Are u fucking kidding me. This was fucking awesome!!
Jared S Yep, pretty damn impressive.
I didn't know that Corey had all 'THAT' and a bag of chips.
Thanks for expressing the exact words I had in mind. This is one great awesome tribute!
Totally agree. The band completely nailed it.
Jared, most def.
it was good and respectful. I like it
Props to Megadeth for their tribute.
Props to Stone Sour for their tribute.
It doesn't matter if you think the tributes were good or bad, it matters that they were made with respect, and both of them clearly were.
RIP Chris Cornell
No one sings like you anymore
wow grate job r.i.p Chris Cornell
Yeah they didn't have much time
agreed. and these guys (who I've never heard of before) did a GREAT job with this one!
its the thought that counts no matter how megadeth did it. it's the thought and the effort
Agreed. Plus, nobody can do justice to Chris Cornell he was a fucking godlike vocalist.
Everyone's rightfully raving about Corey's vocal performance on this, but I wanted to put in a word for the drummer - this isn't a simple song, especially in the breakdown, and he 100% nailed it.
Yeah that half step beat shit is hard to time
@@PunkIAm It seems easy when you listen to it, and then cover it with your band and the breakdown falls apart lol
in one day too xx
Yeah, it's in 7/4, for about half of the song. Not exactly simple. Takes some skill.
@@ronrocker7131 I know that's correct but as a guitar player it's always been easier for me to think of the main riff in double time as three measures of 4/4 and one of 2/4.
RIP
Kurt C.
Layne S.
Scott W.
Chris C.
Who the fook are those guys?!!??
One of these is not like the others
Andrew Wood
And Chester B.
@@Ssssssnakeisone all of them are not like the others
The lyric "I'm looking California but feeling Minnesota" says a lot about Chris Cornell.
Tbarr73 That lyric actually came to my mind when I heard the news- that and Rusty Cage, the first song I ever heard from them when I was a kid. I felt that way when I heard the news, it just fits too well, I think we all look California and feel Minnesota after what's taken place. RIP Chris
Tbarr73 i'm from outside of USA and have no idea about different between california and minesotta. can you explain to me? thx.
Arif Nurhakim Cali is warm and slick, Minnesota is cold and beautiful. (well, cold in the winter anyway.)
I feel like that too..though I'm from Spain and it's way more odd. RIP :(
Arif Nurhakim rite2beararms has it pretty much right on the head with that description. California is warm and trendy, glamorous in alot of ways, whereas Minnesota is cold and very working-class, but a great state nonetheless. It's basically like saying I look great but feel the opposite, atleast that's what I take from the line in the context Cornell uses it
Just goes to show you how amazing of a vocalist Chris really was, when even Corey Taylor is struggling at parts. But Man, this was beautiful.
Taryn Cloud absolutely. He was fucking amazing, I prefer Layne (I love AIC) but he was fantastic.
Taryn Cloud miss Laynes voice.
To be honest, and absolutely no disrespect to Layne or Chris because both were fucking awesome) Corey is my favorite vocalist. He's got such a fucking range, from deep growls to cleans to power clean to all over the shop.
Layne fucking gave it. No man could wail in a pit of despair like he could. He also fucking gave it when he gave it.
Chris was fucking awesome too. Personally, and only for me, Corey is my number 1, Layne 2 and Chris was below the other two. I didn't get into Sound Garden as much as I should have, but I really got into Audioslave.
slaves and bulldozers by soundgarden is enough to close the debate about chris cornell being nr 1
he was good there's no need to discredit him. he had very good control and a distinct rasp but he just didn't have the range that cornell had. that's all.
Taylor has pipes and even he shows how UTTERLY above the pack Chris Cornell was.
@Simón Gajardo Nope, and he's right.
@@BC08 Chris Cornell is one of the top 5 of all time hands down! This is the best vocals attempt ive seen yet! Props
Jacob Smart My statement was in reply to Simon Gajardo. Chris Cornell is probably my personal favorite singer songwriter. Corey did OK, Richie Kotzen is the only guy I’ve seen do justice to a Cornell cover though.
Chris Cornell was unsurpassable in terms of range and power. Only Richie Kotzen comes close to that voice. But this was a good effort from Chris.
Great cover. Not Chris Cornell but honors the original while sounding like Stone Sour.
corey is a good man
as long as people keep playing his songs and people keep listening he will never really die. Chris Cornell should never leave our ears
Stop being so gay.
its okay...you can stay in the closet
John Thotto
Guy Fieri well its working for him . I hate him already.
This was amazing!
Corey Taylor and stone sour just earned my respect big time for this brilliant tribute to a legend
Steve Buxton watch the covers of Purple Rain they did when Prince died
couldn't have said it better. stone sour is not my band, but i can't say shit about this vid
Steve Buxton that was an amazing cover of Purple Rain Corey did, good call...
Patriot Rising how could you say he "wasted his talent" when he put out so much great music? How many other people's lives have you touched?
He left a great Legacy We are not God to judge. Beautiful Audioslave music wouldn't exist if he had not kept it together this long.
Considering Chris' range, Corey kills this. Cheers!
My 22 year old son tragically lost his battle with Mental Health issues and took his own life on April 30th, 2020. I am a huge fan of Chris Cornell, never imagined I'd be watching Corey Taylor with his band mates in Stone Sour in a Tribute video to Chris with tears in my eyes because it's so close to home...
Sorry for your loss
Sorry for your loss
Fuck me it's been an emotional day.
First thing I thought about when I woke up. Watched the sunrise n listened to Soundgarden n had a small tear.
broms316 "like the sun we will live to rise"
do you realize how tough it is to cover Soundgarden?!!!
gbwiz not so much the band, his voice you cant emulate. One of a kind
ask the top musicians in rock/metal/punk etc how easy or difficult it is to cover Soundgarden.
Tyler Parker -- Uh, I completely disagree. Just saw Soundgarden at Fort Rock on April 30th, and along with a stellar set, they finished up the show, the night, and the festival with Beyond The Wheel off Ultramega OK! Chris singing beyond the wheel in 2017 sounded better than when he sang it in 1990, IMO. As ready and shattering as ever. It felt like you could hear him for miles, man.
Augh, this is such a big loss for us as people.
gbwiz loud love from soundgarden... his early shit and amazing af
Amazing how Cornell could still do beyond the wheel at his age. He has been hit or miss live since superunknown. I just think it took him great effort to sing like he did.
Outshined is musically, lyrically, rhythmically and honestly what every current rock musician aspires to. There's not much that tops it. Its rock perfection. RIP Chris, thank you for the amazing music. We will all sorely miss you!!!!!!
Great job guys. Corey did it justice. On a fresh set of vocals Corey could probably do most of it. Chris just had a crazy range and really good falsetto. No one could sing like him.
sullimd Chris Cornell is hard as hell to nail his voice was one of kind. Props to Corey he did a good job. Heck you almost have to scream to nail some parts of outshined.
There's this band that plays at festivals called joyous wolf the lead singer is really good at doing cover songs of sound garden and Audioslave
holy shit, that was tight af
TheRevSRB ikr, it's amazing that they learned this in one day!
BurgundyandBlue1111 they've probably covered it before. how could they resist. outshined rips . Cornell rips and so does this tribute. great job guys!
+Greg Or Jen Yeah, it's a such a powerhouse song. I think I heard Corey say that they learned this song last night. Maybe my ears deceived me.
BurgundyandBlue1111 guess they did. quick learners.eitherway, good job
But really... Anyone that's into hard rock knows this song. I don't mean that as a bad thing but I'm sure they had heard it the million times we had and he can sing it as most of us can but much better! lol
Proud to be a Stone Sour fan this morning!
Dam skippy
buzz me mullato
Let me speak a little on this. We all don't really ever know the artists or celebrities personally. When they die, of course it is sad. But, with Chris Cornell's death, it has seriously fucked me up inside, I feel like he was a friend and I am mourning a family member. I have never experienced this. It is odd. But, I spent hundreds of hours listening to his music and that amazing voice. In my darker years, he helped me get through and get by. He was real and larger than life. I will always miss him. RIP Spoonman.
Well said brother. 4 years ago and still hurts.
It says a lot about how powerful and influential Soundgarden and Chris were that this whole crowd knew the whole song.
Well played Corey, vocals are great, Chris would be proud!
Boabywankenobi :"(
I know, man. :-(
that and Like a Stone (Dedicated to Chris Cornell)" The Pretty Reckless@Camden, NJ 5/20/17 are by far the best tribute songs...
Seelenwinter 666 I agree
Agreed!
Corey has a suprisingly good registry for a guy who screams his lungs out but it's all for the love and mourning
that's maybe due to the fact that he has a 6 octave vocal range thanks to his vocal coaching😂
Dennis Nebel six octaves? Dude, Mariah Carey can sing like a dolphin but only boasts an 5 octave range.
+Joey Coco look it up.. Corey Taylor is at around 6 - 6 1/2 octaves (but not capable of controlling every single note), Mike Patton is at around 6 1/2 . there are a lot of videos of corey's vocal range
Mariah Carey doesnt have a low register, Joey
look up corey taylor acoustic and read his book. His book along with his pipes will no doubt make you a dedicated fan
Of all the people covering Chris, Cory does it the best
Absolutely agree. I love the way he ends it. Definitely balanced out his rocky bridge vocals.... ok that sounded rude.. but Corey is amazing.
Yess💯
Check out Mike Love's cover of seasons and then get back to me. Dig Corey though too
My vote goes for the other corey... Corey glover.
That crowd participation is insane!!!
Stone Sour & Corey Taylor totally rock, no damm question about that....RIP, Cornell.
The best tribute I've heard so far
Christopher Bell Living colour had me in tears. This one comes close.
Wow! Corey hit some tight notes that i dont think ive heard from him like that before! Don't get me wrong, I've always known he's got a bad ass voice but to hit notes on a scale like Chris Cornell, dayum! Freaking awesome tribute
I wouldn't say he got near Cornell's actual range but did a great job still
This was played half a step down too. That's how impressive Chris was. Corey did a great job though.
@@briancrawford69he actually has a higher vocal range than Cornell
The fact that they learned that on the day they performed it and it came out this good just goes to prove the magnitude of their professionalism. Not only that, but it's huge respect to a fallen hero. Legends
Thank you guys. The music industry can be a confusing beast but awesome music always outshines.
To the mighty Chris Cornell & Stonesour & to every fucking awesome band I listen to because my taste in music is the shit🤘
+skoottar "my taste in music is the shit" hahahahaa I love it. Our Rock family at its finest
RIP Chris
Corey's voice is gold I swear anything he sings sounds amazing. Such an amazing performance by Stonesour. Chris Cornell smiling from above. RIP Brother
musicmex power
Just learned that today? That sounded fuggin awesomet!! Chris was one of my favorite vocalist too.
Highest respect to Stone Sour for their cover.
wow this is an amazing cover and tribute to Chris Cornell, Stone Sour should record this in a studio also
Maybe as a B-Side....Otherwise you'd be getting into the territory of taking advantage and profiteering.
Why?
herbie747 Beacause that cover was great... Don't you think?
Yeah, it was good - but it was too like the original to record in a studio - why do an exact copy?
+Alex Larregui Original is better. No need for a weaker version
Don't know Stone Sour (I'm old) but I know Soundgarden, and this was an amazing tribute. Thank you.
Its the Slipknot lead singer's other project.
FilmFanFrank you mean band
Ah, Slipknot ok, gottcha.
Um..define old. Your profile pic looks well below 40. I'm 33 and know Stone Sour through listening to Slipknot. They aren't a new band...
Thanks for the compliment, to my horror, I turned 40 in 2016. I latched on to the Seattle grunge scene in my teen years and never really let go. I don't listen to current rock. Maybe a little Breaking Benjamin.
holy shit - amazing how good Corey's voice is after all these years! Great tribute. RIP Cornell
Colin Masterson Yeah, very respectable cover.
Corey did a good job paying tribute to the incomparable Chrs Cornell as did the rest of the band! After all these years, I still miss Chris so much and still cry about what we lost when Chris went to heaven.. 😭
corey u r the man.
rip chris cornell
this cover nailed it
He was being humble out of respect for Chris Cornell and Soundgarden. Yknow, saying the equivalent of "These guys were fucking awesome and we couldnt do justice to the impact of the origina, but god dammit we're gonna try because we love em, and we love chris."
Nathan Shortland Chris cornailed it
They sound fantastic. This band is a machine and dude can sing well
the first line he sounds like Chris
Bro, nobody sounds like Chris
@@JanoplaxX I didn't say he sounded like Chris completely, I just said that the first line of that song there were some similarities.
@@joshfallon123, that is about as long as most of us last trying to sing along with him in the car. :)
@@mrbean3470 haha yeah
Not even close
Chris would be SO PROUD. You NAILED it Corey. Damn. R.I.P. Chris Cornell. The Master.
Hats off to Corey, he really went for it. Don't be too hard on the man, the vocals delivered in studio for Badmototerfinger were so difficult that Chris himself struggled live, but he delivered.. even to the point of his vocal cords being damaged for nearly two years post tour. R.I.P.
Barnabas Jones
Don't have to be hard on him. Nobody sings like Chris but Corey nailed it. It was awesome.
i think i bit into a onion right now, these next few days are going to be tough :/
Adam Cerutti I am with u man. I only discovered soundgarden and audioslave about a year ago, but cornells death hit me really hard, a lot harder than expected. Ist is so sad that we lost such a great singer and overall human being
A week later the onions are still next to me. :'(
haha yea really, seeing photos and crap from today didn't help :/
Awsome Corey, thanks
Awww, the crowd sings along immediately. Great tribute!
Love it when a band has the balls to cover Soundgarden. Well done, Stone Sour!
Fuckin hell, Excellent tribute.
Music really does bring everyone together. All these tributes for a fallen legend :)
I never even heard of these dudes...But damn it, they brought tears to my eyes...RIP to an epic beast...Mr. Chris Cornell
Out of ALL the tribute I've seen to Chris Cornell - and yes, I'm old enough to have seen him live in Seattle where I grew up, THIS ONE is the best.
Very impressed by this tribute to one of my favorite vocalist and song writers , Cory did this song justice ! Rock n Roll forever !!!
Holy shit. Chills dude, what a respectful way of announcing the song. Well CT & Crew
corey taylor never disappoints... awesome cover nice tribute Rest in Peace Chris Cornell!
How the hell can anybody give a dislike for a tribute cover. This band just totally killed it and brought back the ashes in hours. I absolutely hate the saying here today gone tomorrow, but in this case gone today back today through other musicians. You paved the road let others walk it now.
thanx corey
This was epic! Thanks so much for sharing! Corey killed it!
chris cornell is my favorite human EVER. his music was a part of my life from a child to a man and helped me through so much. thank you chris, soundgarden and audioslave.
This is my first time listening to Stone Sour, the singer is amazing! This is great tribute to my favorite singer/songwriter of all time :(
Compared to his vocals in Slipknot, Corey's voice is so varied and it really shows how much of a fantastic singer he is. His screams in Slipknot match what the band want but it's clear Stone Sour is the one he puts more passion into
So much respect for Corey Taylor. He's real
Chris Cornell's plethora of music has gotten me through a lot of my own chronic depression. I never even once stopped to think if this beautiful soul suffered as well, and what might have gotten him through his own. I know where people are coming from when they say that if you're feeling depressed, then reach out to others. There are many issues with this, we live in a world where people don't necessarily want to listen to what others are suffering through, we live in a world where people like to shit on others, and those who do suffer from depression often try to hide it to the best of their abilities, anyways. We don't really want to reach out, we just want to be left alone and secluded, it's how you spot those who actually suffer and those who just want attention. What hurts most with losing Chris, is we saw a guy who had everything. He had a bizarre sense of smart humor in interviews, he always smiled, said the right things, gave back to fans, stayed constantly busy. He would tour with Soundgarden, then do a solo tour, extend dates, play with Audioslave, set plans for a Temple of The Dog reunion. He was constantly busy, and maybe that was partially to take his mind off of what was ailing him. He could have been in an early stage of an untreatable sickness, maybe he just enjoyed pain? I really don't know, this one is just hurting me so much right now. Losing Chris and Robin Williams are the two biggest deaths outside of family and friends that have hit me the hardest. God bless the friends and family of Chris Cornell, and God bless Chris as well. I'm sorry for my long rant, it just hurts.
bibby42 This his me so hard as well, he never seemed depressed to me, but it just goes to show you never know what is going on inside another persons head/heart. I truly hope he is in a better place now, and that he sees how much he was loved and how much he will be missed. God be with him, his family, and all of us as well and get us through this mourning. ❤️
He left you a gift in understanding the human soul, Chris has soul in spades! Hope you continue to feel the soul he gave us and it holds you firm during an emotional storm
EASILY the BEST tribute I've heard... Period.
DJ Chelleshockd chris cornells tribute to prince was pretty deep
Eddie Vedders to chris was also pretty immense
This made me cry. Very beautiful and touching tribute. I'm an insanely Soundgarden fan and Corey with Stone Sour just killed it!
love or hate the tune itself they did a spot on job given everything. best tribute ive seen so far by far
As completely infatuated with Corey's voice as I am, this made me cry for the voice the world lost in Chris Cornell. Not anyone walking can touch him. Even his brother only comes close.
Brother? I'm not familiar with Cornell's brother being a musician/singer.
Fallout Wanderer 2077 Peter Cornell. Only one song here on RUclips, but it's there to listen. Broke my heart... similar, but still not Chris.
Matt Chamberlain (one of Pearl Jams Drummers from TEN) Plays on Peter's entire album. Released last year I believe.
Huge respect! To have learned that song on the same day? Unbelievable! Just goes to show how much respect THEY have and their professionalism and the love in the music community.
Wow. Corey did justice to this song and more. What a great tribute to an absolute legend from another legend.
Wow.... Not many people can sing Cornell, but that was really awesome.
Richard Gronlie we can all sing it at the top of our lungs FOR CHRIS f.t.w.
Stone Sour nailed it, especially Corey! RIP Chris.
thank you so much for this!!!
Thank you for sharing this.
so so sad...now Eddie last one left from grunge scene....damn...so so sad....r.i.p Chris...you are already missed!!! WE LOVE YOU CHRIS!!! YOU WERE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
For the love of God, you people need to get this straight! Eddie is not the last one! This shows how many people are ignorant about the "grunge" scene. You people seem to forget King Buzz, Mark Lanegan, Mark Arm, and Tad Doyle. Also, you people are direspecting the rest of the band members from the guitar players to the drum players....it's like they had nothing to do with the "grunge" sound.
Are The Foo Fighters not considered "Grunge" anymore? Dave Grohl was in Nirvana too, are they not considered part of the "Grunge Scene"?
He means out of the big 5 of the Grunge scene. Who helped define grunge on a large scale.
Kurt, Layne, Scott, Chris..... Eddie's the only one alive now.
Taimoor Havok ty! that's what I ment..I know Eddie isn't the only one exactly..I guess I worded it wrong...but ty for understanding what I ment...and never ment any disrespect to any of the other artists..
Mooky Blaylock MOOKY! Pearl Jam, is that really you? I won't tell. haha
Thank you for posting this video it's helping me with his loss. 😭
Took me a while to want to hear this. His hearts in the right place. RIP beloved Chris❤️
Love this!
Rest in peace chris
Corey did a great job, you can tell he put his all into it
Thank you for posting!
Props to Stone Sour for a Tribute! Much respect for our Rock Nation!
Thanks for sharing this!
AWESOME!!!
1st time? This was fucking amazing!
RIP Chris🙏
No one sings like you anymore.
Thanks for the tribute! It was amazing.
That was amazing!!! Thank you.
Well done. RIP to one of the greats.
I've got chills, damn
Awesome. Made my day.
Crushed It!!!!!!! thanks
The best tribute i've seen.....thanks for this Corey!
That was brilliant. Well done lads.
beautiful!
Fantastic
Nice! Loved this. Thanks for the upload.
We are so lucky to have Corey Taylor and a heavy music leader.
That was awesome
WHOA!!! Classy! Thank you for sharing!
amazing!!! Like I said in a Megadeth tribute to Chris some days ago, it's not about the performance but the TRULLY REPECT to Chris Cornell, but what I heard;saw here it's amazing! Chris should be proud!
Stone Sour rocked the fucking shit out of that! Hell yes! RIP Chris.
spectacular!
Man. that was awesome!
Beautiful tribute. I've always thought that Chris Cornell had one of the best rock voices of all time.
Great job gentlemen that was impressive!
that blew my mind...so good!
Thank u Corey and Stonesour
