    Typically in these videos I try to RNG Competitive Pokemon of a previous world winning team for VGC. But in this video, I want to try something different. I am building a standard Smogon team, but allowing any glitches and multiple systems at once. This lets me showcase how money saves time, and glitches save time. I think both of these time saving devices showcase how gamefreak didn't consider competitive play till at least gen 5. Hope you enjoy!

A good in-between, assuming they don't try to limit something (like always max IVs despite that being in optimal for all special attackers and trick room mons)

      @@TheEmeraldboy100 no because the whole thing with proxies is that they aren't allowed in the rules, because they aren't real copies of the cards, and aren't made by the TCG people. If they did this in a game, it'd actually be way better because the only thing is that you can tell if a Pokemon was made in the simulator or is from an actual game, while still being in the actual game. So I guess it's proxies but better, no grey area. The issue is that they'd need to implement it

    One thing I think is undercounted is the amount of hours it takes to learn and become proficient in the glitches, especially across many games. Competitive pokemon should have a system to submit a team sheet then generate the mons for use at the tourney

      When you are playing smash competitively you should be provided game pads every time ?
      When you play tennis they should provide you with a racquet every game ?
      Football or basketball clubs should give shoes to the players?
      Be for real, most competitive sports/e-sports/games require a lot of hours and personal investment to participate in and be good at. Why should pokemon be different?

    • @Trainedmist39
      @Trainedmist39 3 месяца назад +3

      @raphchelly3413 Pokémon should be different because it is the only example you gave that you have to repeatedly do this. In tennis, you do not need a new racket every time to perform well. In Pokémon you do need a new team to perform well. It already takes hours to plan out a team for every tournament, and the physical building part is completely unnecessary. The only part of your argument that could be even applied here is if OP was asking for supplied hardware, which he was not. Simply Gamefreak adding a free to use team sheet.

      @@Trainedmist39 "pokémon should allow players to cheat" is a bad position to argue no matter what you'll say.
      Any sports requires you to stay in physical shape or accentuate the training on a particular aspect. Plenty of ppl have private coaches on top of the regular training.
      If you play smash bros you are required to provide your own controller, usually ppl will have a spare and will need to change controllers often.
      If you play tcg's, you might play a certain deck for one event only and then the meta game adapts and you'll need to change deck a little or completely.
      So no, you shouldn't have the right to cheat and hack your games. 1st it's illegal in Japan to hack your switch so it will never happen, complaining against something that will not change and break the rules bc you don't like them is cheating and is a poor showing of character.
      Nobody forced VGC players to compete, they decided to do it then stick to the rules.

    • @Trainedmist39
      @Trainedmist39 3 месяца назад +2

      @raphchelly3413 I literally didn't say Pokémon should allow cheating. I said they should implement a system so everyone has equal access to easy teams. OK just what. There's many things I can say about the newer Pokemon games, good and bad, but that "they're designed around a multiplayer metagame" is definitely not one of them. The multiplayer aspect of the games is as much as an afterthought as it was in earlier generations, in fact it might even be even more of an afterthought given how badly they gave up on having even a semblance of balance in Scarlet / Violet with so many completely broken Pokemon, Dynamax in Sword / Shield, etc. They made having competive Pokemon a little bit easier, but that was a trivial fix that didn't affect the overall game one bit, in fact Scarlet / Violet are clearly one of the more fleshed out single player RPG experiences in the Pokemon series to date, with their massive emphasis on story and characters.
      I can't even begin to comprehend how one would think any recent game is "designed around a multiplayer metagame".

    I think there could be a lot of value in "bling" aspects of pokemon. I'm thinking like blinging a TCG deck. If you spend all the time catching/breeding/training manually, you get cool visuals/titles type of things. If you use the super shortcutted verison, you get a boring stock looking mon. I know shinies achieve this somewhat, but I think they should lean into it harder. Players who consistently play with certain mons for a season/generation will likely take their "off" time to go catch and train up the coolest possible version. People who quickly need a team last minute can get something functional in no time.

    As much as I think grinding for a team without cheating is pretty tedious, I think that the balance between practicing and getting perfect IV teams, with RNG of course, is not terrible. You have to pick, do you want more practical experience or do you want better stats? I don't think those who cheat perfect stats in ALWAYS deserve to win these tournaments simply because although they may have put in a lot of hard work practicing, they did not earn the pokemon themselves. Is it flawed in general? Absolutely, but there is a give and take that makes it not as bad as it appears.

    • @OsirusIrdia
      @OsirusIrdia 6 месяцев назад +4

      I'd argue that there should be no give and take since skill in obtaining a legitimate team does not matter in a tournament, have the best team and being the best trainer are what matters. The easiest way to alleviate this issue is to just implement a battle sim where a tournament player can create the team the think is best while not actually owning the team since they did not grind to obtain it.

    I think the best solution for the story vs competitive modes would be make ranked battles a simulator on cart where you can change the values of pokemon you have in game, these values are only changed for ranked. Then you still have to at least play the game and catch stuff (or someone has to give it to you which costs them a pokemon) but instead of spending hours on catching you just catch it once and mod it, but you still have the option of breeding and resets if you want a really good pokemon for your play through. as for a solution for this I think what gamefreak/pokemon company/ and Nintendo should do is...
    Have a central competitive game that will be the base for all games.
    When you transfer a pokemon to it you can convert them into points for the species. after you get x amount you can then start to "build" your own pokemon with IV's EV's, Natures, Abilities, etc.
    certain held items would be available ( like chancy's lucky egg, or cubone's bone) would also be an option besides rare candies, stones, evolution items, and or battle items.
    All new games would provide a new move, item, or ability ( and or gimmick) that you can earn for the central competitive game. Thus giving players reason to go out and buy the new games.
    Pokemon go, bank, and everything connected to that would be able to be used to move all your old pokes into. ( less storage problems for the servers, while providing more options for those who still kept their collection from back then and continue to grow with it )
