This movie haunted me when I saw it in the theatres. The struggle between good and bad in both Batman and Catwoman. Bruce could see past it but Selina could not. Romantic and sad at the same time.
Keaton and Pfeiffer are obviously sensational as Batman and Catwoman, but people tend to overlook how devious and manipulative Christopher Walken’s portrayal of this human villain is. Fabulous performance.
I agree. It was Tim Burton with a budget…he followed all their rules with the first film….but this sequel was him doing everything HE wanted to do as an artist, damn the fans and their expectations and damn these big corporations that are just trying to push a happy meal. Love that!
this Catwoman is the best. Michelle P was perfect for this. and I love this character, Catwoman is an anti-hero. she doesnt always fight for goodness, she might pursue her own goas. in this, is her revenge for Max, the other were like being thief, making a mess, being playful. she also saved a woman but that is because of she was sick of Batman(or man) domination in the world. Batman tried to take her home, or to fight for goodness to stands side by side with the law. but she refused to be a hero like Batman, that makes he anti-hero.that makes Catwoman interesting. dont we sometimes feel so fed up with the government? the law? cuz we know that some rich or powerful people have the interference in the law or government (in this story, Max is a rich man trying to interfere in Gotham for his own goals). i keep loving this movie. Batman Returns is my all time favorite. MP is thebest Catwoman.this whole movie is a masterpiece.and the ending was just epic😇😍
Isn't she more like anti-vilain? She steals, does whatever she wants and ocasionally does some good. otherwise I agree, the best catwomen in cinema... :)
+Nothing yet after I wrote my opinion above , I found on RUclips about the making of Batman Returns and a guy from the film production said that she is an anti-hero too 😂😂😂 well to my self. If I were somekind of comic hero, I would choose to be an anti hero too 😂😂😂 it looks fun. I dont follow rules too much. I never liked Superman, too boring. maybe the other example about anti hero is DeadPool😎
"Bruce, I would- I would love to live with you in your castle. Forever just like in a fairytale." That part got me, ever since I was a little girl. I've always wanted to live in a castle, just like out of a fairytale
I really like Michelle Pfeiffer’s cat woman the best. Halle Berry was good, but I’m sorry to say that Michelle Pfeiffer did hers several miles better than Anne Hathaway.. Other than the classic, Michelle Pfeiffer really was made for the role so she’s the recantation of the original cat woman played by Julie Newmar with the final original version played by Eartha Kitt.
Halle Berry's catwoman was very overacted and outright weird while Anne Hathaway's catwoman had absolutely no personality or soul. I do feel bad for Berry though because I blame the atrocious writing more than anything.
Anne Hathaway's was ripped straight from the comics. But also likable. I think she's one of the best Catwomen but yeah maybe there wasn't enough of her on screen but for sure she was a perfect version of the character. Meanwhile Phieffer's Catwoman was even better than the source material. Of course that's a bit subjective and not sure I stand by that statement but point is I think she's really REALLY good.
Everything in the Nolan Batman universe was meant to be more grounded, therefore has to be more toned down than the more cortoonish Burton depictions of Batman etc, so in that Selena Kyle was less cat, more cat burglar. I quite like Hathaway's, but I definitely still prefer Pfeiffer's catwoman.
Michelle should have won an Oscar for this role. She plays a woman unraveling, and that takes dedication. She cries and laughs at the same time, then in an instant goes to sexy and sultry. How did this performance not get the praise it deserves?
For those criticizing that Burton's Batman killed, this was the moment he decided to stop. He saw his own actions through Selina's and he tried to stop her from going down the same path he did. He failed and even in the shitty Forever and Robin movies, he's been trying to atone for it ever since.
+Antichrist2000 When he confronted the Joker he said "I'm going to kill you." Joker in this incarnation killed his parents. And considering Joker showed him how easily fragile some of the bricks were, he knew that gargoyle was just as fragile. So no, he had every intention of killing Joker. He could have killed Max then and there if he wasn't trying to wise up, instead his words were "Shut up, you're going to jail."
Where to begin. First off Batman never says what he doesn't mean. He didn't kill those two thugs because he wanted them to tell everyone what they saw I.E. Him. If you ever read a single comic or watched an adaptation, Batman is often honest about his intentions when he speaks directly case in point when he said this to Sewer King. "I don't pass sentence. That's for the courts. But this time-this time I am sorely tempted to do the job myself!" And that was from the No Kill Batman. This one, has destroyed a building with criminals and scientists alike inside. With the sole intention of killing Joker. This was just after he found out Joker killed his parents mind you, one of the things other incarnations of him are willing to break their rule over. So when he says "'I'm going to kill you." He means it. He said he would kill Joker and he killed him.
What about the big guy that he threw down the balcony under the large bell, in 1989? And what about the big guy he strapped a bomb to, and punched him over a ledge letting the bomb explode on him, in batman returns? Granted though, it's different with the Joker in that way where Batman gave him two choices. Hang on to the helicopter until the gargoyle gives out, then he will fall to his death. Or let go of the helicopter and remain tied up until batman gets to him, and he will leave him for the police to handle, either that, or if the gargoyle breaks either way, and he falls to his death, well so what? He killed his parents, and many others, so who's gonna miss him" what I would like to know is, did he intentionally kill Penguin, or was that just an unfortunate accident? I know the bats were deliberate, but the falling through the window, and landing in the polluted toxic water below, was that intentional?
Michael Keaton and Michelle Pfeiffer are the best actors inside the superhero movie genre. So great they even play other characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I remember the first time I saw this movie. The Bruce / Selena love story was heart wrenching. Michelle and Michael were absolutely perfect! Michelle was absolutely perfect as cat woman!

All memorable performances by the main cast but for me Michelle Pfeiffer was by far the best actor this movie. She lifted this movie up a notch with her unforgettable portrayal as both a psycho+vulnerable Catwoman
Michelle is still the best Catwoman.
What do you think of Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether, Ann Hathaway or Adrienen Barbeau?
Johnlindsey289 Not even close to Michelle
michelle by LIGHT YEARS, better...funny...scary...sexy...(ooh that voice), amazing performance, really shoulda won an oscar or something.rarely a performance like hers. she literally stole this movie.

Unfortunately no. I say we give out awards to actors who deserved them in the 2020 award shows and similiar things. Silver Oscars or something.
Tim Burton made batman movies the way they should be, comic books on the screen, perfect actors for it aswell
She was a good cat woman.

Indeed. If only Batman & Robin (1997) could keep Val Kilmer and Nicole Kidman together, and brought back Catwoman (Michelle Pfeifer)...

Bruce Wayne knew his game and how corrupt he was.
Max is going to jail for what? Yeah the audience and selina know things but no proof and aside from disliking him what does batman have on him? And why did he take the mask off? This finale hasn't aged well
@andrewdonnelly7201 Bruce knew Max was building a power plant to suck power from the city, as well as dumping toxic waste and shredding documents proving he owned land to do so (as the penguin mentioned at the beginning).

Catwoman gave electrifying kiss to fulfil his deathwish :)
That's imbecility suicide.
@@DavidSamuelBl10 I agree that her suicide doesn't make sense in this movie. It makes this movie too dark. I don't have any problem with her dying, but not by suicide!

@@MyidolGwen Well, Max wanted her to die in the first place. So, from a moral POV, if she commits suicide, then Max wins. So, no suicide doesn't make sense.
Leonard Euler True- but after that “electrifying kiss” doesn’t she technically have one more life ?
This movie haunted me when I saw it in the theatres. The struggle between good and bad in both Batman and Catwoman. Bruce could see past it but Selina could not. Romantic and sad at the same time.

Keaton and Pfeiffer are obviously sensational as Batman and Catwoman, but people tend to overlook how devious and manipulative Christopher Walken’s portrayal of this human villain is. Fabulous performance.
He’s really the main true villain of the movie.
This was Tim Burton at his best. He was given complete freedom with this movie and thats why it became the unique Batman masterpiece it was.
I agree. It was Tim Burton with a budget…he followed all their rules with the first film….but this sequel was him doing everything HE wanted to do as an artist, damn the fans and their expectations and damn these big corporations that are just trying to push a happy meal. Love that!
The most haunting Catwoman version
Ikr
this Catwoman is the best.
And do you like Batman The animated series as well? ever noticed how much Selina on the first 3 seasons of that show looks like Michelle?
Isn't she more like anti-vilain? She steals, does whatever she wants and ocasionally does some good. otherwise I agree, the best catwomen in cinema... :)
+Johnlindsey289 ahh never see it before. i will look for it soon 👍😄
Leandro Ciccone she voice acted catwoman for TAS, right?
"Bruce, I would- I would love to live with you in your castle. Forever just like in a fairytale." That part got me, ever since I was a little girl. I've always wanted to live in a castle, just like out of a fairytale

@@jaredruff9823Wrong on both counts...lol.
Halle doesn't count because she wasn't Selina Kyle.
@@jaythe90skyd49 True. It was probably an alternate timeline.
I don't think we will ever see another catwoman this good.
Michelle should have won an Oscar for this role. She plays a woman unraveling, and that takes dedication. She cries and laughs at the same time, then in an instant goes to sexy and sultry. How did this performance not get the praise it deserves?
Yeah that's called CRAZY 🤪

~ I'm a Michelle Pfeiffer Catwoman Fan ~
Ya and he even went the extra mile to kill Harvey, so that Robin wouldn't be tempted to.
Again, he said to Joker "I'm going to kill you."
Michelle Pfeiffer was perfect playing Catwoman. She deserved an Oscar
Back when you didn't need CGI to make a great super hero film
I’ve seen plenty of modern day superhero films and they don’t even leave half the impact this movie left on me
