an ambiguous manner

@BIGWORM 510 I LOVE Eartha Kitt. But they are two totally different universes. Eartha's Catwoman was more campy, along with all the other characters from that universe. I mean she had a cat shaped car for crying out loud lol. Where as Tim Burton's Catwoman was much much darker and grittier. So it just depends on what you prefer. I was born in 1990 so I grew up watching Tim Burton's dark movies and being obsessed with them, so I prefer this version. Also, the scene where she whips the heads off the mannequins in the department store, she not only actually did for real, but did it in one take! Now that's impressive.

We didn’t, though. You’re just looking in the wrong places. No need to be ostentatious about it.

Nah thats just Tim Burton. He always had his style and nobody even attempted to copy it

Nostalgia effect. Look up other movies released the same year and you'll find just as much junk as today.
Like someone else mentioned, this has more to do with Tim Burton, than the era. Modern day directors, like Denis Villeneuve, still make stuff equalling or better than this level of quality

Michelle didn't get enough credit for this, it's beautifully acted. I guess this was back before comic book movies were treated seriously. If she was in Nolan's films, she might have won a few awards.

The lamp she pushes over briefly lights up the shopping bag with "Shreck's" on it, when it crashes on the floor. Just like she will light up Shreck. ;)

2:45 I remember the first time I saw this being so shocked at what he does. It was just so unexpected it every way - so cold, evil and sudden!
