Just the other day I was feeling so happy, many old memories from the past coming back to me. It's winter where I live and I've popped two extra blankets on my bed, one I got as a 21st gift from my grandparents and the other a blanket I crocheted when I was 20yrs old, I'm close to sixty now and still enjoying them. I couldn't buy the memories and happiness that these blankets give me in the shops in town. Love to you and Molly. P.s the clouds looked spectacular as you were driving along 💙
Yes, it's great to have memories with a story. I still have the first little sweater my mother knitted to me and it means more to me than stuff I can buy
Molly is just so sweet ❤ I don't buy much but of course I have a passion: drawing stuff and it's ok to have that in a simple, slow life as a good sketchbook last long and a new pen now and then doesn't ruin me - slow life is about doing things at it's right pace and you can buy stuff that makes you happy. A good day to you and Molly 🐈⬛🙋♀️

Thanks for the video. Individuals should define what a luxury is to them. My luxury is getting supplies for my hobbies. Which in turn gives me endless hours of enjoyment. I've lived below my means for a long time now which affords me the "luxury" of being able to afford getting hobby supplies I need every now and then.
That is perfect. I think that attitude comes when someone truly wants to encourage and impart knowledge of something they love. It’s just honesty, and sometimes that’s in short supply.
I know what you mean Nigel, about consumerism rearing it’s ugly head , I have mostly tried to live a frugal life ( out of necessity) but occasionally when I buy something I just fancy and not actually need I’m often disappointed with it and it hasn’t risen to expectations 🥴
After 20 years of not having a car I have decided to buy a small, second hand car. I want to take my little dog out and about and by public transport it's incredibly difficult (a 10 mile journey was a 5 hour round trip!). I'm also getting a second rescue dog, so I don't think I am doing very well spending less.
You just overturned your own argument. 😁 Getting a car as an alternative to spending all day on public transport is just common sense, and if you do as few miles as me, you probably won’t spend much more than you do now. As for getting a rescue, Molly is a rescue and I think that is the best thing anyone can do. 😊
That Molly is adorable! Nigel, I like what you said about temptations in getting things “that you didn’t know or think you needed”! So true! Thanks for the video🍃🌼💕
Ah, it’s a good idea to pause, think and get back to basics now and then, it’s so easy to get pulled off track 👍 Coffee beans have been ground, I’m enjoying a quiet cuppa while bread is rising, watching the Summer rain teeing down outside (again!) and chuckling at my dog running a marathon in his sleep 😂 Love this video, thanks Nigel. Happy slow Sunday one and all xx
Looks like Molly has got chilling down to a fine art. We could all learn a lesson from her. Simple needs, simple pleasures and contentment with a simple life. She’s a good role model 😊
Always happy to see a new video and love to hear all the topics, both basic and "complicated" ones. It's like I finally get to experience having a wise grandfather to listen to. Now, it's time to step back and chill. Peace and love!
Your videos always lift my day, complicated or simple! 🥰I learned from another channel the idea of having low spend or no spend months (meaning after the mandatory stuff like rent, etc.), and as I've done some of these, I've really fallen in love with it - during a low or no spend month, I feel so amazingly peaceful and contented. It really does me a lot of good to just ditch the anxiety of negotiating my mind through the stores for a few weeks. Plus I come up with really good meals through trying to use up what I have.
I think you put it perfectly. I feel so much less stress in a spend less lifestyle. Spending on enjoyment brings its own stresses. Balancing finances is probably the most stressful part of most people’s lives. Having less outgoings = having less stress.
I can't eat sugar, hyper-sensitive to it, but wow, so much of life wants me to buy it! So much temptation! But oh, let me tell you, each time I turn them down, SUPER MORAL BOOSTER!! Life is to enjoy, not to just go from one high to another. Loved this video, perfect!
