Well this guy is trying to make money off of David’s story and hard work so I can see both sides ( try to be comprehensive but concise). I don’t think anyone is necessarily annoying or negative so that’s where things got messy, idk who cares, David made it to a new level where other guys life work includes talking about his successes
GotROM plus Goggins = watching right away. I also tried to find out what stretches he does. As a manual therapist I agreenthe psoas has a very important role. Thanks for this very interesting video 💪
@GotROM it can cause a ton of back and hip pain. Also, because of its intimate relationship with visceral organs and major blood vessels, it can tighten up due to organ issues as well as making organ issues worse if tight. I agree with Goggins, but I would explain the link with anxiety in a slightly different way.
@GotROM i like massaging it but it's often difficult due to varying degrees of adiposity. I often end up doing mostly pnf stretching for patients and prescribe strengthening of the posterior chain to reverse anterior pelvic tilt tendencies (90% of the population). I do a more tissue work on their rectus femoris as it's easier to access. I keep it simple as many people don't even want to do the bare minimum. Strengthening the hip flexors is very important in athletes for sprinting and jumping motions. I think we could sit down and chat for hours about the body...or better chat as we stretch 🔥

My upper body was super tight for years. I'm a tiny lady but my muscles felt like they were crushing me to death. My Dr.'s would try to stretch me out, but it was so hard that they would yell, while using all of their strength trying to stretch me out, but they couldn't. No man could. Dr.s gave me trigger point injections to numb me for a few days and always seemed shocked when they would pull the needle out of my muscles and the needle was bent into a C shape. They finally had to start using a very large bore needle in order to prevent the needle from breaking off inside my muscles. I finally have things under control, for the most part. I work out and stretch, and that's pretty much all that I do. I can feel if my muscles are wigging out, so I switch up my body work routine with the quickness. I cant work anymore, but staying in shape (better than most people my age) feels like a huge accomplishment because it is extremely challenging. I have injuries in every part of my body, some they say is serious, but if I don't keep on top of it, it will kick my butt. No thanks!

@@GotROM Been limping for 5,5 years. I might be wrong about the muscle name though. But something just burst and I don't think it healed correctly. Became better a few months ago, but I had a stupid backlash recently. Perhaps stronger glutes and hamstrings can help. Thanks.
@@GotROM I do a lot of hamstrings and some butt things. I think that makes it better, but not enough. Perhaps with time that strength will bring more relief. Thank you.
The rule of thumb is usually after a warm up. Some of those who sit for long hours start with a stretch to help them open up their body from prolonged sitting. Right after that a good training regimen would be a good idea. What are you currently doing for your routine?
@@GotROM i didn't do any stretches to be honest. My Routine is at the Moment to Warm up 5 Minutes, then i try to hold a Plank as long as possible and sit on the wall as long as possible, then i do a Kettlebell routine and after the Routine i do an exercise to get my body to make a bridge. Thats it. After i saw your video i would like to add some stretches, that's why i asked when to do them. To be honest, i never really trained and i started training some weeks ago, so i have 0 experience or anything.
@@ChibiKisu3 I see. Thank you for checking out my channel for some tips. The general rule of thumb would be to warm up, stretch, then do your workout and then some cool down right after. Let me know if this helps! Cheers!
@GotROM I have a problem with Sciatica, which affects the entire left lower half of my body. I am 50 and have lost a lot of my mobility. I am healthy and have worked out with weights for many years. With that said, the problems with Sciatica have affected every part of my life, and living with pain has become a part of everyday life for me. I have been stretching the last few weeks, and it has improved that tenfold. This is what brought me to your video on this subject, and I believe taking the approach David did will help me. I have been doing 3 hours a day of stretching, broken up into 1 hour blocks 3 times a day. I will add that obviously David is committed, but clearly, he also has the TIME. I am not sure if he has children that are in his home as he keeps his private life very private. I personally have raised 3 kids and also have a grandchild, and on top of that, work 110 hours a week. It is not just about dedication, I know alot of dedicated people who do not have the time to stretch for 12 hours a day on top of everything else in their lives.
I thought I was the only one who stretched for over 4 hours per stretch session. I do it about 2-3 times a week. At first i used to stretch daily but it would prevent me from literally having a life. I can almost do full split at bw of 230 lbs and while being hard on strength training.
@@GotROM Thanks mate. At my stage I just focus on maintenance and consistency. Stretching is a beautiful endeavor. ITs so helpful and beneficial to the human body. Most people dont actually stretch. One stretch I would like to achieve is the full side split/middle split, the russian split but with knees turned forward, not up. Thats to me, the real test of flexibility.
This will also help people that have protein C deficiency (not to be be confused with vitamin C). 95% of people with protein C deficiency dont know they have it until they have a blood clot and unfortunately with me it was in the sagital sinus which is the main artiery in your brain. I had a stroke at 23yrs of age. I couldnt move my right side, couldnt speak. I was in a coma for several weeks but very fortunate for me the blood clot was "honeycombed" so they didnt need to do surgery just kept me on a drip of heparin that luckily desolved around 90% of it. If it wasnt honeycombed the Dr who was a professor said i had a 5% chance of talking again and and about 10% of living. After that i wasted my life until i was 37 and had mt beautiful son. Now unfortunately its a hard time again as his mother and I have separated but my son is with me and im going to teach him how to live right. To be a real man and never give up. Health and family are what matters. That super strong mind, determination is what makes champions
@@GotROM I've just started back at the gym around a month ago so I'm still going fairly light as I don't want to go to heavy and cause an injury so im just doing 1 body part per workout for around 12-18 sets. Of course im wanting to put on a few kg of muscle but mainly I'm working on getting my head strong,my self belief, my confidence,my will power etc. I want to build myself up to where I'm happy and proud to be myself
I wonder if Goggins ever considered Bikram Yoga. I saw where he said he stretches out for two hours every night. Bikram Yoga is ninety minutes in a heated room. I could see him doing that. I know it has helped me with many ailments.🙂
I had been doing a lot of running. Not like Goggins though. I did a half-marathon back in 2016 when I was fifty two. Was planning to train for a full marathon, but my running just went downhill where I could hardly run a mile. To make a short story long, lol, I already was familiar with Bikram, his teacher Bishnu Gosh, and Bishnu’s brother Paramahansa Yogananda. I had Bikram’s books and cd’s. I have never been to a studio so I would heat up my bathroom and do the postures to the two cd’s which is a recorded Bikram class. I did 35 consecutive days twice and that helped my flexibility very much.
Hey I have a question. Should I do this routine everyday? I kinda worry about stretching a sore muscle after strength training it that it is bad. So I wanted to know when I could do this routin.
Thank You. Now I'm thinking no wonder David Goggins stretch for 2 to 3 hour everyday. According to the 10 stretch method that he use he must be doing each stretch for about 15 minutes.
It's my second day doing all these stretching and it's feel so good. Also it's easier for me to do it today than yesterday. Especially 5:08 hip stretch and 6:11 double quad stretch I can't even do that yesterday but today I can. The struggle is real. It's amazing how i come across this video right when I need it. Look like I will keep coming back to reply to this comment everyday for the update of my progression. It's amaze me how you can do these stretching effortlessly like David Goggins himself. Thank you again for making this tutorial.
@GotROM consistently for a couple of years. Body twists, muscle endurance and muscle lengthening over time is massively satisfying, together with breath work is a pathway to the meditative peace for which the physical practice was intended. Better than a pill and no negative side effects.
I was stretching everyday and stopped for about 13 years and started stretching again about 2 weeks ago and there is a massive difference in how i feel now after picking it back up. And i hold stretches for about 10 minutes each. I am 44 years old and i can move around way better with stretching.

Hi Great video with good demonstration; a question; what can someone who’s had a total hip replacement do i.e. how much hip opening stretches? I ask this question because nobody ever addresses this sort of thing; I have always been flexible but since the operation to replace the hip things have gone backwards lol
Hi Gary! Good question. You can start with exploring some of my free FAI Fix Exercises or stretches here. Or if you want a more comprehensive and in depth program, you can also check out thefaifix.com.
I won't leave my house without spending 20 minutes at least stretching. In the AM. I like to do another 20 minutes before I go to bed. Not immediately before bed, but maybe before my shower. Because a serious stretch routine will wake you up, get your blood pumping.
David Goggins, I would love it if you could make time out of your busy to come and hold an event at the Austin outpatient clinic, in Austin, Texas. You would be welcomed with open arms. Just wishful thinking, but think about it brother. You would help a lot of vets.
What about me Got ROM!!! I think my lower back pain is a combo between the psoas and my glute medias I got a massage I told her to work them glutes Pain went away Just a theory of mine Anything attached to that lower lumbar area plus how uptight I am in public and around other people ( relax them butt cheeks … lol)
My calves in particular get so sore and tight at times (I stock groceries). I fantasize about having a vat of magically non toxic mercury to shove my legs into to massage them (foam rolling doesn’t always help, I use an unopened 2 liter seltzer water bottle or a softball when it’s being a real bastard)
I do all of these except for the Butterflies...once in a while, but I'll be adding them regularly now. I do the triceps too but not with the band, so that's definitely going to be the way I do those as of today. Thank you for this video though. It's inspired me to keep stretching even when I think I'm good and don't need it for the day.

What are you working on?
Goggins stated he stretches 3 hours every evening. Almost no one would be able to stick to that protocol
That's true! And to get the benefits of stretching, you can do a minimum of 20-30 minutes consistently. Have you tried this routine? Let me know!
Thank you, that's an amazing video and very useful!
Absolutely! Is there anyhting else I can help you with?
When i stretch my right biceps i always have a tingly feeling in my fingers especially the thumb after like 10 seconds of the stretch what should i do?
I see. You can release the stretch and do it again to release the tension. Let me know if that helps!
@GotROM it helped , thank you
And how long do hold it, bcs i think thats important isnt it? THX in advance. BIG thx
Hi! Thank you for stopping by. It depends. For beginners usually a 3-5 second hold would be ideal. Where are you at with your practice?
@@GotROM oh I do like 15 - 20 sec sometimes 30. Now it's gonna be my first week

Strange that David found out about stretching AFTER being an active SEAL.
In his book he said that a doctor came to the SEALs and told them about stretching but at that time David thought it was BS
Could also be because he never stretched before and found the benefits of stretching after he trained hard.
Thanks Bro. The stretching made my TITS hurt
Lol... Is this your first time to do a stretching routine?
Would you recommend stretching before or after the training? Before warming up or after?
Cheers!
It is incredible that anyone would have 4-12 hours a day of free time to stretch. And I am not trying to be negative by saying that.
Yes, I understand. David is definitely dedicated to his fitness goals. What are you working on?
It is not just about dedication, I know alot of dedicated people who do not have the time to stretch for 12 hours a day on top of everything else in their lives.
no lie stretching is key to mobility and longevity...
Yes it is! Do you stretch often?
I thought I was the only one who stretched for over 4 hours per stretch session. I do it about 2-3 times a week. At first i used to stretch daily but it would prevent me from literally having a life. I can almost do full split at bw of 230 lbs and while being hard on strength training.
Wow! That's amazing! Is there anything else I can do to help you with what you're working on, currently?
@@GotROM Thanks mate. At my stage I just focus on maintenance and consistency. Stretching is a beautiful endeavor. ITs so helpful and beneficial to the human body. Most people dont actually stretch. One stretch I would like to achieve is the full side split/middle split, the russian split but with knees turned forward, not up. Thats to me, the real test of flexibility.
@@lastdaysofhumanity4114hey man, I get bad TMJ/teeth grinding, what stretches do you recommend for this? Feels very tense in trap muscles.

Oh wow! What's your exercise routine like?
I wonder if Goggins ever considered Bikram Yoga. I saw where he said he stretches out for two hours every night. Bikram Yoga is ninety minutes in a heated room. I could see him doing that. I know it has helped me with many ailments.🙂
Sounds interesting! What got you interested to try out Bikram yoga?
