Here is how I started waking up early everyday: 1. Removed my phone from my bedroom: I found my phone distracting before going to bed and after I woke up. I would spend 45 minutes needlessly scrolling. 2. Placed an alarm outside my bedroom: This forces me to physically get up to go turn it off. By the time I do that I'm already awake and it's hard to go back to sleep. 3. Immediately Start Purposeful Work: Within 30 minutes of getting up I start working on a purposeful project. I enjoy the work I do so it makes it super easy to get started.
This is how I started waking up early. 1 go to sleep 8-7hrs before you wanna wake up. 2 wake up. 3 done 4 dont be an idiot, you have human instincts that will wake you up after you slept enough. Simple as that
I have been waking up at 5 since the start of the year and what helped me was alarmy(you can set challenges in it), I wake up -> it asks me to type 2 sentences and I gain some consciousness and then it asks me to do 10 squats and after doing them I have the energy to go to the bathroom, wash my face and go on with my day. Best for someone like me who used to struggle with waking up early.
I think what you could do what really helps me getting up is instantly going to the bathroom letting the shower get cold and taking a cold shower. But for building willpower its very important to instantly go into the cold water and not waiting in front of the shower and preparing yourself mentally. Also other benefits are that you will feel way happier in the morning after the shower because cold exposure especially in water (ice baths are better than cold showers) lets the dopamine rise up by 2.5 or 250% (that's as high as you can get with cocaine) and it drops down to normal very slow

I've made videos about this myself but Goggins expresses it far better than I ever could... sleep experts will disagree with me here but my personal experience is: if I sleep from 10PM - 5AM, I feel FAR more motivated than if I sleep 10PM - 5AM then snooze til 7AM... just being awake and getting stuff early while it's still dark out feels godly... even if the second half of my day ends up more 'relaxation mode', its worth the sacrifice of feeling a bit sh*t and cold for about 2 minutes... They say "if you lose an hour in the morning, you'll spend the rest of the day trying to find it." I couldn't agree more!

So true; did a BA and ended up not liking the field, the earnings etc. Going to college again in a total different field, older, working full time +54 hours a week, and trying to squish gym. Working up 5 am and arriving home around 23:00h. I really want to go through the struggle and "fear" of changing everything? Not having so many time to be with me girlfriend, may not finding a job in the new field, or not even liking it too or something. But staying is so hurtful too, I NEED to do something!
im with him , i live alone so theres nobody around to motivate me or keep me in check . after a while you realize it really is all on you to better yourself and there is no shortcut to greatness of any kind , but you can achieve it no matter who you are or what your situation , just get after it , do what you can , and then do more , strangely enough things will begin to fall into place and the more they do the easier it will get for you to achieve more if you continue to improve yourself because you will be getting stronger and smarter which leads to more progress . its a viscious cycle . im up to 5 miles a day now plus other exercises aside from my daily tasks , job , school etc. and its all leading to more because im able to handle more . im not special by any means i just made a decision one day to start and not stop . if your reading this you can achieve greatness , just go for it and dont let anybody stop you or tell you you cant , especially yourself . excuses are easy , life is hard , so stay hard 💪
I just watched this hating myself laying on my bed and drinking beer. Then got inspired to go on a run. But it was raining and my only shoes were soaked. I developed a method for getting up early and its served me very well. I started by setting myself a soft goal, like just get up before 7:30am. I did this and then when I did was I recorded this time in a file on my phone, then the next day I set a goal that was just to beat this time, it could be even 7:29am. When I did that I kept going until I got to 5:30am. I rarely want to be up before 5:30 so I'll get up between 5:30am and 6:30am. I started this over a year ago and by now its ingrained in me. What kept me going at the start was that I made a game out of it, i was always trying to beat my previous time and when its like this it becomes fun.
That's great I just don't find it necessary. If someone gets up at 05:30am, 07:00am, 08:00am, or even 09:00am that's up to their individual biology. Every person is different. Some people are better at getting up at 4:00am and others it wrecks them. There is no One Size Fits All standard on physical and mental health. Someone else's challenge might be to sleep an hour later than the normal time they get up, for example, and they feel better when finally accomplishing that. What drives me nuts about these motivational vids on RUclips is they keep pushing for a singular answer. There is no singular answer. Each person and their circumstance may be different.
@@damienholland8103 Im yet to meet someone who feels better getting up at 10am except for because of the fact its more comfortable or they have nothing to do.
@@callanc3925 That's cool but different bodies have different needs regardless. The point still stands. I know I guy who is in his 90s that only needs 4 hours of sleep. But if you are not genetically built for that 4 hours can hurt you. Has nothing to do with willpower it's all about understanding your individual biology and accommodating to it. Same goes with diet. Same with exercise.

@@friedkin71 been training for 5+ years now, and honestly no, when i drag myself up to train after a hard day at work i usually cut the training extra short and get really tired afterwards, skipping a day in the gym is not something that should be frowned upon, aslong as your not doing it on a weekly basis.
Same here. Last week, I didn’t get much sleep and I woke up tired. I didn’t want to do my ruck march. In the dark, this guys voice rang in my head and I got up and did it. I felt so much better about myself.
That should open you up to being like you know what I rather relax after a long day of work so I’m going to wake up earlier and go to the gym before work own your day then when you get off work after how ever hours tired you realize wow I can relax I don’t have to worry about going to the gym while it’s all packed and can enjoy your night . This year so far I've been getting up and sticking to my routine because I want to change and I want to be a better version of myself physically, mentally, and spiritually and David Goggins helps me alot by motivating me by what he says! He is a true badass warrior
I started to workout since January this year and eat healthy. Today we are June, after months of consistency I lost weight and gain muscles. I’m proud of myself and what I have achieved in a short period of time.
Goggins mindset always reminded me of Bruce Lee. Both of them are just the most relentless, focused, uncompromising humans. Both are incredibly inspiring
Absolutely agree with this. Mindset is key. Coming out of Covid I was at my heaviest weight of 119kg at 5ft11 and wasn’t happy with my lifestyle. Decided to switch this up and over the course of 14 months I lost around 30kg by eating clean, adopting healthier habits (walking/cycling instead of driving where possible) and started playing sports again.
Amazing work man. I'm in that boat now. I got up to about 120kg at the same height. Over the last few months I've lost 22 pounds...I cannot wait to see how I am 14 months out like you. Keep it up!

This really hit the nail on the head of what I’m going through right now. Going from a young adult into someone where the pieces are starting to fall together, someone I can respect and call a true adult. It’s a beautiful thing, like a butterfly finally starting to fly after being in a cocoon for so long.
Heard of him in April this year and his book "Can't Hurt Me" has been a revelation in changing my mindset in the way I approach life in general. Thanks DG for inspiring, I'm now driven rather than finding motivation from somewhere. Stay Hard!
I was addicted to food. For the first time in my life I’m cutting down and not giving in to every craving in an effort to respect myself and rewire my brain. I use food because I’m struggling with my goals but now I’m facing it. I write everyday, I gym everyday , I’m literally being the person I want to be even though it’s hard and I don’t want to and I want to sleep and eat mostly. We have to choose our hard. Do I want to be lazy and not level up and be ‘comfortable’ or do I want to maintain my beautiful body eat well write as it’s my passion…. I don’t want to be all those things , I am those things. Keep going guys, it’s not easy but you know what it’s better than being on the ‘comfort’ cushion that offers no real comfort whatsoever man. ❤
I am 62 living alone all by myself I go to church serving My Lord playing gospel music which I have been doing this ever since I was 25 years old way back in April or May 1987 now do not get me wrong I sure do have my days of not wanting to do things but when you got to pay the bills and do your Landry you got to do what you really have got to do in order to survive because I tell you I get sick and tired of being alone all by myself it sure is really nice to find a woman to settle myself down but into this day and age of a world that WE truly are living in there are so so many challenges which I do do take some chances for myself so I can become a Overcomer one day in Jesus Name.. now when it all comes down to Disappointments? Sure! who does not have them But! If We can accomplish things and try to stay Positive and have The Faith that saids it all. I really enjoy this video that I am listening to
By far the easiest way for me to get up at 3 or 4am is my NIGHT routine. Eating dinner as early as possible (5 - 6pm) then nothing else, because digestion steals tones of energy. Secondly, meditation before sleeping. Thirdly, going to sleep around 9 - 10pm = waking up before 5am ... no alarms needed. Adding Goggins powerful perspective "YOU ARE THE PURPOSE" ... and bam LFG !!!!
Absolutely agree. That is the most difficult thing to accept and to keep accepting day after day. When my off-season starts and the gap between then and the start of the next season, it's about mental discipline to keep training. Maintaining the sense of "this is what we do now" and avoiding quitting. That's when you must move forward. When you absolutely don't want to do it. That's when it is most important.

I wasted years out of my life. NEVER AGAIN... I remember the past 8 years, I was so broke I couldn't even afford a meal. I had to realize that at that point that no one was going to walk me through things in life and I had to do this on my own and figure out everything alone. I now live in the nordic woods of Sweden and post about self improvement after surviving a great ordeal in life, from the Boston bombing attack to being homeless, depressed struggling with an anxiety disorder and other mental disorders before I studied my pain and got certified in therapy. I used it to heal and run my own business and also move out of Miami where I worked in a corner store overnight in one of the most dangerous hoods in Miami. I am so grateful I got out, because I knew the other route, and it was not going to end well. I hope I get to help at least one person reading this, I just started uploading weekly videos on RUclips as well 🙏🏽💜
@Santanosch Santosch I will most definitely keep uploading and get some good shots this summer! I survived it I was a few feet away, I smelt the smoke, I saw everything... and it was really detrimental to my mental health because I did not attend to healing it, I just pushed it to the back of my mind until I couldn't keep it there anymore...
I been hung up on the idea of purpose in life for years because it feels like i had no passion for any craft that i do i get bored with things i thought i was passionate about in the beginning so when that dies down i feel like im lost. But what goggins said about not needing a purpose to thrive and the only purpose is getting better at whatever it is is ur doing to be a better you. That really spoke to me and was something i needed to hear that i dont think anyone around me could have ever explained to me. Thank you.
The way I got off my "couch" Is I hated myself so much for being lazy and coming up short day after day, year after year. I knew something had to change. I used David as motivation. You also need the will power to act on that motivation. Be inspired by your progress (don't compare your progress to others) and let it snowball. Soon you will be in a position you can be proud of. Then use that pride to keep going and surpass everyone else. Remember the hardest thing in life is going from 0 to 1. If you can go from 0 to 1, 1 to 2 is easier and so on and so forth. Everyone had to start from 0, even Goggins.
That's exactly how I am feeling yet I have jit enough care for myself to actually get up I'm out of faith but mayb e moving with no faith is what I need
Definitely needed to hear this. Back in 2017 I received a devastating diagnosis that completely derailed me, but worse, heard the specialist say, "We're already doing everything for you that we can." And that was it. Everything I had seen in front of me, at the time, was gone. Now I've been in dialysis for a year and a half, and while I've fallen into a life that isn't too bad (I have income, hobbies, friends, etc...), there are still days where I have to find a reason to keep going, especially as I never refound the hope I lost that day of the diagnosis, nor did I have a "purpose" in my mind to keep going. But this above what what I needed to hear; I am not less than because I am disabled, or less than because I couldn't continue on my track for my goals. I am only less than because I allowed myself to believe that I am. "YOU are always the purpose." Thank you.
_My first race was a 100K back in 2019. Yes 62+ miles. Before that I never did any type of race (5K or whatever). I got injured and super dehydrated at mile 18. Success is a mindset. Without a successful mindset, you will never be successful. It's crazy how powerful the human attitude is. We have the power to change and shape our entire reality, but a lot of us don't even know it. A lot of us think that we can't control what happens to us and that we can't do anything about the situation we're in. But this is so untrue. So many people have the potential to be so much more and they don't even know it.
The first step to successful investing is figuring out your goals and risk tolerance either on your own or with the help of a financial professional but is very advisable you make use of a professional

I’ve been struggling to find my purpose and I needed to hear this. I was already having a shitty morning and the woman at the register was genuinely sweet to everyone. Her smile gave me hope. Yes her purpose was to take my money and feed it to the register, but that smile said it’s gonna be alright. Amazing how a simple gesture does so much.
HER purpose was customer service, not just taking your money. Wise up.
Don’t listen to the person saying she was only taking your money. She could’ve been surly, but she smiled. Don’t take her kindness away from her.
@@MFV77 I think it is interesting how some people look out onto life and at others. What we see through our own "colored glasses" is exactly what life becomes for us. We reap what we sow.

Hear ya. The question is why the resistance? I'm working on that one to start...

I really want to go through the struggle and "fear" of changing everything? Not having so many time to be with me girlfriend, may not finding a job in the new field, or not even liking it too or something. But staying is so hurtful too, I NEED to do something!

I just watched this hating myself laying on my bed and drinking beer. Then got inspired to go on a run. But it was raining and my only shoes were soaked. Without thinking twice I got up, chugged my beer, and ran in the rain barefoot. I would have normally looked at people's reactions to me barefoot but remembered I AM THE PURPOSE and it is for ME! I felt empowered doing it all for myself as those people went by me. I feel a million times better. Thank you for the motivation

Great tip. Thanks for sharing!

"I am the purpose". I am the purpose is spot on. You will never be lonely if you are happy and like yourself.
No money can buy David’s state of mind and ability to achieve what he has done. He is one of the most interesting people to listen to.
It's amazing to know that alot of people out there just needs to hear these things being said to them to undergo a major change in their lives.

If I could listen to only one man on earth for motivation for the rest of my days, it’s this man right here.

Thank you.
the pupose never leaves you, because the very purpose is you.
wow that hit right in the core.
Goggins is amazing, I love that he dedicates his life to the pursuit of self actualization. He pushes himself forward every day.
