Hello, everyone! I'm the arranger here at the SGPMO. Sheet music has been added to the description of the video, so feel free to take a look at the score. I apologize for it being so hard to read , but even condensed it's still hard to get the whole orchestra to fit. The score's been cleaned up as much as I can, but be prepared to zoom in. I like to work with a lot of instruments. If you wish, please reply and share what instrument(s) you play! We're all fellow musicians at the SGPMO, and we love to hear that sort of thing. As far as the arrangement goes, I can't always make each part interesting, and I still have a lot to learn, but I do my best and will continue to try to improve and grow stronger as an arranger. I also am happy to answer any composition/arrangement questions to the best of my humble ability, though I can't always guarantee an answer better than "it sounded good this way." I'll certainly try though. Thanks for all of your kind words and support!
I've just recently 100% Splatoon (Wii U) again after my save file got wiped by a mod and not even lying the first thing that came up on RUclips was this, You did an excellent job orchestrating this! Edit: I like to mention how good the transition from Calamari Inkantation, to Fly, Octo, Fly! Also I love how the beginning of the Ebb and Flow part was in Fly Octo Fly started off silly then it progressively gets better and better!
This is absolutely beautiful, and definitely needs more views! Orchestrated versions of video game music are often sadly overlooked, so it's great to see someone doing this!
I was looking for copper and ended up finding gold. There are not many orchestral remixes of splatoon songs but this one in particular is incredible :D
Hey, this is the arranger here. I really appreciate that! It means a lot to hear that people enjoy the music. A lot of struggle went into the arrangement. Thanks for noticing the Zelda references, too! They were sort of a challenge/restriction with the arrangement, and some references are more obvious than others. There are seven of them. Can you spot them all?
SGPMO's arranger here. Thanks! I like to experiment with harmony, and I'm proud of how that section ended up sounding a lot. One would probably not see that melody behind those chords otherwise.
Haha, we'll have to get to 100k views first. Thanks for the sentiment/compliment, and sorry for taking a couple weeks to reply to this. Fire Emblem is a problem and an addiction and it obfuscates reality.
That part at 8:27 sounds like a tune from the staff roll of Super Mario Galaxy 2. Also, I noticed a Zelda's Lullaby reference at 2:41. You made both of them fit in so well, nice work. :)
Hey, sorry for the late response! Email issues and whatnot. You're right, it does! I'm a bad person and haven't played SMG2 yet. Still have the disc for my Wii, though... And yeah, a lot of Zelda references are crammed into here. Umm, let me see if I can remember them all: 2:28 - Piccolo hits the main theme 2:41 - Zelda's Lullaby in the strings 3:35 - Low strings and bassoon do the sailing theme bass line from the Wind Waker 3:49 - Low winds, low strings, and mallets are quoting a modified version of the original Zelda's dungeon theme's bass line 6:23 - Transition passes through the Requiem of Spirit from OoT 8:33 - Oboe does the last bit of the Minuet of Water (OoT) 8:39 - Flute plays the OoT main theme That should be them all. Thanks again for listening and your support!
@@sgphilmo If you still have Super Mario Galaxy 2 and a Wii you should consider playing it, and maybe get the first Super Mario Galaxy as well. Also, thanks for hearting my comment. :)
SGPMO copyist here. Hey, you know what? I've never heard of David Conte until now, but when I looked him up, I see what you mean. Some of us were band/wind ensemble students back in school, so the title is actually a reference to "Incantation and Dance" by John Barnes Chance. We tried so hard to find other good puns, but the Splatoon/classical music crossover puns mostly aren't there for what songs are used in the arrangement. X)
This sounds like something from a superhero or just a comedy cartoon from the 90s, if also kind of reminds me of The Splatocolypse trailer or something from Miitopia
WOW!!!! This is amazing!! I am surprised you don’t have any more views!!! I have a question, you don’t have to but could you maybe do Splatoon band songs? Like Blitz it, Entropical, that sort of thing?
SGPMO arranger here. I appreciate the kind words! You know, I actually had thoughts to try and make this way longer, but that was too stressful for what I was going for, and I think the twelve-minute mark is a good spot. That being said, I have ideas for how to take other songs and orchestrate them. I just missed out on the Splatoon franchise until 2 because something something Wii U. I appreciate how awesome the music is, but I haven't had much exposure to Splatoon 1's music. I like these lengthy arrangements, so who knows what we'll make in the future?
Our copyist says that sheet music DOES exist, but it is currently in a state that wouldn't be particularly useful. It will take some time, but a condensed score could be created (we're just not sure when we'd get around to it). If this does happen, a link to the score will be added to the video description, or we may upload a new version with the score following the music. Out of curiosity, was there a particular part/instrument you were looking at? Or was it more of a generic question?
@@samziegelman1835 That's absolutely fair. We'll try and get some sheet music for this out soon. It exists, but during the arrangement process, a lot of things have to look terrible to sound good because of the limitations of our workstation, and also because our arranger is lazy sometimes. A second pass to make a score that looks presentable is necessary. We'll make a new post when it's ready. Thanks for your interest and support! Edit: Sheet music in the description!
Nope! The end of "Into the Light" fades out with that melodic line. It was tweaked to make it fit better in this arrangement as a transition, so any Undertale reference was accidental.
