The original dominates the crap out of nicklebacks! I LOVE THORNLEY!!!!
Big Wreck will always be light years ahead of all these sound alike bubble gum bands. Guitarist wise,Ian can play the stings off a majority of these other so called guitar players from these mainstream run of the mill bands. Yes, it is sad that BW has still not gotten the attention they deserve and Thornley recognized for the excellent singer/songwriter that he truly is. But when you have originality like this,it will fall into a class by itself.
Ian's lyrics evoke so much thought and pain and loss somehow... something must have happened in his life that gives him the gift of writing lyrics that connect the way they do. Wish we could hear the symphony better... can only really tell they're present at the end. Anywhoo... the guy's amazing. Greatest thing to come out of Canada since Rush. Pete Thorn's up there too...
This song is so fucking good
i will forever love ian's old tunes and get goosebumps every time i listen to them. come back big wreck :(
You probably already know, but they are back and better than ever.
very cool to get a reply 14 years later lol. I didn't keep following them in recent years but that's cool to know :) I used to be obsessed@@adamyoung4565

"On loan to Nickelback" hahaha I like that
on their 2nd album The Pleasure & The Greed
Wow - this is amazing - I thought I had seen just about all of BW/Thornley videos - love the orchestra in behind.
love this song, but also the nickelback cover :D
Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto.
Wish there was a HD version of this show I've got the whole concert but the sound could be so much better if it were cleaned up, best tour of they're best album.
Yeah, THAT is the ultimate get! (if it exists)
@@betbuk yea i don't think it does in high quality form which i don't understand, this show was filmed with multiple cameras so you would think there would be better sound, if someone has the master I'm sure it could be doctord up, would be nice. Actully i talk to Forrest every now and then I'll try to remember to ask him about it.
Love it thanks for upload :D
much agreed
honestly, they're like two different songs in the way the two versions are performed
Great double neck!
@ryanpeake93 I'm glad you searched out the original! I'm not gonna trash Nickelback but IMO Big Wreck is just in a WHOLE different universe from them! The studio version of this song is even better. Not that BW isn't awesome live but the mix isn't so great here..
the intro sounds very like " 4th Of July" by Soundgarden on the superunknown
franco saldias i always thought that too.
This and Big Wreck's live version carries sooo much more weight; conveying the profound regret of being in a dead relationship.
Chad has nowhere near the depth to communicate such emotion, so he is left only to reflect the genius. At least he knows it; as a "to the core" Ian fan.
Is there a studio version of this song? :)
Yeah
ARE YOU F----ING Kidding me Nickle Back could never make this song sound any better or write one this good. Big wreck had this sound way before Nickle Back came on the scene. Get the album Pleasure And The Greed "Listen" to it here the tones. A comprehensive sound through out the whole thing. A great show of musical talent as well as sound engineering.
@ryanpeake93 Exactly! :)
@ryanpeake93 yeah, just search for "big wreck mistake" The first one on the list posted by Chevelle559 is the album version.. Everyone who's heard the Nickelback version needs to listen to that one! I'm sure if you heard NB first it might seem weird or you might like NB better.. but Ian puts his heart and soul into it because the lyrics can from his heart and have a personal meaning to him.. You just can't cover that! :)
Where was this recorded? It's great!
@LukaZovko BLASPHEMY!
Hi!
Does somebody tells me the Guitar's tuning of this awesome Song?
Thanks!
Alberto Balboni: Low-high: B-F#-C#-F#-A#-C#
Please stop comparing Ian Thornley to NB. Ian has more talent/musical depth etc.. in his pinky finger than Chad/NB. Fact.
@garyb1703
the one song on the album co-written by Chad Kroeger....
ian thornley has not made a song that isnt amazing
My taste in music is different,should I be crucified for that?
ugh, just like seether did a better cover of "careless whisper," chad did a much better cover of this song...
Nickelbacks cover is better!
