GM looks the best, and the Auto 4wd is the clincher, even though Ford has the edge everywhere else. But with that being said, I would still buy the F450 over a GM for my next horse trailer over the GM, all because of the turning radius, and even though I like GM features better.

I agree with his final assessment. I have owned both brands in past. GMC are nice trucks but the new model super duty is definitely more truck. Never had any major mechanical issues with either brand, but I drive a lot of miles and in last 20 years have had less problems of any kind with my Fords. And looks are definitely a personal choice but the new Fords are extremely good looking trucks to me. Inside and outside.

What's wild is with the seats. The GMT800 generation had probably the best seats you could get, basically living room recliners. The Fords of the same era were awful, sometimes referred to as park benches. *IF* I were to replace my 06 2500HD with a new truck, the Ford seats today would steer me away from the GM trucks.

Complaining about the seats to me is comical. First of all it’s a truck not a Rolls Royce! If your over the age of 50 I am sure you remember how uncomfortable the trucks from the 70’s 80’s were. My first truck that my dad passed down to me was 1976 regular cab Chevy pickup. It had heat only no ac, am radio only and no power anything with a hard ass vinyl bench seat that burned your ass in the summer and was hard and cold as cement in the winter. Currently I have a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie crew cab truck. My God I never dreamed that trucks would be this nice and comfortable. The creature comforts are a God send anyone that works a Physical job and especially one where your outside most of the time having a nice vehicle makes the you feel like the money you paid was worth it especially if your over 50!

The GM trucks definitely have lots of tie-downs. But i still think Nissan has the best and most versatile tie-down game in the market with those bed rails. Nissan must have that patented to hell and back because no one else offers it. You can tie things down wherever and however you want. Or, on the flip side, if you don't want your items sliding everywhere, you can just snug the cleats right up against the item and it's going nowhere, even without tying anything down!

You and your dad are quickly becoming my favorite truck review channel.. Your right up there with TFL and other professional channels.
In was one of those who mentioned the Chevy isn't a very good comparison in terms of dollar for dollar against a Ford in the trims King Ranch, Platinum and Limited. Ford simply offers a lot of additional features in these trim levels. A better comparison in the “dollar for dollar” is the Ram Limited, limited longhorn and GMC Denali Ultimate.
Even so, Ford still offers more “luxury” items at these levels… but they are very close comparisons.
I think the GMC exterior (except wheel well shape) is a much better looking truck. The interiors are both amazing. What drives me nuts in the GM luxury vehicles is the lack of ambient lighting. These black interiors need ambient lighting on the floors, the doors, glove box, center console etc. The best system ever offered was when Ford offered the Ambient lighting in the F-150 from 11-14 model years. The ambient could be controlled for color and brightness. Also the cup holders had ambient light rings which were amazing.
I'm going to buy a new truck next year. Keep upnyhe reviews. I appreciate all the hard work and Knowledge you provide to consumers and enthusiasts.
Yes agree. My wife Tahoe has the a u to setting and it's really beneficial. Why… she never remembers to turn off 4x4 when she manually turns it on. In just have her place it in auto.

Initially the GMC feel opposite, very firm but over long drives and after a certain amount of time they break in gradually and are much more supportive. Exp: What lights are on for Daytime, Fogs on with HighBeams, behavior of locks, changing control behavior, adding features to Instrument panel, adjust tire size and speedometer, change the TPMS Tire pressure values, etc, etc. The Tire Size is a good one, most newer Trucks can't recalibrate their Speedo and many Dealerships won't reprogram it either. That Speedo change requires several tweaks in the programming.

Great video, as always! One big drawback I have found with the GMC tailgate step is if you have the bed loaded, with lets say a pallet of whatever, you can't raise the step handle to climb into the bed to offload. Thats is one nice thing about the Ford step is the handle is not impeded by cargo in the bed.

The only things I’ll knock the gmc for are the seats, no power adjustable foot pedals and no power adjustable steering column/wheel.
I would knock it for not having a panoramic sunroof but I won’t since I don’t like fords or rams.
Gm if you’re reading this, put in a panoramic sunroof or bigger sunroof that can be opened up all the way or just enough for the driver and passengers to stick up through. I know it sounds silly but that’s what the old school sunroofs were used for. But have the choice for no sunroof as well for the people who know they eventually start leaking.

Honestly, I would prefer a Ram 3500 Limited 4X4 Long bed SRW or DRW with a Cummins, but Ram needs to get an 8-speed transmission or greater. I doubt that will happen because Ram has too much drama going on right now. I love the GMC’s Multi Pro Tailgate because I am shorter than 6ft(1.8M). Since Ford copied the sidestep and the bumper step from GM I wish they would be able to copy the Multi Pro Tailgate. I agree with your Dad that the GMC Denali is a more elegant truck, but I would buy the Ford because it has the features that I want like the secondary tailgate camera, the bed scales, the 2kw bed outlet and the 4 cup holders. I am not sure if the High Output Power Stroke is worth an extra $2,500(USD)/$3,381.87(CAD). The only problem is that I cannot decided between a F350 Platinum 4X4 SRW long bed or a F450 Platinum 4X4 DRW.

Obviously I am a long time Ford guy however when it comes to the interior, GMC has that in spades with the natural warm earth tones which I wish Ford would incorporate in their interiors. Even on my F-150 Supercrew, it's dark gray against light gray and it's bland and boring. I'd personally love to see wood grain added to the dash panel and door panels to break up the monotony and make it more inviting. One of my favorite Ford interiors is the King Ranch saddle leather. When you climb into that truck with extremely muddy boots on and leather gloves, it's no big deal because that is what that interior styling is geared towards. Mud on the seats, no big deal just brush it off after is dries out.

Liked what I saw online with the interior… looked amazing, think it even had tilt-recline back seats, comfier seats per reviews, I even liked the front grill. And it was a more powerful truck. But I ended up driving right past that lot to the GMC dealer. I had to yield to my inner child desire to have the better looking vehicle. GMC’s aggressive look is very commanding. And am I the only one that can’t stand all the metal on the tailgates of the higher end luxury Fords? Looks terrible. And I couldn’t imagine not having the multi-pro tailgate now that I’ve had one. The interior layout of the cup holders, storage & button layout is terrible a joke. I can't believe no one is talking about the fact that you can't see dedicated DEF guage, turbo boost and EB (exhaust brake is joke) or fact that you have to do weird shift into manual then can't see what gear! Tailgate is cool, styling is great & ride/build quality is good. Seats are not comfortable but that's subjective.
RAM 3500 HO: Aisin shifts/lag is horrible! Cab/exterior is stale. Interior was best but other 2 caught up on style. Need configuration of 8' bed w/megacab & cargobox. Storage/layout is good. Build quality is OK. Ride is stiff. Best EB brake. Horrible phone charger pad.
24 F350 Limited Standouts that made me love this truck: Interior layout/storage and cupholders is awesome. 8' bed=48 gal fuel tank. EB is much improved. Shifting is smooth and tells you gear. Dedicated DEF/gear selection, turbo, EB & more info shown. Seats are awesome. Phone charger is large/good location to see. Style is 2nd to GMC but very good.
