- THE COCKPIT: Boeing 787 9 Cockpit Tour and FULL BRIEFING | UA2105
Thank you so much to Captain John for inviting me on such a unique experience!! Due to our 1K membership with United and them upgrading me to Polaris Business, this made for an epic ride to Los Angeles. Stay Tuned for lots more videos coming in the following weeks!

#Cockpit. #Tour. #B787
Probably the best 787 cockpit video out there.
not one steam gage in sight
Except I can't get past the first minute without almost vomiting watching those pilots wearing those damn useless face nappies
the captain is so cool for letting you film inside the cockpit and explaining the instrument to you
I retired from the 767 24 years ago on United…I cannot believe the sophistication! 🙏
Most pilots, in my experience anyway, seem very nostalgic about the 767, and say it was their favorite airplane. Of course, United still flies them, and I think they’re so comfortable for the passengers, despite the relative lack of sophistication.
I concur .UAL A&P SFOMM service center .60's and 70's B727 seemed technologically advanced for that day and age
you are a real pilot then, too much automation now, i wanted to be a commercial pilot in 1995, i almost got my private pilot license but money ran out, the owner of the school is a retired american airlines a300 captain( Richard Green), nowadays pilot dont have to do anything
@@franklintejeda3472not true. Respectfully, though work load has definitely decreased and many systems and processes have been developed to alleviate pilot work load, pilots still hold lots of knowledge, and are trained to fly safely and are also trained to handle emergency situations. Technology has advanced so far that it makes pilotting look easy. However autopilot is only an aid in navigation, and all pilots right mowing most likely already learned to fly with and without autopilot. Autopilot has existed for a long time as well i believe. So no need to try to look down on pilots. Pilots are paid for the knowledge they hold in weather, characteristics of aircraft, aerodynamics, psychological sciences, but also the skills they hold in maneuvering the aircraft.
I’ve been going in the cockpit during boarding and disembarking since 1985 and yes I’ve been in the 787 cockpit. The pilots love chatting with me and vice versa. It sounds like this plane is going from Chicago to LAX which is a route I’ve flown many times.
Regrettably I’ve only flown in a 787 once, and that was just a very short Thai Airways flight from Chiangmai to Bangkok. Beautiful aircraft. Great video, thanks!
Sure, so glad you enjoyed it! Would love to do one on the 777, 747 and more!
This is awesome, so much different than 1980s 757/767 which were among the first to have CRT displays
WOW! This video just whetted my need for a MSFS flight in the Boeing 787. Good stuff here!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
This was awesome! I just got my Private Pilot certificate and I dream of flying an aircraft like this some day.
Fascinating! I fly most often on United, and I seem to wind up these days on 767s, 777s, and 787s. Believe it or not, I still find the old 767 to be the most comfortable.
Thank you so much for posting this! I have an interview with United this week and we are expected to go into the interview having United's briefing format memorized, as we will be asked to brief a flight using that format. It was great to be able to see it in action here - extremely valuable!
Hey, no problem at all! Hope all goes well and you get hired!
so howd it go?? did u get the job???
The 787 is such an incredibly comfortable aircraft and I’m always happy to hop aboard one.
Awesome video man. Surprised you got to film all the way through the departure brief!
Awesome cockpit views!
Thank you. This was extremely informative.
Very smooth landing also and good journey
Wow 🤩 so cool. Really nice looking cockpit for a beautiful plane.
Agreed. Love the dreamliner!
Looking Tonkin that happy gig...🥰
AMAZING FLIGHT DECK!
As a pilot I can confidently say I'd never be able to tell you the average tire pressure of anything I fly 😂I guess if you read it on the outside of the aircraft somewhere you'd memorize it though, like the FO said.
Very interesting, thanks!
I flew from Chicago to Warsaw Poland on one of these planes. The most smoothest ride I've ever had.
most excellent show, my first time seeing inside a 787 cockpit
Same for myself. It was such an iconic experience and I hope to be able to do it again in a new aircraft soon!
Respects to All the Pilots.
One of my favorite aircrafts
Awesome!
Wow modern day flying is so much safer with a lot more detail and data available to the pilots. Amazing
Iam asking myself isn`t about too much detail.
amazing
Awesome video. One of my aunts lives across the freeway from O'Hare. One of the runways is inline with her street. We used to visit her once a summer each year and one of my favorite things to do was to sit in the driveway and watch jets come in to land. Back then, it was one plane every 60 seconds around the clock. I think they may alternate runways now to give the neighborhood a bit of a rest but it was pure heaven for me. ❤
Agreed! I live along the intl flight path for flights to asia and europe (north of the field) so it’s a reality to me too. Great memories!
❤@@XLRSAv
woww! so nice..
I take this flight all of the time. This is an amazing cockpit video...all I get when I sit in Business is the chance to hear them test the GPWS ...LOL
Wow It's amazing how you got access in the cockpit.
Thank you. I agree!
787 my favorite plane💯
Thank you, excellent.
Thanks, Grammy!
Awesome! Many thanks to you and the pilots for this amazing video.
Dude! This is so neat! Good job making this video!
Thanks, really appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed this rare experience!!
@@XLRSAv I can tell you were using a DSLR not a phone or camcorder. Is that right?
@@TheCuriousSpotter yes it is.
Respect to the Engineers and Maintenance Techs.
Awesome
A three hours and 45 minute flight is very short for the 787. My longest flight time has been 11.5 hours from Denver to Tokyo on a United 787.
Wow, that’s incredible!
Awesome...thanks for the great video!!!
Of course. Thanks for watching!!
You're welcome...I'm looking forward to watching more great content! Keep up the great work!! @@XLRSAv
@@Gemashke Thanks much!
Love the video! Even as an Airbus guy I find the Dreamliner Cockpit imressive!
Me too! As an airbus person also, i find the 787 to actually be abit prettier than the a350! Even though they both are, ans I in general like airbus aircraft more, both are amazing companies!
It’s not a competition
United Airlines pilots are amazing. Boeing 787 Dreamliner is my favorite aircraft. United is my favorite airline. Thank you for sharing this great video.
The 787 is a cool aircraft, the cockpit looks ultra modern. Way different than 767.
Despite the battery issues in the past this is a masterpiece
Look luxury!
Super.
Nice
Beutiful COFFIN
How? That's awesome!🔥
Literally by chance. We were in line for coffee and happened to run into the captain of our plane! I asked and, without hesitation, he offered to bring us up front. Full flight review coming soon!
@@XLRSAv Oh wow! That's cool! I probably won't be on a plane until my flight lessons!🔥
This is awesome. Thanks for sharing. How did you manage to get access inside to chat with the pilots? I'd love to do this.
Funny enough, we bumped into the pilot in line at starbucks. One way to possibly get a tour of the cockpit, is to approach the pilot if they are waiting at the gate, kindly introduce yourself, state that you are an enthusiast / aspiring pilot, and ask if you may take photos and video of the cockpit upon boarding. They’ll almost always say yes!
"Alright, I'm flyin' to L.A. You see me doing something stupid, you let me know!" lol, legend
Agreed.
I flew on a 727 once from Sacramento to Anaheim. Remember those? Heh! 🤓😅
smokin!!
As a kid I used to fly back and forth from LA to Chicago mom always flew me red eyes, standby, smallest plane I ever flew on back then was an l-1011 most of my flights were on 747 most flghts almost had the whole plane to myself, been in the cockpit and sat frist seat too many times to remember.
Wow what a memory.
@@XLRSAv yes tail end of deregulation, planes took off on time full or completely empty
The Screamliner
My dad was a commercial airline pilot many years ago who could program a 747 but at home couldn’t operate a microwave…lol
My uncle was the same. 747 captain for United many years ago. I had to help him install a modem in his computer. He is 84 and enjoying his retirement life flying remote control planes!
Excelente Avión, gracias por el Video.
Opps Captain you touched your masked...gotta sanitize. LOL just kidding Great Vid!!
Haha, Thanks!
I can’t believe a super modern sophisticated plane like this still uses yokes to clutter up view of pfd! Backwards for sure.
Awesome. I've been Executive Platinum on American for 20 years. All I get is free peanuts....
I always wondered how comfortable the captain seats are
I’ll have to test that on my next cockpit tour (if it ever happens)
Can't remember what this button dose. Any hoo. Big thanks to all pilots. Fly safe. 🇮🇪
just wondering, how did u go about getting invited up to the cockpit for a full tour and explanation session right before a flight? ID LOVE TO EXPERIENCE THIS! did u ask the FA? or did u peak into the cockpit and ask if they could show u around? This was right before your flight and u didn't know any of them right? I always thought they wouldn't have time for that, or wouldnt entertain an adult versus a child asking. I'd love to know!
(1) I did not know any of them
(2) I met the captain and first officer at the Starbucks like in T1. I asked him where he was flying to and then, hearing that he was on the same flight as we were, I told him that I was planning i on going into flight training and asked if I could take some photos of the cockpit, knowing that it was very technologically advanced.
Also, thank you so much for the comment!
My Grandfather started flying for United in 1928. His instruments in a Boeing Model 40 looked nothing like this.
I thought the latest machines airplanes included should have less buttons and switches...I mean isn't everything supposed to be 'automated' ?
N19951, United's 2nd Boeing 787-9
Enjoyed it too!
Air india express kandu padikkatt United aayittulla flaight nokk❤
hardest part is replacing the paper roll in the printer
If there is ever going to be a pilotless autonomous plane I will for sure not be flying on one !!
There are discussions of getting to a single pilot where a computer flies the plane. The pilot is there to handle any problems that may occur.
And what happens if that one pilot has a medical emergency because some twin pilot planes do have issues ?@@deepthinker999
I want a 787 dreamliner, how can i buy it? 😁
I prefer dual control of the aircraft. Electronic and manual just in case you need back up
@mobidick6064 I’m not sure what your issue is. All commercial aircraft have dual control capabilities. On a typical flight, there is a pilot flying and a pilot monitoring. The pilot monitoring does the radio work, landing gear extension or retraction, flap position manipulation and button pushing for navigation. The captain sits in the left seat and the first officer sits in right seat. Seniority, and thus experience, earns the left seat. That said, the captain is not always the pilot flying. If the right seat person always just sat there, they would never gain experience. Also, automation has greatly reduced human error and reduced pilot workload. Flying is safer as a result.
@@TenMinuteTrips yes I'm aware of this to a greater degree. What I'm asking is if all the electronics stopped working, would you be able to know the altitude, speed etc and more importantly land the plane?
It's almost as good as an Airbus
Under 4 hours is really short for a 787.
Who needs a pilot?
So they run other tires about 10 lb below pressure for what reason😂
Haha! Many would wonder why as well. Tires lose pressure on every landing depending on the firmness of touchdown. Most are refilled after a few flights to prevent flats.
boeing 787 dreamliner vs airbus 350xwb
I’d love to do that comparison! Haven’t down on the 350 yet, but as soon as I do, i’ll do my best to get in the cockpit!
é muito botão será que não esuece nada ?
Wow
But 2 engines only boy
Is that a roll of toilet paper the pilot holds in the beginning? It is important to make sure you've got a sufficient amount of paper when taking off to a long-range flight
Feel humiliated to see this advanced engineering!

are masks required to fly it?
Een soort computer operator dus
How did you get permission to do this video?
Saw the captain in line at starbucks, asked where he was going, found out he was on the same flight as me and so I asked if I would be able to take photos of the cockpit. Hilariously simple.
It's a depressing sight: pilots with their faces covered.
Video was filmed in Jan 2022…masks off now!!
The only depressing thing is that you can't let it go
Isn't the a350 cockpit more advanced?
It’s certainly more ergonomic. The Airbus systems are also better laid out on the overhead panel and the pedestal, but both are pretty advanced flight decks. Incidentally, Airbus also have far comfier seats in the flight deck! The 787 is still an excellent aircraft.
A Boeing deixa a tecnologia apoiar o homem.
Agreed! Best case scenario when main systems go out is that the pilots have their ipads for navigation, as well as a non-electricity powered altimeter and artificial horizon.
I am sorry, Käpt'n liebt noch oder gesc, htorben, аллаи, Хара какая то, я на первом курсе учюсь,Кlar?
Why are they all wearing mask
Now the Chinese can build a cockpit …
Memories of masks give me hives!!!
This airline mandated the jab too…
Bunch of babies lol
@@firstlast--- Bunch of brainwashed nuts wearing them!
What's with the fear masks?
Filmed in Jan 2021…during covid
Don't you mean "face diapers"?
Gentlemen, I know this sounds silly, but does anybody here know how to fly a plane?
Great upload except the masks.
i still like the a350 better than 787..
I gotta fly a 359 sometime
How old is this? What's up with the masks?
Too many buttons. You need Elon Musk to get a hold of it and re-design it.
Really ? Masks?
