- This video will show you how to use the calculated shipping feature on Etsy while also offering buyers combined shipping costs when they buy more than one item. I had a hard time figuring this out, so I thought I would share for anyone who could use it!

That's a good move! Thanks for sharing. I had a customer order 4 1oz boxes of Danish Nails recently and the shipping was over $45. I felt mortified. Refunding them would be a nice touch.
Hello Timmy, I just had this same issue. I recently changed my shipping from free shipping to calculated shipping and a customer ordered 10 or our racks, I can definitely fit 10 racks in one box but Etsy figured it as one rack per box ( I’m sure I messed up on the shipping somewhere) so I’d have to send 10 boxes since I’m using Etsy labels. My question is, how can I ship all the items in one box and give her a refund? Since each label has a price of $16. I’d only need one but would be more than $16 for sure. Hope I make sense.

This was great information…but I have a situation where I need to split my order…
2 items will go in one box @ free shipping and the 3rd item on the order will be shipped in a separate box at the customer shipping cost…
I can’t combine all 3 items to one box because all 3 items are large!

With all of the comments listed below, it's obviously an Etsy Issue. You would think Etsy would address this with some sort of "Help" feature. But, I guess not.

So when we list the item and put in the dimensions for shipping we should put the dimensions of the actual item?
So, how do you then use the package preferences? I selected free shipping over 35, but how do you make it so that it will just charge 'me' the seller for one label per 5 pieces before they need another label/box?

@Slide-A-Jar LLC Honestly I don't think I actually figured it out. What I did was I had a different listing For anywhere between 1 and 5 pieces and it was free shipping for anything over 1
@@oftheborg I understand. I had the free shipping option before but that didn’t work for what I sell. I was not making anything, Items are 3-4.5 lbs each so it varies . I have it set up on my website but can’t figure it out on Etsy to do the calculation on multiple items. Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated 🙏
I'm in the Uk so my Etsy looks a little different, I don't have the package preferences or a lot of those options, such a bummer!
I have a question, does it also calculate how much it ships by the size of the box you put in for dimensions? For example if someone orders 3 items but they all fix into one box, is the shipping cost going to be one of the items or does the box it selects have a set cost?

Hi, I already have my one package size/name in there. All my sales are rigid mailers for greeting cards and are the same size. Even if a customer buys 5 they all fit, but they still get charged 5 times for shipping. I must be missing something. Please help 😮💨

What about the check off box for common etsy package sizes ?
how do you verify all this ? I signed out of etsy, found my shop and put several things in the cart... The shipping fee just kept multiplying. This did not work !
Same here, I don't understand it. Really frustrating, if I'm shipping art prints and someone buys 2 of literally the same size, of course I'm going to ship it in one mailer. Don't double the shipping cost!! So stupid, wish I could understand how it thinks.
Hi, I don't know if you solved the problem yet, but if you haven't, try this: On the package type choose "Custom", then put in the dimension and price. Hope this help.
