Bohlinger does such a great job with the rig rundowns. His demeanor makes the artist comfortable and they are very enjoyable. Great interview with the EXTREME dudes.
I love that Nuno is a "shut up and play" and "it's all in your hands" kinda guy. He's not whoring himself out for a sponsor. He's not trying to sell you the latest pedal or whatever gear. His effects are sub $500 for everything lol!! THE GOOOOOAAAAAAAAAT
Nuno in my top guitarist list but so glad you done Pat's rig, gets a bit overlooked and does an awesome job... Nuno and Pat really compliment each other🤘🤘🤘
Love how Pat is like so many of us grinding on Reverb over a few hundred bucks on a $1k-$2k bass, when most of his peers are just snatching up whatever they want at twice the price.
I like how Nuno's amp/pedal rig is basically the rig I had in high school and figured it wasn't professional enough so I "upgraded"..............475 times. Apparently I was already set. 😂
Nuno could play a trombone and sound like Nuno. He achieved what every guitarist wants to achieve: he created his own sound which sounds like no one else.
Grover Allman is the pick company who makes their picks for anyone wondering. Also, I think we too often overlook what speakers/mics are used in/on the cabinets. Makes a huge difference, The only thing I thought was missing on an otherwise stellar rig rundown. Nuno is tha man. Pat is the Nuno of Bass. Love these guys.
For the mics, Nuno did a live show with Rick Beato recently, he said that he always uses a 57 and a 421 side by side. For the speakers, I have no idea but he's such a Van Halen fan that I'd guess he has some greenbacks.
@@Stef140 Yes, I recall that about the mics. Just wish they would talk about the placement and types in general more. Nuno has definitely used Greenbacks. But unsure of these new cabs he's been using on this tour.
From tech John Thayer: Nuno's speakers are Celestion G12T-75s. This guitar speaker combines a huge, tightly controlled low-end and aggressive mid-range with a softened top-end.
Nuno is a gentleman and a little naughty too. What a player! (it is in the hands). Yes it is! Who would not want Pat in their band? A super nice and approachable guy & great player.
A cool story about Nuno's Washburn 4N: his current favourite guitar - 4N - is actually his standard signature Washburn N4, but from the early 1992* (*corrected by the 1st owner to be 1991) run which was made by Stephen Davies - these are considered superior to later pieces. It was purchased new by another kid, Joe King, who then performed a bunch of mods to the guitar (including sanding the neck thus giving it this distinctive feel) and after many years sold it off on ebay, when he changed his music taste. At one point it was then purchased by Nuno (maybe even from the 2nd owner) and rest is history we know. There is an amazing video on RUclips from the 1st owner of the guitar, Joe King, called "The Untold History of Nuno Bettencourt's Washburn 4N (1991 to 2005)", where he details all those years with the guitar, how it was purchased, all the mods done to it - look it up, it's an amazing piece of history and a great story by itself. A bit of a shame that nobody at Washburn (and Nuno himself to be honest) ever acknowledged the early story and where all the intricacies of this particular guitar come from. Myself I would be thrilled to find out the story about my most cherished guitar and would love to share it. No hard feelings towards the tech, given his quite short tenure with Nuno :)
Hey, I'm that guy, the first owner of Nuno's 4N. Since the interviewer was asking pretty direct Q's about its history, I'm glad someone posted this. One correction, the 4N is a 1991, in fact serial #910815. Cheers!
What a great interview. Nuno has always been a hero of mine and Pat is so underrated. Not only is he a great bass player, but a great vocalist as well. Rock on!
I saw them in Tampa and they were so amazing. Caught a pick straight from Nuno that he threw after the last encore song, I’ve never caught a pick I was so excited! Can’t wait to see them again soon!
Nuno is the man, Pat is such a great bass player and a great singer too. Love Extreme and I passed that love to my kids which went to their first Extreme concert on March 8 in Orlando. We had a blast!!
Saw Extreme in Rochester, NY, not knowing their discography… and damn was that a show!!! They gained another fan from me. Nuno is a charismatic, talented dude, on and off the mic.
Those Mouradian basses are really great basses, I got to play one years ago and it was like a piano. But if you look, the shape is actually a C and an S, based on Chris Squire's signature. Some of them have pinstriping to highlight the C and S, but once you see it, you always see it!
Pat and Gary are two of the nicest people!! I've met nuno before, but never got to talk with him at length. being close with the Mouradian family, I've seen the evolution of these fantastic Rock Legends! Everyone know nuno is a unicorn... but Pat is a monster!!!
I am still completely bewildered (and I will continue to shout this from the rooftops!!). Washburn needs to get their sh*t together and bring back/recreate (exact specs - tapered headstock, curved back, made in Japan) their festival series acoustics!! I've owned a Tanglewood since '79, it is and will always be my #1. This same or similar model has been played by the likes of Nuno, J. Page, B. Dylan, G. Allman, Chaquico, Hiatt, Francis just to name a few. How a guitar manufacturer can ignore this legacy is beyond me. The current iteration doesn't touch the quality of these original models. Washburn... WTH?!?!?
Cool down to earth. Nuno with his great humor. I can feel something funny will happen. 😂 Pat with his hat, really proud where he's coming from. You guys are awesome. Legends.
Nuno Bettencourt is insanely talented I recently seen them back home in Boston I was fortunate enough to be front row and I caught three of Nunos guitar picks
Nuno is definitely an absolute beast of a guitarist, man, such an insane player and definitely super versatile from Extreme to his work with Rihanna (which was how I actually first heard him, I don't listen to a lot of Rihanna but his playing with her was great as well) and he's a super nice dude from everything I've seen of him as well
My story. Huge fan since porno came out when I was 15 or 16.... Bought an N2 new in 91 or 92 , because I couldn't afford the N4 (sitting right beside it in the store) which was about 600 bucks more. 😢 . But still have my N2 today and play it every day. The amount of hours I have on it is insane. Bought my 10 year old at the time a 92 N2 I found cheap , we rebuilt it together and he's now 17 and SHREDS !!! He really is amazing. .... And I still don't have an N4. Wish I could find one that's not 3 or 4 grand. Just cant justify it right now. But have saved searches everywhere hoping for one day.
EVH will forever be the GOAT but Nuno comes as close as I think anyone could possibly get to matching King Edward's mix of blazing but still melodic lead playing and superhuman (and underrated) sense of rhythm. Seeing him tear it up from the front row 2 weeks ago was more amazing than I ever thought it could be. He's the last of the breed now that EVH is gone.
I totally understand what he's saying about the thickness of the paint on the guitar pick The three that I caught during the show you could see that it's losing the paint from being held and also from strumming the strings
4:40 neck will bow, you lose tension from one string and that lost tension allows the neck to unbow and then the other strings get out of tune, usually sharp

@premierguitar Just FYI, the name of the pick company they use is Grover Allman from Australia.
Pat is so underrated
Pat is an amazing bass player and great vocalist, I agree
CUPID'S DEAD....TOP 3 BASS LINE EVER
I'm glad they're back and flourishing.
Absolutely, Roll on Extreme 7 😂❤❤❤
Me dos!
Nunos too frikkin good for Extreme to not be playing together. And he belongs with them
Indeed. They got caught up in the wake of grunge wiping out pop rock/metal.
Bohlinger does such a great job with the rig rundowns. His demeanor makes the artist comfortable and they are very enjoyable. Great interview with the EXTREME dudes.
And he's so passionate and curious! He really loves what he does
Pat is a really down to earth guy and so overlooked it’s ridiculous
Pat seems like such a nice guy. So humble and calm
I feel sorry for Bohlinger - Nuno taking the mick and he is powerless to respond.

Nuno and Pat really compliment each other🤘🤘🤘
In case anyone does not know, Bill Lawrence's widow Becky and daughter Shannon still make his designs accurately at Wilde Pickups.
Pats part love the shoutout to the Mouradian’s! Was so lucky to have met him and service my stuff before he passed growing up.
Jim Mouradian was an awesome guy. He worked on several of my guitars and basses. So missed. RIP
It’s great to see Pat. He is one of my favorite players. So underrated.
At 02:55, It’s a Seymour Duncan 59 in the neck position of the N4’s, not a JB.
Awesome stories from Pat, such a great and humble guy! Thanks for this video!
So glad you folks are including more bass players in the rig rundowns! Thank you thank you! Keep it up! 😀Be well- Brent, VT
Love how Pat is like so many of us grinding on Reverb over a few hundred bucks on a $1k-$2k bass, when most of his peers are just snatching up whatever they want at twice the price.
Mouradian did all the repair and setup for my basses in the 80s-90s, great to hear about Pat's in his familiar accent.
protect nuno bettencourt at all costs.
The guy is a gem

Pat has one of the most recognizable sounds in bass. His sound is such a huge part of the whole Extreme package.

Fun fact: the bumblebee guitar was also Dimebag's absolute favorite. When he passed, Eddie donated it to the family to be buried with him.
Quite a few number of years. Bold prediction Cotton
