I got a q2200 last spring soon after you influenced me to start with the q1200. I love them both. Thank you city griller! My q2200 is however grass green, I found a rare John Deere Edition with the logo handle. You made me a back yard star!
A John Deere green edition sounds awesome! Cheers Duckie!
I rescued an abandoned Q2200 several years ago. Cleaned it up and replaced the handle and knob. Works great. I liked it so much I bought the Q3200 for home. Now the Q2200 is my camping/tailgate unit.
Nice! I haven't tried the 3200 yet. Not sure the wife will let me buy another Q. Lol!
I bought my 2200 used as well for $65 used only a few times. I've had it for 2 years and its great. Made filet mignon tonight. You were the reason I bought it.
That's a great deal! Cheers!
I own a Q2200. I think it's perfect for a small patio and cooks nicely for 2 - 4 people. It's also portable enough and gas efficient. On the other hand Q1200, is ok for 2 people though you can't easily have your meat cooked together with veggies. But it's ideal for beach and camping anf of course for a fire escape😀. Thank you for this very interesting comparison and of course... keep on grilling🤗
Right on, Lefteris. Keep on grillin'
I bought both. Titanium Q2200 & Red Q1200... just like having different fishing rod for different fish 🐟 both great gas Grill...in Australia 🇦🇺
Very nice! For now, I'm keeping both. We'll see if that changes in the next year or two.
My wife won the q2200 in a draw. So it is going to be a companion to her travel trailer. Her trailer came with a small griddle so I am looking forward to eating well this camping season. Thanks for the reviews and I enjoy your cooking vids.
The Q2200 is a great grill. I use mine all the time. Cheers Treavor!
Now that! Is a good raffle
@@veganwaffle it was! It also came with $300 worth of assorted meat.
Hey City, thanks for the comp. I do have a Q1200, I think I saw the 2200 at Costco, I took a quick peek at it. The high temp is definitely great for the steaks and quick sear. I am a BBQ junky, I have 3 Weber gas grills, and 4 Weber charcoal grills, 2 Santa Maria's....that nuts because it's just the 2 of us...but still tempted to get one.
Don't underestimate Q1200, it can feed more than two. Q2200 is beast with two heaters (ony advantage with bigger size) but 1200 works great for 2-4 people. 😉
I've only cooked three times so far on the 2200, and I really like it. I also have the griddle for it and the extra space I find very helpful. Currently own three grills, but I can see the addiction to adding grills. Lol!
@@miijauhr Yes Your right about that, I love the 1200 it's a gem....they never break either, mine is 9 years old.
I have the Q200 and the Q100 both shorter lids and no temp gauge, also have my 1997 Weber 18.5, 2 weber 22.5 and Weber 26.75, Weber CharQ, Kamado Joe Jr, 2 Cobb grills large & small, Weber Jumbo Joe, Blackstone 22inch griddle-Yeah out of control lol
@@scottroberts3705 Yea sir, i get it...I can't stop buying more cooking grills, blackstone grill, and 3 little portable butane burners.
Q1200 for me all day long. I love mine.
The Q1200 definitely has a colt following. Just a really great little grill.
i am getting a red Q2200 in a few days here in NZ. good video .Cheers
Enjoy your new Q! Great little cooker. Thanks for watching in New Zealand. Cheers!
I bought that one 3 days ago here in Welly and will fire it up this labour weekend....red lid looks great is why I chose it...smashed burgers soon..mmmmm
Q2200 is a great Q. Just purchased a Q3200 which is a better option catering for 8+. The central gas burner is great for low and slow roasting.
Right on man. I've not tried the 3200 yet, but I hope to at some point. Cheers man!
Nice video. I got lucky on a Costco deal. It came with the q2200, the same stand you have for the q1200, and They also threw in the large gas propane tank hose extension. I like the q2200. Just want to paint it black the same way you painted your q1200.
Yeah, that color on the 2200 isn't the best. Congrats on the Costco deal. Hard to find deals on Weber grills.
Thanks for the interesting video! I would say the Q1200 is a good size for most uses with a portable gas grill! You can always cook several times to feed more people! With the smaller burner, you will not need as much gas! Looking forward to seeing you prepare more great items with the Q2200. Best wishes and regards! Cheers to you and the Mrs. 🍷🍸🍺
Great point! I imagine the Q1200 has much better "gas mileage." Cheers Bill!
Really enjoy watching your Weber Q videos! Just wanted to share that I have had a Weber Q 1200 for less than a year, and when I have run mine on the lowest setting, it does get hotter than yours here - mine is 400 degrees or a little more after 20 min, and 325 to 350 degrees before that.
Make sure you poke a pin or tack through all of the holes on the burner tube at least once or twice a year. You probably want to take off the burner tube every now and then and empty it out. Will help with your temps.
I have a Q1200 but tend to run it from a 13kg (28.6lbs) propane cylinder when at home using a Weber supplied connector. It gets much hotter compared to when using the disposable cylinders.
Interesting. I've never tried a tank that big. I wonder if it has more pressure. Anyway, cheers Mark! Appreciate the comment.
Still loving my Q1200. Makes great grilled pizza and awesome for the basics like burgers, hot dogs and steaks. I still need the cart. Wish they made a 2200 style cart for the 1200
I use my Q1200 all the time for lunch, reheating pizza, burgers, dogs, fish, etc. I love it.
That is also my issue while trying to decide...I LOVE the cart that the 2200 is on...it may just be the deal breaker to not get the 1200. Gotta love all those color choices for the 1200 though. Hmmm...great video CEG,er! Thank you...
I bought a q2200 In Australia.I got a black one which I like more. I enjoy your videos.
I wish Weber had a black version available here. I would love that.
I would not trust those lid thermometers for head to head testing. Please add electronic thermometers also as a reference for grate temps. Great video as always.
Thanks man. I agree. The lid thermometers are very much approximate.
The Q2200 comes in Red, black and the Titanium here in Australia. Ive got the Red.
I may need to paint mine. The Titanium is a bit boring. Cheers man, thanks for watching in Australia!
@@GallaghersGrub No mate thank you! You're a legend. Love the Q and your videos.
I just bought the weber q2200 with the rolling stand on clearance at costco for $200….. it seemed like a good deal…..i already have a weber genesis…..but since its just me….i don’t need it….so a friend offered to buy it off of me…… i hope the 2200 works! But costco said i could return it if there was a problem!! Happy grilling!
I think you'll like the Q. It'll probably use less gas than the Genesis, and the 2200 can still cook for a few people if you ever have anyone over. Cheers!
I have the 1200 it’s great for just the two of us also we take it with us in the motor home so weight and space is important to us
The 1200 is perfect for two, and really is better for taking on the road. 100%.
had our 2200 for 7 or 8 years. 😻. best rv grill we have owned. easy to clean. although it is heavy.
Right on! Perfect for the RV life. Cheers man!
Bearding up for winter? Lol
Still gonna go with the 1200. With just the girl and I, it's the obvious choice.
Thanks for sharing, we all appreciate it!
Good choice! Can't go wrong with the Q1200 and it gets great "gas milage."
I've had the Q1200 for 8 to 10 years. I quickly bought a 20 lb tank conversion hose for it. Those little canisters are expensive and their performance tails off after the first use. I used to refill them, but that got old fast.
It has held up well except for the aluminum grease drip pan. The drip pan is too small. It is a hassle to clean because the grill stays hot for a half hour or so after cooking. The grill continues to drip grease into the drip pan for at least a half hour. So I don't empty it out right away, and then I for get about it until after it has rained. Then the drip pan is overflowing all over the patio. The disposable aluminum liners are a cost I prefer to avoid. Yep, I'm cheap, I mean frugal, like that. To solve these problems I put a large steel bowl (made as a water pan for a kettle smoker) below the grill. I set the grill on top of a steel expanded metal patio table.
The plastic wings are extremely flimsy and almost useless. I only use them because they are there, to set my matches down (yes matches) and sometimes a spatula. I just haven't gotten "a round tuit" for removing them. I'm afraid they will break off if I so much as set a full stainless steel vacuum drink cup on them.
The igniter failed years ago. For the price of a new igniter I can buy 10 lifetimes worth of matches. The only problem with matches is that you have to remove the cooking grate to light it. I have used a butane grill lighter through the grate slots, but that is not any easier than removing the grate. I made a couple of heavy wire hooks to lift the grate off in case I have to relight it when the wind blows the flame out.
Every thing else about it works as well at the day it was new. There is NO RUST, not even on the burner tubes. It cooks very well. It is not very good as a smoker because the flames don't get low enough.
QUESTION:
Speaking of using it as a smoker...has anyone out there tried to lower the lowest heat setting by partially closing the tank valve or by plugging some of the burner holes?
I have not tried to get the flames any lower. I think they'd just go out. The starter on my 2200 doesn't work either and I use a long lighter.
The plastic side tables... That's where I put my beer.
Be sure to check out my Restoring video series. A three part series on cleaning and restoring Weber Qs. Just uploaded the third one today.
Most gas grills have the lowest burner setting that won't blow out.
Very Good video, I have the 1200 and love it only cooking for 2 people .... But one thing about the Q grills is the burner tube is not covered and all the drippings go on it, with that said it needs to be cleaned often depending on usage.
Thanks for watching Dan. The Q1200 is a great little grill for two people, for sure. Yes, the burner tube needs to be poked every now and then. Cheers!
great review. i have an old q2200 and the wing shelves would not hold a ceramic plate, it would bend sideways. took them off and it now lives in the RV.
Right on. Be sure to check out my three part series on restoring and cleaning Weber Qs. I think you'll find it interesting. ruclips.net/video/B5gfvDIoUkU/видео.html
My old tables were not that bad but for security I just prop them up with dowels. With that I can put what I want on them. Problem is that they are slippery so need to put a towel or some such on them first before putting a dish or whatever on them.
Great review as always .4/5 of us so went for the 220 great choice!! Oh and here in UK it only available in black.
Black, really? Now I'm jealous. This "titanium" color isn't the best. Still a great grill though. Cheers Craig!
The Q1200 puts out 44.97 BTU per square inch vs 42.85 on the Q2200. In theory the smaller grill should heat up quicker here, you might have a faulty thermometer.
Possibly. The thermometers do collect grease.
Cool video. I'm considering the Q3200. I big step up from my current 22" Weber kettle (which I still love and will keep).
I really like the Genesis II S-310. Yeah, it's a bit more $, but it's really nice.
I have experienced and read a lot of issues connecting the adapter hose to use the large tanks with the Q grills. I just got a brand new regulator from Weber and I am hesitant to use the adapter hose that could screw up my new regulator again. Should I be a wimp and just use expensive bottles or dare to use the adapter hose again?
The only issue I’ve ever had was rodents gnawing holes in them. Never an issue with the connection. Definitely go for it. You’ll save a lot of $.
I consistently feed 4 people with the 1200
Nice. It's a great little grill, and you're making the most of it. Cheers!
I have a 2200 with the same collapsible stand you have on the 1200. I use it for car camping and a supplement to my Weber Genesis.
Qs are definitely great for taking on the road.
Just got back from Costco and bought the Q2200 for $300. Came with stand and adapter hose already.
Feels pretty good getting a deal like that. Congrats!
Thanks for the video as it what I was after to help decide. A pity Weber don't help with this info in Australia.
The Q1200 is much more portable, but the Q2200 gives you more space. It's a trade-off whatever way you go. Cheers!
Love this review! I wouldn’t mind it if you did the chicken wing test (how many wings fit on each grill). I think the 1200 fits about 18-20 comfortably.
It is football season so I like to use mine mostly for tailgating. (I have the 1200 but I wanted to get a used 2200 and paint it Giants colors with high heat paint)
Good point. These grills need to be loaded up with wings! Would love to see your Giants Q when you're done. Could have beaten the Steelers last week. Hoping for a W this week against the Bears. Cheers man!
City Escape Griller we may have a chance! (Fingers crossed) bears ouside linebackers have injuries so they may not play.
good comparison. I have the older model. it sucks I am in apartment otherwise I will use the grill 2-3 a week.
Same here. Once we close up the cottage for winter, I'll be in the city with nowhere to grill.
Loving these videos! How long does the propane cylinder last in the 2200 compared to the 1200?
Thanks Wade. I'm not sure. Haven't done that test yet. The 1200 gets 3:45, so if I was to guess I'd say the 2200 would go about 2:45 - 3 hrs.
I think that if I were a gas griller I would choose the smaller one. Thanks for sharing.
I love charcoal grilling as much as anyone. But the convenience of a gasser comes in handy. Thanks for watching man! Cheers!
When I want to grill at max temperature on my Q1200 and I preheat it for 15 minutes (gas control knob on lightning bolt) do I leave it on that setting? Thank you. Great content!
Yes, leave it on the lightning bolt for high heat. Cheers Neven!
@@GallaghersGrub Thank you CEG! I have tried it. Grill heats up > 300 C° but as soon I open the lid, put the meat on, the temp drops to 230 C°. It pretty much stays in the range of 230-250 C° for the whole grilling process. Is this normal?
@@nevenmiskulin Same with mine.
hello, congratulations for the review, which gas bbq would you recommend (not too expensive) for slow cooking at low temperatures? thank you
Neither of these for slow cooking at low temps. You need a grill with two or three burners. I'd recommend either a Weber Spirit three burner, or a Weber Genesis II. Also, you can look for a used Weber gas grill with multiple burners, preferably three. Cheers!
@@GallaghersGrub thank's
I just bought the 2200 with the cart like you have on the 1200. Still have to put it together. Do they both use the same burner ?
The 2200 has the same shape burner, just bigger.
Ok thanks!
Can of paint can go a long way. You do only get 2:45 to 3 hours of burn time on a small tank.
I may need to make a video of the small tank on the 2200. Thanks fro watching Juan.
Hi thank you for the video!! My question is how long do the 1 lb cans of gas last in the q1200, we just bought ours and it should be here Monday!! We are so excited!!
You're in the right place. Cheers! ruclips.net/video/rKzj-U-8UyE/видео.html
Missed these vids. Thanks!
More to come! Thanks for watching Sarp.
I expected there wouldn’t be much of a difference other than capacity. Surprised at the max temp difference. I now expect you’ll be doin a steak 🥩 comparison test between the two. ☺️
The flame is quite a bit bigger on the 2200. I was surprised as well. Steak comparison on the way. Lol!
Thank you Brother!!! Much appreciated
Any time! Thanks for watching.
Always remember, A larger BBQ can cook smaller amounts, but a small BBQ cannot cook larger amounts.
I found the Q220 too big to ever really consider it as being portable. Using it at home I sometimes wished it was a bit bigger and had more BTUs. I sold it and replaced it with a Q120 AND a Q320.
I can see why you went that direction. Makes sense.
really good review, do the side arms come with both models? can you take them off? keep on grilling man
Yes, the side tables come with all new Weber Qs. They are attached to the grill and fold in so you can tuck them under the lid when traveling.
GREAT JOB!! Where did you find the used 2200??
Facebook Marketplace. Great deal!
@@GallaghersGrub Thank you a lot!!
I love my Q2200! Awesome video!
Me too. Wondering if I should keep them both this year. Hard to decide which one to get rid of.
Hi, thanks to your great videos, I got my Weber Q1200 enough for me and my wife. I get it to 400 deg in a few minutes but I can’t seem to get to 500 deg. Is there a modification I can do to get it to 500 deg. Maybe buy ( I wouldn’t know where from) the Q2200 regulator?
You can take off the burner tube. Check out my Weber Q spring cleaning video. There might be some gunk in there you can clean out. Also push a pin through all of the burner tube holes. Hope that helps.
@@GallaghersGrub Thanks for taking time to respond.
But Mine is brand new. I have no accumulation of gunk at all
I also bought a used one for 50$ almost new love it..Q2200
Great deal! Cheers!
Does the 2200 q have a griddle accessory?
Yes, but it's sold separately.
I know for a fact the 1200 is gonna do my grilling needs justice
The Q1200 is a great every day grill for 1-2 people. Sometimes even 3 or 4. It's also perfect to take on the road.
We bought the q2200 2 years ago , best decision ever. Great for when you host friends over.
Only owned the 2200 for a week and already loving it.
Thanks. I’m going for the 2200. My 25 year old Genesis Silver has expired 😢
Costco has the Q2200/Black with stand and propane hose for $289 right now. Check it out.
That's a great deal with the stand and hose.
Costco still has the same deal. Just picked up one yesterday. I love my 1200 and will switch it to portable use only, so if the 2200 works as well or better, I will be very happy.
Mine had it marked down to 199 today! Eyes almost popped out I bought their remaining stock
In your December 2016 video review of the Q1200 you showed a temperature of 450F and mentioned that you have had the temperature up to almost 550F. I am also puzzled by the maximum temperature difference between the two grilles because the both have about 45 btu's per square inch. Is it possible that the Q1200 thermometer was wrong?
My guess is that the more you use these grills, a layer of grease forms on the built in thermometers and that affects the readout. I'm not sure. The bigger Q2200 definitely gets hotter, but the Q1200 can still sear up an excellent steak.
Thank you
You're welcome. Cheers!
Great review! Would love to have seen you demo the cooking area by laying some burgers on each - gives a good context ;o). Cheers!
Thanks for the suggestion. Next time. Cheers!
Very interesting videos. I've been trying to make a paella on my Q1200, which I've only had a for a couple of months... it doesn't get hot enough to heat the pan. I don't know if it's because I'm still using the 500g portable gas canisters, maybe I need to use a 5kg gas cylinder. I will convert it anyway. Is the Q2000 able to heat up a pan to make paella? I'm wondering if I should have gone for the Q2200. From what I've read, the power for the Q1200 and 2200 is 2.56 and 3.56 kW respectively, and a small paella burner is at around 6 kW, but if you or anyone have tried to make paella on the Q2200 and succeeded, I'd be interested to know. The second thing in your video is the size. I guess that in addition to the number of people, the amount of grilled foods that they tend to eat could be taken into account. I've made kebabs and grilled shrimp for 4 adults and 2 kids (4 and 5 years old) on the Q1200, but we had rice and salad on the side. That said, it was just twice,. Most of the time, the Q1200 is fine for cooking for myself, wife and daughter, and at the same time, I feel that I'm not really pushing the grill to anywhere near its limits, although as before, we tend to have side dishes not cooked on the grill. If we were talking about certain neighbours and friends, however, who barbeque a lot, and eat a fair amount, then it's clear that they'd need the 2200, even though the two families are of the same size. Anyway, thanks for the videos, I really enjoy and learn from them.
With the Weber Q, you need to close the lid every time you grill. If your paella tray is too big to close the lid, it will not get hot enough to cook. The Q2200 will close with a bigger paella tray than the 1200. Hope this helps. Cheers!
@@GallaghersGrub Thanks for your reply and this info. In the end, I bought a charcoal Weber Compact Kettle 47cm to make paella. My Q1200 will be for camping and picnics, and quick impromptu grilling at home. Having both will also allow us to receive a larger number of people. Cheers!
Hmmm missing the Q3200 here (two burners, one for middle and one for edge).
Maybe I'll add one of those some day. But for now, it's just two Qs for me. Lol!
Would love to know the temp difference of the grates for searing, Cook a simular steak on both of them and compare the sears, I bet the larger one does a much better job. There is a 40% btu/h difference between the grills, and the grate surface areas have a 48% difference, so Weber did this right, (Unlike their terrible design of the Genesis EP310 which is lacking big in the BTU/H output and has difficulty in the winter months and the steaks are delicious but always look pale, )
Great point! I was never a fan of the EP310. But those new Genesis II's are pretty sweet.
I got the 1200 and it’s the perfect traveler for me and my fiance
Yes, the Q1200 is an excellent little grill to take on the road, and it really does a great job cooking. Cheers Veganwaffle!
I'm a single steak lover, wondering how many meals I could get out of a Q2200 on high before a 1 lbs. tank runs out. I think 2 for sure but can it do 3?
I haven't tested the time you get on the Q2200 with a single 1-lb tank. The 2200 heats up faster than the 1200. You can get it to full heat in about 8-10 minutes vs about 10-12 with the 1200. Each room temp medium sized steak will cook for about 3-4 minutes per side for medium rare.
If you don't actually leave the gas on due to beer, you'd be shutting the gas down within 20 total minutes. So I'd guess you could probably get at least 5 steak cooks with the Q2200 on a 1-lb tank, maybe more.
@@GallaghersGrub Thanks and you can count on leaving the gas on due to beer lol.
I’m guessing the 2200 has an extra burner to get that 12000 btu and probably uses more gas as it heats up faster.
The Q2200 is a single burner grill that definitely uses more gas than the Q1200. For two burners, you need to go up to the Q3200.
Wow, Great Review!!! Nice to know Not to use the Weber for “Low & Slow”✅. GOD Bless you!
Thanks for watching! I use my Weber Kettle grill for low and slow. Can't beat that charcoal and wood smoke flavor.
Great video mate 🇬🇧
Thanks Stuart. Always appreciate hearing from you.
You probably don't know yet, but wondering how long that little propane tank will last in the bigger one?
Not sure, but I would guess the tank on the 2200 would last substantially shorter.
I just bought the q2200 on your advice, when I started to assemble it I discovered that it had the lid of the 2000. I closed everything and returned to the seller ......... hello everyone and good grill
The higher domed lid and thermometer make the 2200 a far superior grill to the 2000. Good for you returning it.
Can the q2200 run off a 1lb propane tank without adapters?
In the U.S. it can. The 1lb tanks screw right in. In other countries, I'm not sure.
Is the stand for q2200 hard to put together?
No. I'm mechanically inept, and I assembled that stand in about 10 minutes. Excellent instructions, everything fits.
I bought mine used so it was pre-assembled.
Can you put a standard propane tank on these guys! Thanks
Yes, you need an adapter hose. I have a video about that as well. Cheers!
Great vid mate! Thanks
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching Keith.
the heating up times for each one is ridiculous.
I agree but these aren't huge BBQs either, I started with the Q120, got 12 years out of it (still can get parts i'll likely use it for camping after i fix it up) I have the Q3200 now and to get to 550 degrees now takes about 10-12 mins my Q120 (to which i think may have a bad reg) took like 20-30 mins to get to 400 and could hardly maintain it. The Q's are solid BBQs I love mine but they arent too powerful, Even the Q3200 is 21K btu and the Q120 is only 8500btu so your gonna have to wait a little bit.
It's my understanding that these 2 units are engineered to operate identical. For instance, a high heat setting on the 1200 should produce the same temp as the 2200 when the knobs are both set equally. Maybe you should explore the possibility that one of the thermometers are off. I purchased a Weber Genesis 320 in 2009 that had a bad thermometer, and it would never register above 500 even though it was operating at 600. You could even tell by how the needle was twisting at high temp's that it was faulty.
The Q2200 has more BTUs and gets hotter for sure.
@@GallaghersGrub Both grilles have about 45 btu's per square inch so I am surprised by the difference in maximum temperatures.
More BTUs over a significantly bigger area. I guess you'd need to calculate the BTU per square centimetre. Plus the fact that more cold food will go on the bigger grill vs the smaller one.
Nice review. I own q2400 the electric one and it can easily handle low and slow at around 110°C.
That's interesting. I have not tried the electric version. Thanks for the info.
Thanks for the vid
Any time!
Does the 2200 come off the stand?
Yes, the 2200 comes off the stand. The 2200 can also fit on the folding stand that the 1200 is on.
Can the 1200 fit on the 2200 stand?
Can i use those small propane tanks with the q2200? 1 lb i think?
Yes. Definitely.
You should have compared running cost. I own both, and that big one really chows propane.
Yes, the smaller Q1200 is much better on gas.
Goodreview
EXCELLENT REVIEW. ****Thank you****
Thanks for watching! Both are great. The Q1200 is definitely more portable though.
Too bad there is no caddy for the 1200 that has a shelf for the tank.
Should have compared propane usage especially after identical settings for half an hour.
Not sure how I would do that. Maybe weigh the canisters??
If you want black and are willing to import them, Australia and the UK have them in that colour.
Scratch that. Apparently the US has a different gas hose fitting than the US.
That's bizarre that Weber has black ones for Australia and the UK. Why do we get only this "Titanium" one. Makes no sense.
I think you're right. The Qs in the US have the regulator built onto the grill.
Can i use butane instead of profane?
No. Butane cannot be used with these grills.
@@GallaghersGrub Any reason why butane tank cannot use this kind of grill?
Great opening shot for a size reference compared to adult body. Both always looked so small but now there is some "visual" dimensions. Q2200 w/out question!!
Thanks again
I love both to be honest. I've been using the 2200 a lot lately, but the 1200 is definitely better for taking on the road.
@@GallaghersGrub You realize that the cart on the 1200 will work with the 2200?
Лайк за обзор.Я купил Q1200, и доволен как слон. Для меня его размера более чем достаточно. В России Q1200 с тележкой стоит около 500$, а его старший брат около 630$
The 1200 is perfect for a small family. I love mine too.
My question is: Why did you buy the 2200? You never addressed the very reason for your video. Thanks!
I saw it on FB Marketplace at a price I couldn't refuse.
City Escape Griller me tooo....$80..
What's to decide? Ones bigger, cooks more and is priced accordingly so..
I think if for taking one on the road, the 1200 would be the better choice. The 2200, while portable, is definitely a good bit bigger and heavier. Cheers!
I think something is maybe off with your 1200. Mine consistently hits 290 C. I have it connected to a bigger 11 KG (whatever you call it in the US) gas bottle though, instead of the smaller cans. Don't know if that makes a difference.
Thanks for a great channel btw 👍
Could be. It used to get a bit hotter for sure. Thanks for watching Therkel.
Your information is a little off.
Both prices are WITH-OUT the cart, you have two different carts. (approx cost portable cart = $90 and Q-cart = $120)
I have the Q2200 Red on the Portable cart (not the Q-cart, like you) and works great for tailgating since larger cook area
Depending of where your at they do have the Q2200 in different colors, but might be left-over stock (my local True value and Ace hardware)
You are correct. Both prices are are without the carts.
@@GallaghersGrub great video ! so the Q2200 does fit on the portable cart ? I still got the cart for my Q1200 and I am now thinking of buying the Q2200
@@tobiaswolf2915 Yes, the two red knobs that lock the legs in place can be moved to the other holes in the cart to fit the bigger 2200.
I have a Q1200. Last Saturday it reached almost 300 degrees C (572 F - please America, go metric 😁) when I cooked some nice steaks.
I wish we would go celcius and metric. Indeed. Cheers Gerald!
Will the Q2200 fit on the stand that the Q1200 is on? If so, could you post a video of it please?
Yes it does. The cart is compatible with Q1000 and Q2000 series grills.
Yes, you just have to move the red knobs forward that lock the legs in. It's super easy.
My old q220 came in red. Cost me 165.00 . My cart cost me 13.00 on sale. So I got way ahead of the game. Otherwise its charcoal.
You put on a good show. Maybe you should go on the Food Network and get paid for it 😉
I would but Bobby Flay needs another show. He's only got 75 already.
I'd go 1200 but drill out the jet/orifice. I've found Webers don't offer the temp range of Chinese made grills. I have Weber Spirit 3 and run different jets/orifices depending on the season.
Nice. True, the Qs don't get low enough for sure. Thanks for watching Michael.
I drilled mine out probably too much, now I get yellow flames :(
@@MeeshaViron The Q1200 I bought ran 400 to 550 so I didn't need to drill it. You need to use machinist sized bits and remember the smaller the number the larger the drill bit. Also take it slow. Got a 67 hole, don't jump up more than 2 sizes.
Website thebbqdepot can get you a new orifice.
2200
We are only two, so a larger grill is not needed,
The 1200 is perfect for two. It's a great little grill that's good on gas too.
Great review. I have been restoring Weber grills In the past and have run through all these models.. I personally prefer the Q1200 over the Q2200 for quick grills for up to 4 people. If I need more space I have a Genesis and a few kettles. Also my 1200 gets a lot hotter than what you have shown. You may need to clean your burners. Overall the Q series is a great and efficient design. Except for the former CharQ. That one did not impress me.
I have not tried the CharQ. Was wondering about that one. My 1200 used to get much hotter. I think maybe the thermometer isn't accurate, as the burner tube was recently cleaned out and poked. I've had a kettle for the past 20 years and love them. Also, I had a Genesis Silver from 2006-2013. I loved that grill and really miss it.
City Escape Griller yes you may want to check the lid thermometer. These can be off. Otherwise the propane regulator could be the culprit.
@@GallaghersGrub These lid thermometers sometimes can fail too. I would use a probe thermometer to compare. If it is not the lid thermometer it might be the regulator.
The CharQ was a nice try. I bought it used, restored it, used it for a while and sold it again. But the shallow charcoal tray only allows for one layer of charcoal. And this tray rusts over time and Weber no longer sells a replacement. In my opinion the kettle is the better option.
