undertow and new flounder heights aren't too bad in my opinion (undertow is basically an improved shellendorf to me and flounder heights while a little small to me is a good remake) and while scorch gorge doesn't suck, it feels like a worse inkblot to me
@@Aidea._. actually never thought of this... guess snapper cannel is a pretty forgettable map to me. Mhm I can somewhat see the resemblance given the similar shape and the side areas you can paint (and kinda the midsection too.)
@@TobbyTukaywan hide in ink behind the barrel on the right side, then slide along the right edge. As soon as you can, do a roll up to the raised platform just past the wall, then another roll onto the platform connected to the glass overhang to attack the backliner. This strategy is more effective if the rest of the enemy team is distracted, otherwise you may have to take out anyone standing in the right channel or at the end of the raised middle first, however it is very unlikely that anyone standing on the overhang will see you from here, and they will be completely unable to attack you until the very end when you will have immunity frames from the rolls anyway. You also get partial cover from the platform connected to the overhang and can do a squid surge onto it if you have to.
It’s special gimmick just limits movement, it’s also overall a weird map in some modes. And even at the start of the game the platforms that connect the base to the center of the map. You can definitely not make an early push with that. Ofc this is if you see it in a competitive way.
You probably like the design and layout of it, but when people say they hate it, it’s more of the gimmicks and layout. It’s a super large stage, and so it’s harder for teammates to be closer to one another. It also has the gimmick near the center where the platform closes, and so movement is limited and you can’t really flank because of it. The design of course is fun and playful, and I honestly really like to play it with clam blitz, but yeah it’s pretty annoying on everything else
its true, i love the supermarket bc i started playing very recently (tho the reason i love is the thought that people just buy inked up products after the turf battle) (plus the lil jellyfish working is so cute)
My favorite is Wahoo, and YES, I cannot understand why it is so hated. It has a lot of cool and unique elements to it and it's literally a theme park. :)
My personal opinion is that there is too much of everything. Every map supposed to have like couple of simple gimmicks. Hagglefish having flank routes and open space, Flounder having elevated middle area, Mahi having water level mechanic. But wahoo is too complicated. The middle is literally closed for half of the game, the only way to get there in this time - go on uninkable surface. Then there is down area that is constatly rotating, making moving in the middle a bit stupid. Like we have already more then a couple of hard gimmicks: middle, rotating area, different levels, changes of the map in some modes (why cant they make the bridge be there all the time like in zones?) Also map's gimmicks conflict with fast-paced gameplay. Other maps just do things better (khem hagglefish khem) I mean its not unplayable or horrendous, its still a map, in our beloved game, but in my opinion its still worse then others
for me, the map is bad because on all the modes except zones, the bridge is closed for half of the match. this means your ONLY way into mid is to go over an uninkable surface. On zones its still bad because theres only 1 usable way into mid. going over uninkable surfaces near enemy players is a death sentence. the stage does have flank routes and if it werent for the closed bridge and uninkable glass, there would be 2 ways into mid and also a flank route. its almost good, but those things make it bad
I just wished they didnt totally destroy hammer head bridge an mahi mahi as much as they did, seriously, hammer head has no resemblance of what it was in splatoon 1 at all, and it was so much better, same with mahi mahi but not as bad as hammer head, but its still as bad stage turned from an amazing stage. And they still havent had any map patches yet, saying nintendo liked what they did to the maps
Brinewater springs is so bad, it's so bad that people realized they took wahoo world for granted and apologized, it's so small that if you were to make a splatzone the size of the map, nobody would question it, I made it to mid and pushed enemy base and I still had my spawn armor, I absolutely hate this map. At least it looks nice.
I remember i loaded into the map for the first time in recon mode and was like, is this it? This is a map layout you would see in tableturf not turf war. Again, it looks nice.
Firstly I thought of that too, but honestly... Its pretty interesting. Closer space makes more interactions and fights. I thought of small area beside the middle as useless but in some games it can open new strats to approach other team. Yeah, its not the map for the backline weapons, but they still can make it work out
They did try to add some flank routes to it, but as you said, this place is TINY. So tiny that anyone can see you coming from a mile away. Expanding the stage would make it infinitely better, but there's just one problem. The space around the area is too cramped to even do anything. From the environment to the stage itself, this place was *designed* to be small. Meaning if Nintendo were to make this stage any bigger, they'd have to rework EVERYTHING else so it doesn't take up too much space. They quite literally boxed themselves in here, which sucks
Wahoo World was the first map I ever played on in Splatoon 3, so while it might not be my #1 favorite (that has to go to Manta Maria) it definitely has a special place in my heart
My favorites are definitely Hagglefish market/Hammerhead bridge. (With Wahoo being the least favorite map ofc) I wish they brought back other maps tho like Skipper Pavillion or camp triggerfish, just anything thats not a *Square* map most of the time.
I really like brinewater because it has a little bit of everything kinda like hagglefish. It has a good sniper point that isn’t to OP (even though hagglefish’s is OP), a decent back route, good obstacles and barriers that aren’t easily exploitable, and it’s not to cramped and there are only a few bottlenecks. And also, this may get a bit specific, but I often use the undercover brella, and the spacing of the opening between a teams base and the main area is perfect for two ink mines, so I can easily place them to either keep the enemies out of the base, or trap them in theirs. Idk just my personal opinion. Also, this may be an unpopular opinion, but I like the aesthetic of brinewater more than hagglefish. So, in conclusion, I like brinewater the most because it’s a good map, that isn’t to easily exploitable or has OP sniping positions, and it really fits my own play style. (lol I was saying that like it’s an essay or something lol also sry that this is so long)
It's funny, in Splatoon 1, my top three favorite maps were Mahi-Mahi Resort, Hammerhead Bridge, & Camp Triggerfish. When they announced 2 of my favorite maps were returning, I was so excited & then I actually got to play them in 3, my reaction was "thanks, I hate it." Manta Maria was my favorite added into 2, I liked how in some ways, it reminded me of Hammerhead Bridge. What? I'm a bit twisted & like grated platforms, I know they expose you but I am very crazy, my favorite sub weapon is the seeker, that's how crazy I am. I think in 3, closest to being my favorite is Hagglefish Market, I can't say Flounder Heights, I don't like how they got rid of that little pathway off to the right from where you spawn, I loved that area.
I hope they add the reef, walleye warehouse, arrowana mall, and port makeral back from splatoon 2 and MAYBE urchin underpass from splat 1 (I think it would go well with this game at least) but PLEASE and I mean PLEASE don't add back Moray towers or Saltspray rig
I swear there is one person in between on makomart, and that is me, I'm decent at ranked, had the game practically since it came out, and played splatoon one and 2 on top of this.
i dont get why people dislike wahoo world so much, its def not a good map but its not really that bad imo. i think this might just be the splatoon 3 syndrom though. where i thirst for any decent map
Well that’s fine I don’t feel called out at all If you need me i’ll just be over here in Wahoo world playing Clamblitz with my dapple dualies nouveau in S+ rank for fun
Eetail Alley, Hagglefish Market, Mincedmeat and Brinewater. The one that I hate the Wahoo the most as a Hydra Splatling main...it's just one of the worse maps imo.
We All Miss Skipper Pavilion...
OMG YESSS
Why wouldn’t it come back? Reef is 99.9% confirmed and Skipper should come back since it was the last one introduced in 2.
who is we???
skipper pavilion was the most abstract stage done right
Bring back Skipper Pavilion and Snapper Canal
Hagglefish market was the only new stage done right. good flank routes in ranked, good sniper points, good everything

As a fellow flank fanatic, please enlighten me. How on earth do you get through that tiny mid without getting splatted?

Hammerhead feels wrong without the grates, hey could've made it a joke that the bridge was just never going to get finished so we can keep the grates.
i like mahi mahi resort
I love Mahi-Mahi Resort for lore reasons. You *feel* like it's one of the turf wars of old, you're constantly fighting for the little space you have.
As a Dapple Dualies Nouveau main who absolutely loves Mincemeat, I feel offended 😭
