Got to test drive on finally and loved it. I did not find the power to be overwhelming but quite smooth and manageable and the ride great. Even parked it in GT mode just for a test - no problem. Not a fan of the graphics particularly but can live with them. Sound system was worlds better than the Ionic 5 and somewhat better than my Santa Cruz so another plus. Would just have to work on the seats a bit as for me they felt a little too aggressive and confining for every day driving. I plan to buy one soon. Thanks for the honest review.
Looks like a really fun car! If I was to buy and electric, I would buy the Subaru. Simply because I would rather have the trail/mild off-road capability than the bone structure altering 0-60 time. Great review as always guys. Super detailed and awesome camerawork b
If you want to go faster than 3.4s 0-60 just get a liter bike. That is incredibly fast for a hatchback. I’ve occasionally thought of trading in my Supra and a hatch I have for one but then I look at my Supra and say no.
bikes isn't just about fast acceleration, we enjoy an open scenery too! 😊 But with pretty much any sport/super sport bike you will corner better than this boat.
I own one, and after I found the best seat position i haven’t touched it. My wife doesn’t drive the car, so no need to ever mess with it again. I love the seats and couldn’t care less if they’re manual.
Well I have one here in the UK with just over 2000 miles done, and if you drive it in ECO matching traffic, you still get around 270 miles... In EUROPE our regulator (WLTP) gives range as 263 miles.. Go figure, as they say... perhaps the EPA test on the dyno stipulates that each car is driven at a range of set percentages of max power, including full acceleration, and ignores the achieved speed, whereas maybe WLTP wants each car to do exactly the same range of speeds? Can anyone shed some light on this? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worldwide_Harmonised_Light_Vehicles_Test_Procedure
So my question continues to be in what mode is that 206 mile range rated at ? If a person only used GT mode occasionally for example how far would Sport mode take you ?
206 is the EPA rating. Kia themselves quote 263 in their ads (I have one right at the top of this screen) which is the WLTP rating. So clearly it’s very much about how you drive it and which mode - ECO with only one motor running (ie not max regen) will obviously be best.
@@NikSargent So does the 263 compare directly to the 300 plus miles quoted for the GT Line ? If so that does make it more attractive. Iv'e just not seen anyone else quote 263 for the GT.
@@jimji2774 honestly, I can't say how it was calculated and how it compares to others. Wish I could post a screenshot, but it's literally how Kia in the UK are advertising it. Here's the text of their ad: "The fully electric kia EV6 GT - Up to 263 miles driving range - powerful and sporty. Powerful electric performance with up to 263 miles driving range. Book a test drive now. Built to thrill, the Kia EV6 GT gives an undeniable boldness on the road. Discover more..." This may be an absolute max - e.g. if you drive in town in eco mode all day long. I saw one review (TV show "5th gear recharged") quote up to 250 on a drive in the Nordics, but didn't really show it. And another review which drove about 20 cars in finland till they were dead got about 238 (that is definitely confirmed). But none of these really go into the detail of what they did. Problem with 99% reviews, when they get the car, it's for limited time and the first thing they want to test is the performance, not the max range when driven in the kindest way possible. I really hope more than 206 is achievable somehow if you need it, because my interest in the car was based on the 265 claim :-/ I don't mind if GT mode is only for local weekends...
others have said they're getting around 220 mi range in everyday use so that's good info. as others have also said someone needs to put this thing in eco mode on a road trip and see how far they get. that's not important for an everyday driver but I sure would feel better about dropping my 62k + if I knew thanks
Having in mind just how many accidents happen around the world by the people who drive regular ICE cars, i believe most (around 95%) people shouldn't drive EV's with this kind of performance. People are now reckless and with more EV's on the road there will be more accidents and fatalities. Everytime i drive, there is always a thought in the back of my head - "will somebody crash into me today". Which is bothersome and sad that a lot of people die because of reckless drivers.
Does it ever cross your mind that slow drivers can (and do) cause accidents too? Or maybe you're also one of those bad drivers that you're so worried about?
True, maybe or maybe not. Its not what the dealers are trying to sell it for, its more how much some of you chodbois buyers are willing to pay for it. If your kind is willing to keep paying inflated prices, then we will keep increasing the price. Sold a Civic type R for $100k the other week. For a HONDA CIVIC. Tempted to up it to 110K and see what jabroni will come along. Some ricer with too much money. Some TikTok Boi. Not our problem. Consumers are the ones raising the price, not the dealers.
Yea... not on board with this idea that performance = bad efficiency. Look at the Taycan, Performance Teslas, Lucid, etc. I own both an Ioniq 5 and a Model Y Performance. While eGMP is a great platform mainly for V2L/800V architecture, it still falls short when it comes to pushing performance without sacrificing efficiency. All of the performance eGMP variants have been disappointing. Additionally, I've tracked my MYP and range (or rather battery consumption) is a huge deal on the track for performance EVs. Most tracks do not yet have chargers on site. Being able to do 2-3 20 minute runs without having to leave site to charge is a big deal. Additionally, losing performance at different SoC is also a big deal, which EV6 GT also falls short on. Superchargers are also more ubiquitous. There are tracks here in the Midwest where I can't actually bring a non-Tesla practically speaking. It seems when designing this car, they had one goal in mind - beat the cheaper Tesla performance cars in a straight line to make good RUclips content. They then sacrificed everything else.
MYP is slower than even GV60. Doesn't even need Ev6 GT. Tesla M3 MY are all cheap now less than 60k. With that being said, Kia perhaps aimed at defeating the cheap Tesla cars. Probably can't defeat M3P in 0-60, but some EV6 GT racer did 2.9s for 0-60.
I haven't sold one of these for less than 90k. Most have been 100k. Sold a Civic Type R for 100k last week. If your kind is stupid enough to keep paying these prices, then we'll keep increasing the prices. Bronco isn't worth 100k, people keep buying it. EV Hummer isn't worth 200k, people keep buying 400z isn't worth 130k, people keep buying it ZR1 might be worth 200k people keep buying it. Rav4 Prime isnt worth 70k, people keep buying it. Consumers are the ones raising the price, not the dealers.
I wish they'd make the Stinger as electric and not change anything about that gorgeous body.

SUPER KIA EV6 GT
Well done review! great car.
65K and it doesn't have power seats?!? What??

Kinda funny Kia bothered with a sunroof for whatever reason that adds weight 😅
@TrueDesireHD I heard that too. Still ridiculous. Especially when it's like adding a couple grains of sand to an overweight beach anyways.
