I have significant hearing impairment and wear super-powered hearing aids. My Bluetooth hearing aid adapter crapped out so my employer got these for me to use with our softphone. Because of the sharpness of the sound (strong high frequency amplification), I can understand human speech very well. I'm sure there aren't many hearing impaired gamers out there but thought this might be important to mention because it really saved me. I'm on the phone a lot.
Noise rejection is the hum or buzz that results when audio power amplifiers or similar devices create a good set of grounds or noise around the inputs that are not rejected properly..... I believe the term you're looking for is noise canceling which is the feature that will filter out or ignore background noise in favor of the main input to the microphone which would be your voice

The command center work on the A20 gen 1. They got rid of the little box for a dongle. So that sucks, probably since the new consoles got rid of optical. Great review

Thanks Bacca! Indeed! It’s what we used for the mic test. The PlayStation version comes with an adapter that also works on PC with nothing else needed.
I'm pretty sure it's astro, studio and pro because studio does not give you deeper muffled sound with deeper base and the third beep mode gives you the deep muffle with deeper base the second beep is not like that it sounds more like studio then what the 1st and 3rd beep does!
Some games are different sound quality too. I have cordless Rig 800LX for Xbox and pretty loud on COD and I have to turn them down. But on Ghost Recon Wildlands I have to run Dolby Atmos with gain all the way up on all settings to even hear well and still not that loud.

Thanks so much for the kind words and support Chad. To pair the two, keep you A20 Gen 2 headset off. Plug the new transmitter into your PS5. Press and hold the button on your transmitter until it starts blinking. Then, on your headset, press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds until the light starts blinking on it. It should quickly pair with the headset and you should be good to go after that. Best of luck!
These are very very comfy on the head. But I noticed they don’t cancel noise or sound as good as my dads turtle beach stealth 600. But I’ll take comfort any day

Thanks so much! The LS35X feel like a much higher quality headset, with better adjustability and ear pad comfort. The LS35X headphones get extremely loud, but with no EQ modes, can "seemingly" lack the bass that the Astro A20 has when you use the bass-heavy preset. The LS35X mic is better as well. Honestly you can't go wrong with both. Price wise, the A20 Gen 2 retails for less so it's not a bad value. With the LS35X being older, it uses Micro USB whereas the A20 Gen 2 switched to USB-C which is nice.
Anyone else having mic issues with their a20 (xbox series x)? I can hear game sounds, people in party chat, but I cannot communicate with them? As if my mic is muted. Anyone resolved this?
Awesome review man. I had the 600's immediately had to take them back. Between the clamp force being uncomfortable and the mic picking up my kids in the background I had to immediately take them back lol. Look at these A 20's or the Artics 7P for my PS5. Leaning towards the Astro since I want to pick up the new xbox later some time.

It's kind of hidden but you can press in above and below the volume wheel to adjust your game/chat mix on Xbox. They are basically touching the volume wheel.
What sucks about the stealth 700 turtles is that they could go out after a couple months mine and my brothers went out last week almost at the same time his was 2 days later and we treated them fine charged every night

Just ordered the Astro A20 Gen 2 sounds like it will be exactly what I'm looking for. I had the Stealth 600 Gen2 and my friends would say they would hear EVERYTHING in the background. The AC my dad walking down the hall lmao like dam that's too much huge deal breaker for me. The whole flip mic concept is really awesome though. I'm glad I was able to find the Astro A20 Gen2 can't wait.
You know what's funny? The A20 Gen 2 has grown on me a lot. I have a bunch of different headsets and at $120 this easy sounds closer or better than most $150-160 models from other brands. If the shortcomings on the mic/adjustability aren't a deal breaker, this is a great value.

You bet! The A20 is a great value in a pure sound experience for the money, but for $30 more the Stealth is more comfortable, has a much better mic, and Bluetooth.

I suffer from the same pressure point problem on my head as you and also I don't understand how to make the voice quieter than the game sound. I previously had PS4 Golds which sound wise were awesome and customizable however I give them a F for durability. These seem way more durable with a much longer battery life but I struggle to hear which direction the footsteps are actually coming from. Any tips and tricks would be much appreciated.
Yes, but you have to purchase the Xbox transmitter for it on the Astro website. Once you do that, pair the new USB transmitter with your old headset it and will work

i play in my living room where i have a desk set up in a corner so i have a-lot of background noise and stuff going on int the background what mic do you recommend for me ?
On the lower price side the A20 Gen 2 and HyperX Cloud X Flight have decent noise rejection. The Stealth 700 Gen 2 has a noisegate option in the app which helps a lot but it's not perfect. Best noise gates out there belong to the Astro A40 + Mixamp Pro or the A50 Gen 4s, but they are both a lot more than this. Hope that helps!

Hold the mode and Bluetooth button down at the same time for 10 seconds and it will reset the headset. Hopefully that solves your problem. Check the turtle beach audio hub app to see if it needs a firmware update as well.

You can adjust your chat volume on your headset. Also in the side dashboard on your xbox. There is alittle sound symbol when you hit the home button. Bottom right.
Are you on PS or Xbox? The Xbox one may sound different than PS, but I never had a Playstation version to test. Not sure what you could change on this, but I guess check if there are any firmware updates available. If you're using this directly on PC, perhaps check stream settings for bitrate/sample rate and test by recording and playing back. Maybe you can find some settings that sound better.
Preset 1 is the best balanced, avoid 2 (too much bass). Preset three is really bright/sharp sound which helps with details but could hurt your ears. I would experiment between 1 and 3.

It's not paired correctly. Try power cycling the headset, unplug the transmitter, reboot your console, and try again. Should be working fine after that
Got these for my ps5. Believe I'm gonna exchange them for something else. They have 0 Mic monitoring. 😥 love the quality of sound that comes out of them but no mic monitoring is aggravating.

If you are stuck with the A20 Gen 2 PS version and cannot change it, Astro offers the Xbox transmitter separately for $20. That allows you to use the same headset for both consoles (just use the right adapter for each one and you're good to go).
Ill never understand how Astros mics get worse as the price gets higher, By far the A10s mics are the best in the series, and are the cheapest, A50s sound awful and for the price are not worth, neither are the A20s or A40s All I want is a wireless version of the A10s, add like $50 to the current astros A10s and ill buy them right now lol.

So far that is correct. It’s possible in a future firmware update but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Hold the game button for less voice volume and hold voice for more....

How do I increase the sound my volume just stays one volume and I can’t figure out how to increase it the wheel doesn’t increase the volume
There are tiny buttons on each side of the volume. Try tapping the game icon button to see if you can fade more towards that.

Yes, but you have to purchase the Xbox transmitter for it on the Astro website. Once you do that, pair the new USB transmitter with your old headset it and will work

On the lower price side the A20 Gen 2 and HyperX Cloud X Flight have decent noise rejection. The Stealth 700 Gen 2 has a noisegate option in the app which helps a lot but it's not perfect. Best noise gates out there belong to the Astro A40 + Mixamp Pro or the A50 Gen 4s, but they are both a lot more than this. Hope that helps!

Hold the mode and Bluetooth button down at the same time for 10 seconds and it will reset the headset. Hopefully that solves your problem. Check the turtle beach audio hub app to see if it needs a firmware update as well.

You can adjust your chat volume on your headset. Also in the side dashboard on your xbox. There is alittle sound symbol when you hit the home button. Bottom right.

Usually means battery is getting low or there's no connection to the wireless dongle.

My mic on my a20s sounds terrible on my stream almost robotic sounds a lot worse than your audio test, any way to fix this?
Are you on PS or Xbox? The Xbox one may sound different than PS, but I never had a Playstation version to test. Not sure what you could change on this, but I guess check if there are any firmware updates available. If you're using this directly on PC, perhaps check stream settings for bitrate/sample rate and test by recording and playing back. Maybe you can find some settings that sound better.

Which audio preset would be better for footsteps in game?
Preset 1 is the best balanced, avoid 2 (too much bass). Preset three is really bright/sharp sound which helps with details but could hurt your ears. I would experiment between 1 and 3.

It's not paired correctly. Try power cycling the headset, unplug the transmitter, reboot your console, and try again. Should be working fine after that
Got these for my ps5. Believe I'm gonna exchange them for something else. They have 0 Mic monitoring. 😥 love the quality of sound that comes out of them but no mic monitoring is aggravating.

@@Pop_hunter A20 Gen 2 sounds almost as good as the A50 Gen 4 it’s crazy. It’s just not as comfortable as the A50 and the mic isn’t as god but it still sounds amazing.

If it’s the PlayStation version it doesn’t work on Xbox, that’s why it’s called playstation
If you are stuck with the A20 Gen 2 PS version and cannot change it, Astro offers the Xbox transmitter separately for $20. That allows you to use the same headset for both consoles (just use the right adapter for each one and you're good to go).

Once plugged in with the included USB transmitter, set your audio output to Xbox Controller in Windows.
Ill never understand how Astros mics get worse as the price gets higher, By far the A10s mics are the best in the series, and are the cheapest, A50s sound awful and for the price are not worth, neither are the A20s or A40s
All I want is a wireless version of the A10s, add like $50 to the current astros A10s and ill buy them right now lol.
