DONALD FORREST WILLIAMS "THAT SONG" BIG WRECK

  • I was the drummer on the first two Big Wreck Albums. I started this Produce Music at Home channel a couple weeks ago to document my life and what I'm up to. Im making music at home along with a full time job, kids etc. I saw there was interest in my drumming and lots of "covers" being done that were great but missing a few details. I decided to have a little fun playing these old songs again and hopefully people will enjoy getting to watch the drummer instead of the lead singer the whole time!! I used to wish they would keep the camera on the drummer more. So here you go, I did my best in the time I have. Not perfect but it has a great vibe...JUST DO IT!!! Enjoy!!

    Those drums are the best 10 tracks ever recorded to an analog 24 track 2 inch tape within the perimeter of the Canadian border.
    Run, Forrest, Run!!!

    I was just telling a friend I wish I could tell that first drummer of Big Wreck that he was bad ass and how appreciated he was. He was a huge part of why I liked them. I like your style so much, perfect structure, could flow with the groove, and accents the perfect parts. A drummer's drummer. Love it. It's like so well done, it's soothing listen to. Love it. Miss it. Still listen to it. You're one of the best. Thanks for making this channel. I've subscribed. The chorus part on "look what I found" and after the build up on "Prayer" are only two of the many, many favorites that stand out with me. I always say I like new Big Wreck and Ian Thornley, but it's just not the same without Forest. Thanks for sharing your talent with the world, man. Still listen to you often.

    One of the most beautiful times I've ever had was when I was 21 and had just gotten my own place. I had a mellow six-pack buzz going one night and I listened to "In Loving Memory Of..." from beginning to end for the first time with the lights dimmed. Probably sounds weird, but it was such a nice, peaceful moment. That album feels so personal to me now. Just want to say thanks for the music.
    P.s. It's so cool watching your form while playing. If that was me I would've crossed sticks and dropped one within a minute.

    Hey Forrest, I'm glad to see you making music. I saw you perform with Big Wreck in Toronto when you opened for Joe Satriani on your first tour. It was awesome. I have always wondered if you were ever offered the drummer spot when Big Wreck got back together? Don't feel obligated to answer this question if you don't feel like it. I am just curious if you or the original BW bass player were ever asked to return to the band.

    • @producemusicathome
      @producemusicathome  4 года назад +2

      David Hyer , Hi, thank you, I don’t even remember opening for him! Geez... yes i was offered the job and was not interested for many many reasons. I would love to play music with Ian and Dave again but i am not interested in the touring, travel , and time commitments necessary to be in the band. I have a great life at home and having a blast doing my own thing. Hit me up anytime on Facebook messenger. Thanks again

      @davidhyer922 4 года назад

      Forrest, thank you for taking the time to answer my question that I have had for years. I totally understand your reasons for not rejoining the band. They are the same reasons why I ultimately left my band in Los Angeles. It was taking too big of a toll on my family life. All the best to you.
      As for the gigs in Toronto, one was at The Government with Satriani and the other was at Lee's Palace with Creed. Both were in 1997. I had never heard of BW and was there to see Satriani, and Big Wreck impressed me so much that I started buying every BW album as they came out.

    Hey there, huge fan! Love the drum sounds and everything you guys got on the first record 1997. Would you happen to have the raw and mixed isolated drum/guitar tracks from; “The Oaf”, “That Song”, and “Blown wide open”? I’d love to hear all those tracks isolated. Also, how many mics did you use on drums for that record? One more question, did you use a 26” kick drum or 28”? Thanks!

      Hi, thank you!
      I don’t have those recordings. Linus owns them now so that would have to go through them. Not likely... what I could do though is pull everything but my newly recorded drums out of the videos i did... I think I will do that. Videos of just drums!! Thanks
      On the recordings it was mostly a 24” WFL or a 26” LEEDY
      Mics
      Top bottom snare
      2 bass drum
      One each toms
      2 stereo pair of Radio Shack MODDED PZM’s ( I sell these on Ebay!)
