    More of this on different minis. The best ad is to use your own products in interesting ways... this kind of video should be a regular ;)
    For beginners, maybe add a textured surface board to the range of products that they can prime and paint combinations on?

    Very nice video. Love the marketing/community support recently and speedpaints really helped me convert a lot of grey plastic into playable miniatures.
    I have been playing around with the speedpaint base and warpaint drybrushed highlights, but I usually struggle with identifying the "right" highlight colour from the warpaints colors to drybrush over speedpaints. Maybe you guys could release a pdf/video with recommendations for the speedpaint range? I think that would be handy. Could potentially help cross selling as well. ;)

    • @KrullMaestaren

      Something that might help is to print or buy a color wheel. Learn a bit of color theory and it makes a lot more sense. Neighboring colors, opposite colors, triangles etc... 😉 It gets fun when it "clicks". You will also develop a feeling for all this stuff over time.
      A simple trick is to save the random leftover bits when you build minis. Glue them to something like a flat surface and you will soon have your own "texture surface" (for free) 🥳
      You can then prime it and apply speedpaints (or other paints) and test different combinations safely before applying them to miniature.
      I sometimes also do tests on square grid paper when I am looking at transparency etc for glazes. How much of the grid can I still see after X layers? What happens if I add this other color on top of the previous color?

    Superb tips. I have been using 45 of the Army Painter Speedpaints for the last month for a Fantasy Miniature nostalgia blast project and I must say they have brought back the real enjoyment of painting fantasy miniatures and units again and without these paints I would never have started it. These to me are the best of all of the speed paints on the market and I love how flexible and versatile they are. I have enjoyed using them so much I will eventually buy the full range as they have made an older miniature painter very happy. I just wish they had been around 40 years ago when I first started painting. All the very best, Darren Matthews

    I'll be honest, as a newbie to the hobby I always imagined speedpaint to only be useful for doing slapchop which kinda pushed me away a bit. On the other hand, this was super easy to follow and shows you can pretty much use speedpaint just like regular acrylics by glazing and such. Definitely interesting in trying some of this stuff out now.

    Could you recommend using speedpaints on larger models with large flat surfaces? I have a few armigers but I'm a bit nervous to try a new technique on such a nice model.

    • @TheArmyPainter
      @TheArmyPainter  Месяц назад +1

      It definitely works best on surfaces with more texture to them. To get the best results with Speedpaint on a large flat surface like an Armiger's carapace, I would try mixing in more Speedpaint Medium and building up several thinner layers. Speedpaint also works very well through an airbrush, but will give you more of a uniform colour that way as opposed to the shadows and highlights of applying it by brush.

  • @LarryDarkMite2

    is there a recommended airbrush primer for speedpaints? I've pulled primer off of my models using both 1.0 and 2.0 speedpaints, using both Badger and Monument Hobbies airbrush primer. I'm about to try Vallejo primer next, but the common denominator seems to be speedpaint. I'd really like to avoid rattle can primers if possible. Thanks

      I use badger and have 0 issues. I had a mini I painted the other day that I wasn't happy with and just went scratched at it from every angle with my fingernail and couldn't get the finish or the primer to come up at all. When using badger I always give it a full day to dry before painting. At what point of the process are you having the primer pull off?
