Love Extreme, but this song is seriously cringe and when I listened to Six immediately made me think of Flight of the Conchords' "Ladies of the World" which parodied this sort of thing 15 years earlier.

On the merits of just these two songs its clear that the two dudes from NZ are just better musicians. Must be their tour manager and dedicated fan(base) inspiring them.
That’s kind of an obvious effect of his living a sober lifestyle to me. Visit a few 12 step meetings sometime and you’ll see several different versions of that. Rock bottom is a great foundation to stand on, but a really shitty place to hang around. 😇 sobriety makes both honesty and looking up a necessity.
This is one of those songs that many fans will hate but might actually have a chance of being popular. It's far from great, but it is fun. Extreme has always done varied musical styles. Some resonate, some don't. Hell, they even call out one of their previous divergences, "When I First Kissed You". And don't forget "Tragic Comic". They often have a song on their album that seems like them just having fun. I enjoy them. Not every song has to be heavy; not every song has to be a showcase of their talent. Their willingness to play a wide range of music is what keeps me coming back to them, much like it did for me with Queen as well.

Yes! I like Extreme and each album isn’t a copy of another song..they writes songs that are within the total spectrum of rock.. but I am seriously a bit baffled as to this: if Justin is criticizing the song because they released it as a single and it’s a bit old fashioned, but a the same time he is judging it on old fashion music industry sales and hype... a rock song will never be a major top 40 hit or #1 ever again, not even an inkling of rock is popular in pop music today..and listen to the top 40 today and judge which songs are really sexist...so why can’t the rock community simply appreciate the fact that a fun Reggie-rock song is just fun, happy, positive? Nobody had a problem when the Beatles or Queen or Bowie or Sting (and they wrote some songs I wasn’t particularly fond of or liked) or other artist would venture off into other types of music ..its not the 90’s anymore where the rock scene was like a battle of the bands..Regardless, everyone has there own opinions and likes, but I think with this song, Justin is judging it way to hard for rock in 2024.

Cool tune, and cool that they're doing some different styles on their album, which used to not be unusual. Zeppelin, Stones, Beatles, Queen, Police, etc., all used to have, or strongly hint at, different styles, and it was awesome. It's a nice, fun, light, upbeat tune.
Producer/Drummer reporting in with unsolicited comment: It's not a reggae song but damn, if they went a different way, made this Reggaeton and leaned into Nuno's latin/played guitar for Rihanna and understands massive pop sensibility, this legit could have been a massive hit. I'd remix this song in a second and make this a banger if I had the opportunity. There's a lot of potential here.
Why would you find it sexist though, isn't it praising you for no other reason than being born female? Long time extreme fan here. Their records as a whole are not always the best. I think Six with a couple exceptions is a strong album. I actually like this one quite a bit. Extreme albums always have heavy hitters, funky stuff, and then some more conceptual and/or beatles-esque pop songs, reach songs if you will. From When I first Kissed You off Pornografitti to Tragic Comic off III sides, Unconditionally off of Punchline, Interface off of Saudades. Also, give Nuno's solo work a listen. It's all over the place. Plenty of reggae and latin rhythms. Check out Iron Jaw and Rescue by Population 1. No extreme record is quantifiable as a genre, they're all over the place. As far as this track goes, I think it's a breath of fresh air from the rest of Six, particularly from a production standpoint. The more thin, poppy percussion and acoustic guitars hides the abysmal production that plagues the rest of the record, particularly the loud tracks. This is a fun, light-hearted track. Is it the most creative? No, but taking it for face value I think it's a very fun backside album experience
The people complaining have an issue that the song isn’t called “Beautiful Boys”. Such a song is a must on an Extreme album. Nothing wrong with it. Love the harmonies, the guitar solo (with a nod to EVH) and the eye candy in the video. It’s a very catchy tune, give it a couple of listens.
To promote equality, the band should had worn swimsuits too😅 I absolutely agree with your point of view Justin! (and with Dan's enthusiasm at 14:00!!!🤣🤣🤣)
Ha, I just made a very similar comment but now see you beat me to the joke (curses!). Yes, bikinis for all or bikinis for none. Them's the (new) rules.
@@RVZNKaraoke Appears to be a decent range of ages there to be fair... but the younger ones are getting more screen time! At least they had enough sense to keep it very 'hands off' -- no physical contact between band members and women.
Definitely not one of their finest moments. It is what it is. It's light and poppy. Things could be worse. It's kind of reggae... Right? Best to stick with Van Halen's "Beautiful Girls" or The Beach Boys' "California Girls."
The song doesn't work. Two reasons I came up with: 1) No surprises in the songwriting. Every cliche is perfectly fit and predictable. It's like an algorithmic push for a Spotify list "Reggae Pop" 2) Mismatch in tone. When Gary sings in his upper register, the amount of breath and effort and vocal fry he uses completely destroys the vibe of the song. This is why they should leave it to Jack Johnson and his like, someone who can elevate the melodic line with a relaxing falsetto, or at least clean notes, to match the beach side vibe. Gary's scream-y voice is for hard rock or blues, but not this.
Massive fan of the Extreme, and of the Darkness. I love this track- it's definitely a novelty song, but is it that much more out to lunch than "When I first kissed you" or that country track they did? As has been pointed out, Extreme LOVE Queen, and queen did some pretty odd stuff too in terms of defying expectations. It's not like they did a whole album of reggae pop. Guitar solo is really fun, and Gary Cherone sounds great (as he does all over this album). Also, when listened to in album sequence I quite enjoy it as an intro the "Heres to the Losers", which is a great sing along song. A bit surprised it was put out as a single, but I think JHawk's theory of a long shot try for a surprise hit might be on the nose here. In summary, let's just be happy Extreme is still around. And you should for sure go see them on tour if you can- caught a show last summer and it was incredible. Then catching them again in September. Living Colour opening! You won't find a better night of guitar rock around (until the Darkness tour again).
I remember seeing Extreme at the Freddy Mercury Tribute gig, April 1992, Wembley stadium - so there's defo a massive Queen influence Fab show at the IOW Fest btw - I almost made the crash barriers!!
Respect to your opinion, JH. But, being a fan of Extreme, since Kid Ego, & being married to the most beautiful girl for over 30 years (& she likes being told she is beautiful), I have had a different take. 1. The video puts a different spin on the song. Not that the video is bad. But, the words express a vast whole beauty of the female person. Where the video puts emphasis on the body. Just because feminism exists does not stop people from relating to people. People want to cry sexist, yet people still dawn a bathing suit & go to the beach. All wanting to look their public best. This also applies to clothes worn to work, church, or mowing the lawn. Looking our best for various reasons is not sexist. The weakness is when we see beauty & betray it. There are a lot of meathead idiots out there that betray love & trust. Men & women. That is why we have chauvinism & feminism. Yet, this song is about the strength to see beauty & do right by our fellow humans. Be a person 2 women can play a guitar solo with, a woman can sit on a motorcycle with, & woman can drink with all without fear of being betrayed. 2. When Gary sings of making a beautiful girl his, why go to the most recent notion of interpreting those lyrics as incorrect? No one ever said a woman is not her own, just by being beautiful, nor by belonging to a man. When I hear lyrics like this I think marriage, ultimately, but also the pursuit of both man & woman to find that person, that is theirs. Most everyone is fumbling through life trying to find that place of peace where they are accepted by that special someone. Ultimately, there is a place still out there, where not only the wife is the husband's, but the husband is the wife's. This is not slavery, nor evil. But, it is mutual. And, it is supposed to be a meeting of equals, no matter how we want to see it. Regardless, of cultural thought, or popularity, marriage still exists in its best possible form. And, the best form still gets the best results. No one is perfect, & no one ever claimed to be. Culture, & media, do not speak for all people. People still long for that one true love, to be exclusive, & be a family, etc. Yes, the thought is that it is old fashioned, & possibly evil. But, not when it is mutual & the ultimate. Sex, relationship, kids, & family are all too much for one person to handle, by themselves & live up to its potential best. God made us to handle relationship together. Committed & mutual, equal, & different. Something the members of Extreme might agree to. 3. What exactly is wrong with a woman in a bathing suit? The lyrics should put the visual into context, & vise versa. Why make it a bad thing to enjoy a woman? All media takes advantage of beauty, & sex appeal. These ladies, in the video, each volunteered to prance & dance around in front of the camera. They have no problem being seen in bikinis, why should the viewer, & makers, of the video feel bad for liking it. The notion I got from the song & vid is true strength to engage, embrace, & not fear the whole woman, all women, of all walks, shapes, & sizes. Too much, today, we are too selective of what is proper. People can't be themselves without being told they are wrong & evil, when they are just going out & being nice people. It's like we cannot exist without making sure we shame people. But, then we police shame to only go to the correct person. Criminals should not be criminal, don't get me wrong. The world today is mixed up, the media says come together, but separate, too. What? Everyone is told they are racist, sexist, & whatever else-ist when most of us are not. I see this song as a nod to women, that when they think they are ugly, they are not. When they feel that no one likes them, they are liked, loved, & we as community care about them & their lives, loves, & exactly who they are. Hey ladies, you may think you are judged, condemned, & unworthy. You are not. You are beautiful. In mind, heart, body, spirit, & soul. God says, you are fearfully & wonderfully made.
You nailed it Justin! Nuno has always declared his love of Queen and their willingness to try to embrace musical styles and influences. They are not frightened to take musical risks! Rock on Extreme!😁👍
By the way the 1953 Rolex Just feels right, it makes me happy every time I looks down. I never liked large and clunky. Stopped video at 7:27 just to admire the watch! you wear it well!
I'm a rock and roll and metal fan and also enjoy all types of music. I've never liked extremes music because it never really spoke to my soul or moved me in an unconscious way, which is what I like with music. This album by extreme is great. For the first time, they put out an album that I can enjoy. Good for them for having the courage to do something they enjoy that's different. That shows real courage because their long-term fans will be throwing s*** at them for it. What's wrong with a band exploring different sounds? One of my favorite bands is ween because their songs cover all different styles of music, which is interesting and fresh to me. I appreciate beck for the same reason. When it comes to a metal band, Switching it up shows that they can write good songs outside of their normal groove. Even some of the best bands that only stay in their narrow niche ultimately are fairly limited as musicians.
I see you got a nicer hotel room than we (Blitzkrieg) did! 🤣 Nah, for real, great festival. We were super well looked after. You guys crushed it, as did Extreme!

Justin love the vids. Just heard the Mighty Status Quo are finishing touring. Got to see the originals back in the 70's. I have seen all the classic bands from that period and no one came near them as a live band. Sad day for RnR.
For once I disagree with your and others opinion. This song is just trying to have some fun. Just listen to it for what it is. If this weren't Extreme you would not be having the same conversation.
It's a sh**ty ballad comparing their previous ballads. Their new album "Six" is not that good, I don't like it except maybe "Banshee" which has a catchy riff. I liked their previous album "Saudades de Rock" which did not have as big hype as the new one but had better ballads such as "Ghost". They had so many great ballads "More than Words", "Song for Love", "Tragic Comic", "Unconditionally"... to name a few and comparing "Beautiful Girls" sounds like a cheesy joke to me.
I like it. I, too, thought it had a vibe similar to You Needs You by Queen. Nuno even got to some Brian May-type guitar. Btw, great to see Dan in the video. Hope that you guys on well.

2:10 “…probably THEE greatest guitar player on earth today…” Nah. *Tom Bukovac. But Nuno is certainly one of the runner-ups, along with John 5.
Watched you live at isle of wight.. you were all great ..good stuff
I add it to every mix tape..lol ..hey the ladies love it, and it always goes over great at parties
"Torn" is actually a cover from a band called Ednaswap. The original has more of a Bush vibe to it.
It makes Whigfield's 'Saturday Night' sound like 'Pneuma' by Tool.
To promote equality, the band should had worn swimsuits too😅
I absolutely agree with your point of view Justin! (and with Dan's enthusiasm at 14:00!!!🤣🤣🤣)
Totally. I just want to see Pat Badger in Borat’s thong 😊

Ha, I just made a very similar comment but now see you beat me to the joke (curses!). Yes, bikinis for all or bikinis for none. Them's the (new) rules.
Not just the inequality of the attire...but the men are a bit older than the girls, which makes it a tough sell for modern audiences.
If they removed that solo and instead just poked us all in the eyes, fundamentally, nothing would change.
“This shouldn’t have happened” 😂 spot on... same applies for when that awful singer ruined Van Halen
It's EXTREMEly bad. Ha ha!
Thanks!
The song doesn't work. Two reasons I came up with:
1) No surprises in the songwriting. Every cliche is perfectly fit and predictable. It's like an algorithmic push for a Spotify list "Reggae Pop"
2) Mismatch in tone.
100% accurate
Nailed it, good critique.
Yes, a good critique as the guy says, but I still like it. It's not predictable for a heavy rock group, and it made me smile!
I remember seeing Extreme at the Freddy Mercury Tribute gig, April 1992, Wembley stadium - so there's defo a massive Queen influence
Fab show at the IOW Fest btw - I almost made the crash barriers!!
I appreciate Extremes ability to "change it up" they are NEVER boring or predictable. Those guys can play anything.... Mad Props !
Brilliant vid and love Dan’s reaction ❤😂 can’t wait to see you guys back in Bonnie Scotland on Friday 🎸🎸❤️❤️
I really like the new album six. This song is very different to the rest of the album but I don't hate it.
I love the a cappella intro from Spain haha. Also I didn’t know they even had a new song. Never got into them. Nuno is cool. Right?
You nailed it Justin! Nuno has always declared his love of Queen and their willingness to try to embrace musical styles and influences. They are not frightened to take musical risks! Rock on Extreme!😁👍
By the way the 1953 Rolex Just feels right, it makes me happy every time I looks down. I never liked large and clunky. But the weird part about a metal watch, is it becoming the temperature of your body. Like it becomes part of you. Never knew it till I owned one, Now its that cool part of me factor I LOVE! Stopped video at 7:27 just to admire the watch! you wear it well!
That def isn't a 53 submariner, for sure a modern reference, has the date wheel, larger case etc. no hate intended though
Not a fan of this song at all. Feels forced and certainly doesn’t fit the vibe of the rest of the album, 6.
I can sing it very well yet not my style either 😂
I can't find "No, She Went of Her Own Accord" on the streaming sites, is it still on dubplate only? x
Nah, for real, great festival. We were super well looked after. You guys crushed it, as did Extreme!

Hey, soul sister...is that mister mister on the radio. stereo. blah blah...to a stock reggae beat. Nothing highlights the quality of your vocals and harmonies like processing them to death.
@@RVZNKaraoke Yes... that's the one
people had the same thoughts about Queen doing disco on hot space, but i love that album and extreme are very similar, love six, amazing album and im glad they threw this curve ball on the album what a nice surprise, love the channel Justin
Amateurs! If they wanted to do a song about pretty girls, they could have at least made Nuno do a guitar solo whilst surfing. It’s what a true rock god would do.
I know, right? Missed opportunity.
The solo was an homage to Eddie, he's done a lot of that since he passed, they were friends.
Dose your band still do shows.
I can't believe I never heard your music before a couple yrs ago here on utube.
I was going through a life changing injury for a few yrs must have been during that time.
They should have given this song to Olly Murs.
Oooohh!!! Nice one
"Freedom is the truest expression of love"
Love that!!!!
And that is a fact!!!
My only explanation is there were men off camera holding guns on them forcing them to do this awful awful song.
Makes "More Than Words" sound like Raining Blood
My favorite comment today 😂😂🤘🏻
HAHA!!!! well played...
You won this comments section, hands down
Justin love the vids.
Yeah true. It’s only worth remarking on because of the quality of their other work. Gold star.
Justin, I'm wondering if youve heard it yet and what you think of Deep Purples new releases..
They're back baby!! (My own personal opinion)

You were great at Rock Imperium!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘❤❤❤❤
I love clean cut JH. A little stubble is good. JH you look great and sharp for your age.
It’s complete shit…even Nuno can’t save it with a killer solo. The old adage of “just because you can do it….doesn’t mean you should” comes to mind.
This is one of Justin's most cohesive videos ever, talking about one of the most unforgivable songs ever written. Masterpieces all around, cheers.
People don't like anything nowadays unless it is dark, moody, dreary, and serious. It's OK to have a bit of fun once in a while.
Yeah, but not to this fruitcake song. It’s horrible. But then again, it’s Extreme, of course it’s going to suck balls
If they want fun they should have covered Aga doo
Of course. All the dark, moody and dreary Swifties all over the world...

What’s my opinion?
Open Fire is my favourite Darkness song & video.
They had so many great ballads "More than Words", "Song for Love", "Tragic Comic", "Unconditionally"... to name a few
and comparing "Beautiful Girls" sounds like a cheesy joke to me.
I like it. I, too, thought it had a vibe similar to You Needs You by Queen. Nuno even got to some Brian May-type guitar. Btw, great to see Dan in the video. Hope that you guys on well.
I can picture Gary begging the group to record this song and beg even more to make the video.
Gary only wrote the "where I first kissed you" line.
