    I currently have a 2023 F250 and love it I have had a GMC Sierra, Toyota Tacoma ,and now the Ford. I have had a great experience with all 3 and I also don’t feel a need to be strictly loyal to one brand.

    Not sure about the 6.6 but the 7.3 has a flat torque curve w 80% of max torque available at 1600 rpm. Also the 6.6 uses direct injection while the 7.3 uses port injection reducing/eliminating carbon build up on the intake valves.

      Gotta run 91 on the ford. GM tuned on 87 and makes very close to the same up and tq as Ford.

      @M_dot202 4 месяца назад

      @@bdickey0581 We ran 87 in the 7.3. The higher octane did yield more power and better mpg. The better mpg did not offset the higher cost of premium fuel. Premium fuel allows the engine to produce full power but 87 was specified in the 2020 owners manual.

      I've got a 2022 GMC 2500 with the L8T. Supposedly the injection pressure eliminates the DFI carbon build up issues. Time will tell. I tow a 13k lb 5th wheel. Has treated me great so far

    I'm a Ford guy but didn't buy one this time.
    There were many factors in my decision to buy my '24 GMC over the Ford and you touched on a few but here are some of mine.
    The dealership really pissed off my wife when we started zeroing in as they were charging $10,000 over sticker price for the ones on the lot so I had her whispering in my ear to go elsewhere. She tends to hold a grudge.
    In addition, when spec'ing out an XLT, I found the only way to get the premium package (and get away from that butt-ugly front grill) was to also equip the Sport package. Perhaps I am in the minority but I hate the blacked out look which seems popular now.
    I do have my concerns about a direct injected engine but the lifter issues I had read about on the 7.3 pushed me this way as well.
    Ultimately appearance and better price for similarly equipped trucks pushed me toward GMC.
    My first GM product in 30 years. They pissed ME off back then and I can hold a grudge as well.

    Direct injection. No thanks. Especially in a heavy duty. I can’t believe they still use this engine in a heavy duty. Good looking truck though. And for me as a tall and heavier guy, ford is the most comfortable. All of my fords since my first in ‘89 have never let me down. My dad was a Chevy guy until his last 2 Silverado turds 💩

    Coming from a 2018 Ram Rebel I chose my Chevy ZR2 HD because it just felt out looks awesome. I looked at Ford super duty trucks but my gawd the interiors are a sea of cheap looking plastics irregardless of whatever high end trims they were. The front end of the ford super dutys just are flat out unappealing. Ford has ugly wheels as well. Right out the box my Silverado 2500HD ZR2 is appealing and packaged with all the right things including 35” tires from the factory. My first GM vehicle and after only a month of ownership I absolutely love the truck!

    I factory ordered a 2024 GMC Regular Cab 2500hd SLE 4x4, main reason for me was its 142 inch wheelbase, 8.2 inch bed with tailgate step. I have slid in camper and want to mount it in bed with tailgate acting as step, and able to close with camper on truck. I do off road trips and city driving and the short wheelbase can turn and park much easier then crew cabs. Been 2 months since my order placed, hopefully will be built soon?

    I left Ford. Dumped my 2019 F250 diesel. I ended on a 2024 Chevy HD2500 Duramax LTZ optioned at the high country model. Less expensive than ford. Why I left Ford; High recalls, and death wobble when trailering was the big issues for me. Towing the same trailer with the Chevy towed MUCH BETTER and smoother. I had so many other issues with the ford, but also started my new Chevy ownership with nightmares in engine lights, limp mode, and transfer case leaks at 200 miles new. With all that said, it has been fixed and so far it has been great. Suspension was way better for my application. The options in the Chevy were much better as mentioned here. Ford has lost their way. I think they (Ford) are more focused on fleet sales with fleet service departments to handle all the issues.

    The reason I bought my ‘24 Silverado 2500 was that I was able to get all the features I wanted in a brand new truck including the new interior, leather, and sunroof for what I would have had to pay for a used Ford with comparable features.

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  4 месяца назад

      I can't say from personal experience, but I suspect the Ford with 7.3L would tow better in terms of feeling more powerful. Hard to say shiftingwise which is better. And I've heard economy-wise the 7.3L isn't so friendly, so probably 6.4L would beat it on fuel economy, especially unladen.

    I currently have a 2015 Ram 1500 approaching 10 years old and 100K miles. I intended on keeping my trucks 15 years and 150K miles but the upcoming service of spark plugs and coolant replacement is very expensive and the trade value will take a big hit once it’s over 100K miles so I have started looking around. It’s been the best truck I have ever owned, so I am/was strongly considering another Ram but HD instead. Don’t want/need a diesel but do need an HD. Been looking around and discovered the following: Ford quality is awful. New trucks on the lot with major problems (like LED headlights on the left and halogen on the right) and minor problems (loose trim and panels). The newer Ram HD trucks are dated, but Stellantis thinks they are gold and have them priced way too high. Also, while the 6.4L gas has been durable and reliable, the cylinder deactivation isn’t something that contributes to longevity and I don’t really want it on an HD truck. Additionally in the spirit of keeping the truck 15yrs/150K miles DIY with less expensive maintenance is important and the 16 spark plug maintenance is very expensive and difficult even for a DIYr. Further, the ZF 8 speed transmission is definitely a proven and durable transmission but the inability/difficulty to change fluid due to the “lifetime” fluid claim is a concern. So that leaves the GM HD trucks. The 6.6L gas doesn’t have cylinder deactivation or stop/start technology and seems to be easier to maintain with no potential longevity issues with maybe the exception of the GDI potentially leaving intake valve deposits over the long hauls. Other than that, my research generally leads to the GM product being durable and made to last with simplicity in the drivetrain. Comments and Contradictions are welcome as long as they are not emotional and presented with logic. TIA
