The seats are a recurrent theme in the GT reviews. I was told on a Kia GT event last year that the reason why they are manually adjustable is that it allows for a lower seating position and it gives more of a 'car' feeling. The seating position is indeed a bit lower than in lesser variants. Personally I don't think it's a big deal. Great car, great review !
Really excellent reviews! I especially appreciate the sine wave test at 130KM/h, as that shows the difference between cars tuned well vs not. Can I request you to make a dedicated video comparing all the cars you've tested on the sine wave portion while commenting on the individual characteristics? It will be super interesting to see the ride & handling of all cars from a given segment that you've tested, or even across segments, like SUV vs sedan vs hatchbacks, the effects of adaptive dampers / air suspension on the sine wave etc.
Absolutely awesome review thank you! I have the Runway Red EV6 GT and it is an amazing car. Have had a great many performance cars over the years and would now never go back to ICE. The performance and suspension combination of the GT is superb. Initially I thought the non electric adjustment could be an issue, but you get used to the manual adjustment, and guess what it saves weight which equals more performance. KIA have built something special with this vehicle and I am very proud to own one, keep up the great reviews, look forward to seeing one on the Ioniq 5N. 😎
Yeah I loved my recent test drive too. Power is great but smooth and usable even in traffic imo. Also ride was impressive. Just blows away Tesla's in ride quality and interior. Range is bad so not for road trips but for enjoyment I don't think it can be beat right now at least in the EV segment. Colors a limited though and that Silver is only available in the Matt finish so make sure you know what you are getting into with that. The Yacht blue with matt wrapp ppf is absolutely stunning. Really great demonstration during the autocross at the end. It really shows an electric motor's instantaneous torque delivery to be able to spin up the inside front in mid-corner. With an internal combustion engine's fuel rail, throttle body, and piston inertia all contributing to that relatively smooth build in torque when you step on the loud pedal, requesting torque from a petrol engine is basically stretching and flicking a rubber band in comparison. You can stretch and build all the way to redline, but let off and the 'flick' is equally slow to drop off. An electric motor is a light switch in comparison. Completely different approach to driving. I'd imagine an ICE vs EV drift battle would really show up the differences!
Great review as always, I do want to say however I am not a fan of your new watermark in the lower left of the screen. The previous one was much less obnoxious/obvious.
The EV-6 GT AWD is a nice vehicle but it is heavy. 2520KG so this explains why the efficiency is lower compared to Tesla Model 3 performance at 2305 kg gross.
Manual sliding seats are probably for motor racing/Track Days. Could you imagine being a 5’9” driver and having a 6’3” co-driver, waiting for the electric seat to get into position, while in the pits doing a driver change haha. Anyway, just my thoughts lol. But I know that I would be pretty upset losing time as we all know how damn slow electric seats can be.
For a serious performance vehicle, why aren't the rotors offered better? I would have thought at least drilled and slotted would be specified or ceramic given the price. Thoughts?
I was just saying in another review how much I loved your standardised videos.. then I see this and you have removed the interior practicality bits.. is this how it will be from now on?
