loved the video it was a huge help. I just picked up a used 2200 and i was wondering what kind of paint you used on yours? Also i'd be interested to know how it held up over the long term?
We picked up the fuchsia Weber Q 1200 a couple weeks ago to upgrade our camping grill. I love it so much, I have been grilling on it at home even though I have the Weber Summit 670! I am just wanting to see what it's limits are, and so far I am so happy with the grill. I am commenting to tell you that my wife and I were looking at all the different colors, and we thought the fuchsia color just looked so cool too. It thought it was funny you mentioned the color, cause I really agreed!
Its unique! you don't see that color around much! I love them and find i use them a lot. I own 9 grills and I find myself using these more than the others. they are easy to cook on and since its my wife and I, they are the perfect size for a quick meal!
Great comparison... Thanks for sharing. Actually, I though that differences were just a marketing strategy but I see now there are real differences between both. Thanks again.
They are very similar but yet very different when it comes to size. I was surprised on how much of a difference in size they were between the two of them.
your going to love it! This grill will seriously last you for years and if you ever need parts they are very reasonably priced. typically just cleaning the unit solves all the issues you might have.
Great video. Thanks for such detailed comparison. I'll probably go with a smaller version. Should be enough for two of us. In average how long one gas canister burns?
I dont recall since I never really pay attention but a bottle does last awhile. The bigger one obviously uses more propane but they aren't propane hogs! I think you will enjoy the smaller of the two. I just sold the larger once since the smaller one suited my needs just fine
Yes i have. not very often but it happens usually when i start it up. if it doesn't correct itself within the first 10 minutes i would take out the gas pipe and use a stiff wire brush on top of the holes. Rinse it out with water and let it dry. it should work just fine after that. I hope that helps.
Great video! I am looking at buying a Q1200 for camping but my worry is the height of the lid. If I wanted to do, say, a full chicken, I assume I could not stand it on end but would it fit length-wise? I'm also thinking a plate of nachos. Height-wise is my only concern. Do you have an opinion on that? :)
you will not have a problem with the height of the 1200 when it comes to cooking a chicken laying down or a plate of nachos. With the nachos, you just have to find the right pan to use with the weber because of the unique design of the lid. You will love your purchase. I take the 1200 boating and we love it!
How many can you feed on the Q1200? I have a biggish family but we are very active going to the beach, woods, mountains and sometimes staying at home for a barbecues. Is the Q2200 a hassle to take around places because of its size? And thanks for the video its amazing!
the link is in the description box above. its the weber q light. The one that I show in the video is an older version and they stop making them but I guess you can still find online. They came out with a newer version of this light for grills that were made after 2013 and that link is also in the description box.
Good review. I'm looking for a grill that I can take car camping. What is the high cooking temp. for these grills? I love black diamond shaped grill marks on my steaks. Can these get hot enough for that? I have a rec tec pellet smoker that can barely reach 500 degrees and the grill marks that it leaves suck (and that is with grill grates too). What are your thoughts?
great review thanks for the info, I got a question how is the paint holding up on the q2200? and what was your process on it ,I know you used the rustoleum high heat ultra but what steps did you take for that beautiful finish, it looks awesome!
Its holding up awesome. No problem what so ever! i just sanded it down with a high grit sand paper just to make sure the surface is a little rough so the paint has something to stick on. I literally sanded it really fast and didnt go that deep!
Great video! I’m a single guy in an apartment but i often have friends over and miss having a grill. I’m still not sure between the 1200 and the 2200 but leaning towards 2200 since the footprint is the same, as you mentioned. I mostly do chicken breasts and thighs, and sometimes do cook in bulk, so considering the 2200 for the slightly bigger space. Do you consider the 2200 still small enough to pop in the trunk of a car to go to a tailgate/beach/ camping/etc? Or does it start to feel annoying to drag that big of a grill around? Do you notice the 2200 to burn a lot more gas? Not sure if I’ll get a 10 or 20lb tank or just run the Coleman’s.
the 2200 is a great grill and should suit your needs. I haven't had any issues with taking it out because the footprint is the same as the 1200. The main difference is the height of the grill. I have come into some situations where I had to take the 1200 instead because the other one was too tall to fit everything I need to bring inside of the trunk. The 1200 is what I use the most while on the go because it typically stays in the boat. Im usually grilling for about 10 people and it does just fine but we are not all able to eat at once since I cant fit all the food on there at once.
i ended up grabbing a q2200. i also got the half-skillet pannel for it. i really like it so far, my only complaint is that sometimes it struggles to get up to 400 or 450+ after food is already in there. im not sure if it's part because the steam from stuff is cooling it while cooking, but i can get it to about 550+ before food goes on but then after i close it, it'll struggle ot stay above 400. i have a feeling also that it's because im grilling in sub-30 degree weather. i'll test it out in some 50+ weather this coming week.
Thanks! Would you have time to show us how aluminum, disposable food trays fit inside of them? I'm looking for a grill that would fit the smaller (half size) one. Do you know if q1200 would be able to fit it with closed lid?
Year 2020 now, and now it’s $299 CAD for Q1200. Sold out in all nationwide stores. Online orders only. Covid 19 got everyone buying bbqs and staying home grilling or local camping.
Awesome review. I just ordered the q2200 just from this review lol. What is your opinion on the grill light? Does the cover for it fit good over the lightor does it cause problems?
Glad this review helped! I really like the grill light, its well built and lights up the grates. I don't use it much though cause i rarely grill in the late evening/night. I still wouldn't go without it though. Its one of those things that you might not use all the time but when you need it, it comes in handy! The light doesn't effect the fit of the cover at all. They use the same light by the way.
Thanks for the review. It helped me decide to go with the 1200. It will be used solely for camping and picnics for me and my 2 young daughters. Portability and usefulness are the 2 main factors. It will be packed with a cooler, chairs, tents, etc... I went with the green. It gets here in 2 days and I sure hope its big enough. Once it gets here I'll decide on a stand. I like the one meant for it but think I'm going to go with: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MRIHK3T/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza just for the versatility. I don't think I need anything with wheels. Not really sure yet though.
For us apt dwellers with very limited patio space, the q1200 is the only way to go, the 2200 is just way too big and the q1200 has plenty enough space for just me and my wife. Not mention, most apt dwellers don't or can't use 20lb tanks
Ya no problem. I will post the link down below. The light works awesome and they have held up for over 2 years now. one of the lights was out in the elements all year and I had no issues but I did have to replace the batteries though. smile.amazon.com/Weber-6503-Q-Handle-Light/dp/B000WEPFT0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1490944264&sr=8-1&keywords=weber+q+light
I don't see why not but you need to put a small grill grate down below and remove the gas tube. They make a weber q charcoal version but its been discontinued. Typically you can find them used online though.
I just got a 1200, and I love it so far. I hated the cart. Terribly designed, overpriced piece of junk! It was way too short (I’m 6’4”) and, because the handle swivels, it hit the back of my leg every time I took a step. As for the drip tray liners, don’t buy the Weber brand. I found a 50-pack on Amazon for $16.
Drip pans get expensive as much as you go boating?? How about fuel and oil for your boat engine? Drip pans are literally $0.75 each when you buy them in stacks of 25. 😂😂
Really helpful to see them side by side, thank you for your review.
thanks for watching amanda. Im glad the video was useful
Haha “couldn’t decide so I got both.”
lol.. the wife wasn't too happy haha.
Hahaha so funny
Great video. Good job comparing the two. It really helped me decide to get the Q2200 instead of the Q1200. The bigger size is worth it.
loved the video it was a huge help. I just picked up a used 2200 and i was wondering what kind of paint you used on yours? Also i'd be interested to know how it held up over the long term?
Great review. I've been eyeing the 1200 for my boat. Thanks for taking the time to make this
the 1200 is awesome for the boat. I keep it in their during the boating season and use it every time we go out

great video! Thanks for the comparison. it really helped with making a decision. (I'm going with the 1200).
Im glad it helped! The 1200 is awesome. I actually use it more then the 2400 because its the perfect size for a small family.
which one should I get for 2-4person?
Hello.. great vid.. just curious what kind of paint did you use on your grill cover? Thanks
Great comparison... Thanks for sharing. Actually, I though that differences were just a marketing strategy but I see now there are real differences between both. Thanks again.
They are very similar but yet very different when it comes to size. I was surprised on how much of a difference in size they were between the two of them.
Does grease drip onto the floor from the front edge of the lid?
no I dont have that issue. the only time grease hits the ground is when it splashes from the food.
Great video! This helped me decide to go with the Q2200 for our camper.
just ordered the 1200 in orange with the stand can't wait to fire it up
your going to love it! This grill will seriously last you for years and if you ever need parts they are very reasonably priced. typically just cleaning the unit solves all the issues you might have.
How did/are you liking the 1200 after 3 years? I'm on the fence on getting one soon.
Great video! Thanks for taking the time to make it!
Your welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Tony! Another awesome video sir! What is the model #of the cover for the 1200 q? I just got one for our camper.
Great video. Thanks for such detailed comparison. I'll probably go with a smaller version. Should be enough for two of us. In average how long one gas canister burns?

How many grills u need lol.
I just got the 1200 it is awesome
Nice grills, I just got an electric Weber Grill 1400 for $ 120 clearance..Looking to buy a Q 2200 soon.....
That is an amazing deal! I would have jumped on that as well! All these little webers q grills are amazing.
Do you ever have problems with the flame not traveling through the entire gas pipe for even heat?
Yes i have. not very often but it happens usually when i start it up. if it doesn't correct itself within the first 10 minutes i would take out the gas pipe and use a stiff wire brush on top of the holes. Rinse it out with water and let it dry. it should work just fine after that. I hope that helps.
+tonybuddy123 Thanks! I'll try that out. A video of cleaning the burner pipe would be cool if you could share!
sounds good man. I just filmed me trouble shooting the issue and cleaning the burner. Ill throw the clips together and throw it up tonight.
Just uploaded a video that you asked for.
MarcosJReyna I have a big problem pushinit even do i bought with the cart cause is to heavy does not have long handles

I’m in the same situation, I’d love an answer to this too. What did you end up getting and are you happy with the size?
What light is on the 1200?
the link is in the description box above. its the weber q light. The one that I show in the video is an older version and they stop making them but I guess you can still find online. They came out with a newer version of this light for grills that were made after 2013 and that link is also in the description box.
Nice review! exactly what I was looking for, Thanks!
your welcome! Regardless which one you choose, your going to be happy with the grill!
Hey great vid. Question: Does the 2200 use a load more gas??
I havent noticed it use more gas but im sure it does since it's bigger.
I just posted a video showing how hot they get and how long it takes.

Your welcome! Sorry for the crappy audio!
Great review!! You covered it all. Nice job:)
thank you!
Not sure if you mentioned it or not, what is the weight difference between each?
The q1200 is just a little over 30lbs and the q2200 is just under 45lbs. That is without the cart.
Awesome review. I just ordered the q2200 just from this review lol. What is your opinion on the grill light? Does the cover for it fit good over the lightor does it cause problems?

what is the weight difference from the 1200 an 2200?
The weight difference is about 11 pounds or so. Not much but enough to notice the difference right away.

So you've had the 1200 for two years now, happy with the size or wish you'd gotten the 2200? How's the 1200 held up?
Hey just wondering what cover did you use for the Q 1200?
www.weberbbq.com.au/weber-accessories/baby-q-cover/
Matthew Rushe thanks!!

Thank you ,,great video.
Great informative video, but please use a better camera next time, it was very choppy and hard to focus.
thx for video bro
Your welcome!
Get the q1200 for the beach and the 2200 for the house.
could you give the handle light link to buy the light for both models ? Thank .
Ya no problem. I will post the link down below. The light works awesome and they have held up for over 2 years now. one of the lights was out in the elements all year and I had no issues but I did have to replace the batteries though.

Q1200 fit a full rac of spare ribs? Or would it be to small, trying to decide which one i want to get, any info would be appreciated
q1200 might be a little tight for a full rack. The 2200 would fit a full rack. If you cut the rack in half you might be able to fit it in the 1200
Should upgrade the mic first
I made the mistake and had the cover on the mic. I didn't want to reshoot the video and decided to upload it anyways. Sorry for the lack of sound.
Do you think I can use it with charcoal?
I don't see why not but you need to put a small grill grate down below and remove the gas tube. They make a weber q charcoal version but its been discontinued. Typically you can find them used online though.
this guy has grills on grills on grills!!!
If the wife says that color is good, I'm good, but I'll have to compile a list of excuses so I don't have to be seen with it in public. :)
If you're a single guy with that color in a campground...you're gonna attract more than 4 legged critters LOL:) Beware!
209.99 and 269.99 now
I just got a 1200, and I love it so far. I hated the cart. Terribly designed, overpriced piece of junk! Speak up man.
Sorry man. the mic was covered and didn't realize it until after I shot the entire video
Grill fetish? Lol
more like grill obsession haha..

notification gang!!!???
You need to talk louder
Ah sorry this lens it waaaay to wide to get a feel for the sizes.
