    For what it's worth. I struggle with horses, because if they don't look real, they don't look good. This really looks like an amazing method.

      I'll be honest i didn't like painting them either - they always felt like a chore, but i wanted to do Rohan so i needed to find. away that i would be happy. Speed paints came to the rescue for what i had in mind, with a couple paints you can create a few tones really easily, and if it saves me time and they look good from a foot or two away then im all for it! :):)

    Hey as a colorblind painter this as honestly the best guide I could have hoped for! I really would love more color guides for alternate horses. I’ve already painted several of my lotr Calvary units following this guide and would kill for some variety. Even just letting us know the two colors to use would help tremendously

      Is there anything else that you could suggest for these style videos that I could do to accommodate you further? :)
      And yes! I have a fair amount more cavalry that I have built and I will be doing more horse tutorials with different colours/markings. So please keep a look out for them! :):)

      honestly you make these so incredibly easy for someone like me. You list the color, Explain what it’s supposed to do and show how much of it should be applied. (For varying tones and shades that I can see even if i have no idea what the actual color is!)
      And I’m super excited to see what additional ones you come up with, definitely holding out on a few Cavalry models just so I can use your guide as soon as it comes out 👍

    Nice work. I'd flip the colours though. Horses are often lighter below than they are above.

    • @SwordsandBrushes
      @SwordsandBrushes  2 месяца назад

      May try that on the next video, but looking at Google I only see a couple horses that are lighter beneath.
      I'll tend to make them darker on miniatures for tabletop gaming so it's mimicking a light source from above.
      Although I do like having shaggy haired/fur beasts and animals lighter on the bottom like wolves and wargs, just so it has a pattern on the fur :)

    I've had similar results with contrast paints through an airbrush. They work incredibly well but you have to clear your airbrush with iso otherwise it won't clean out properly

    What advice do you have to get started with airbrushes on a budget?

    • @SwordsandBrushes
      @SwordsandBrushes  6 месяцев назад +2

      Great question!!!
      I only started airbrushing a few years ago so i will try to answer my thoughts from then and now for you..
      Id say buy a kit first to get you going and get used to how it all works. A basic set from somewhere like amazon is around £60.
      You get a compressor, airbrush, cleaning kit. Definitely buy a cleaning container and handle and a mask they are very useful and stay safe.
      The compressor i use nowadays is still running strong, the airbrush did start to fall a part after a year as it looks a bit cheaper in quality "the areas where it screws together started to fade and it wouldnt - screw!)
      BUT, it got me going which is the main thing.
      I started with a cardboard box, dust sheet which was blu- taced to the wall around me and had an open window so you can start there and if and when you feel comfortable and have the space you could go for an airbrush booth.
      Paint wise - you could just get a starter set, or just a few paints to get you going and try it on some miniatures and have a play - i think you learn a lot by just jumping in and having a go, you figure a lot out very quickly and it makes it super enjoyable :)
      CLEAN!!!
      I gave up on airbrushing for nearly a year because i hated cleaning it and it kept clogging and i was getting very frustrated, my main bit of advice is - ALWAYS CLEAN AT THE END OF YOUR SESSION!! your future self will thank you ALOT.
      I use some vallejo airbrush cleaner and use that at the end, but my new thing (been doing it for a year now) is to have a dropper bottle of water mixed with a smidge of dish soap, i use that inbetween every paint - takes a few seconds to brush it through and then i move onto the next paint.
      It just cleanses the airbrush a bit and helps greatly.
      Sorry for the long reply, but i hope that you will find it useful! :):)
