Thanks so much, Jennifer. Always love your videos. I finally just tried this a few minutes ago using my 3-year-old Scotch TL901 laminator (about $25), my 10-year-old OKI C3400 laser printer, plain HP Multipurpose printer paper, and the teal Deco foil I bought at Michael's on clearance a couple months ago, and it worked beautifully after just one pass! WOW! Thanks again!
Jennifer, Just a big thanks! I've been racking my brain to figure out how to make a prototype for a project that will have a foil embossed linen cover on it. I started googling and bingo, found your videos. You just saved me SO MUCH time and money! I had no idea you could do these things. Right now you're my favorite person in the world!
I have said it before and I will say it again. I love, love, love your video tutorials. You are my favorite crafter. Everyone I meet who is interested in cardmaking, I recommend they watch/follow your videos. 😍💕👌🌹🌹
Thanks Jennifer for all your great ideas and tips. You inspired me this Christmas to ask for a laser printer. I used Photoshop Elements to create a black and white copy from a photo of my granddaughters face. I then printed it with my laser printer and gold foiled it with my laminator. I made her birthday card with that picture. Now I will have to do all the grandkids cards like that. Thanks for helping me to get to that point.
Love this technique. After Christmas, Michaels had deco foil on sale for about 50 cents a tube. I bought some but when I realized that u can use it on fabric too I went back and bought all of them! Only down side was that they only had red and green. Today I had to make t shirts for my daughters class used the green to do shamrocks and it turned out awesome.
Jennifer I loved this episode on foiling. I just love it. And I've upgraded my pic file and I have a toner laser printer..HP a small one. I do have a very cheap foiling machine and it takes forever to heat up about 13 minutes but once it's heated it's hot. When you use foiling less is more. It is so elegant and brilliant that you don't need a lot to make it stand out. Love these videos and loved Lila's cards...thanks Jennifer.
awesome video as all of yours are.. just a suggestion if anyone has a t shirt heat press you can use that also set for 275F for 10 secs. awesome results.
thank you! I have a large easy press and a A3 heat press, would you recommend, either moving the easy press over the toner simulating the laminator movement or just to use the heat press as pressure would be consistent?
I had no idea this could be done. Thanks so much for posting this. I don't have a laser printer but I do have a laminator so I may try copying these somewhere with a laser printer and giving it a try. Such gorgeous results.
where was i 2 years ago when this was the in thing? i'm always behind the time but i ordered a bunch of foil from a company at 10 $ a roll for 25 feet of it i thought was an awesome deal! I can't wait to play with this. I got some gorgeous colors. thanks for sharing the technique even tho it's an older video it still helps!
I am so appreciative of all your videos. You are very detailed and so easy to understand. Plus your samples are really beautiful ones. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I honestly believed I needed to purchase the Minc machine, so thank you so much for showing me that I can use my laminator for the exact same thing! :D
Omg! This means the Heidi swap minc foil machine is a glorified expensive laminator!? That is crazy, I should've realized! So good to know u can do this with ANY laminator...
Wow didn't know I could use my laminator for a craft awesome. Could someone tell me how to add a public comment without having to reply to a post already present. Love your videos just found you.
Finally got some foil today and then didn't have the carrier folder for the laminator. I used baking paper and it was fine. Had to share. Thanks for all of your great videos.
thank you so much Jennifer for this and the previous video on foiling - I have just received my order of the deco foil and an itching to start...thank you so much
Oh my goodness. I literally just bought a laminator (it's still in the box in the office). It's an Amazon basics laminator (does both 3 and 5 mil like yours) and I have a Brother printer. I wanted the Heidi Swapp Minc but as it really only does the one thing wouldn't buy it. I'm soooo excited to try this technique out and see if it works with my machines. I'm just bummed it'll have to wait, I'll be the only person at WDW who can't wait to go back home!
Hello Jennifer. I stumbled on to your video while researching for a project of my own involving foil. I make cards (what's called "Proxies" for play use for a very popular card game called Yu-Gi-Oh! And I have to say that trying to figure out how they make there cards have been quite difficult, as there is no way, even online, on how they make their cards. Your video was very helpful. If possible, I would like to pick your brain in the future on more projects such as this. Thank You.
I remember when this video first came out, and it made me want a laser printer so bad! But I had no excuse to purchase one outside of crafting, and at the time, they were SO expensive (and they still ain’t cheap)! Welp, I finally bought a laser printer for my home office and I bet you can guess the first thing I’m gonna do with it…
I went to the Calico site but couldn't find the free words you recommended. They're for sale at $3.99. thanks for your demo, your very interesting and to the point.x
Really really cool. I was thinking about investing in a laminator and this video sealed my decision to get one. I did not know that you could do so much ! GREAT!!! Avalon
Just a note everyone!!: I just bought a nice little 8.5" x 11" laminator (that came with 30 laminating pouches) at my local Aldi grocery store for $15 about a week ago and it works great!!!! I would have never thought they had stuff like that but they had all kinds of crafting supplies!!! You all might want to look there if you're in the market for one!!!
I saw this technique on another video which I immediately thought was a great idea so tried it out but it didn't work because what the video didn't say was that you need a laser printer or toner card or some transfer gel or another technique is using double sided tape so now there's no stopping me now xx
Hi! Thank you so much for sharing this technique! I can't wait to try it! I really love the images you used.... however, I tried to link (and download) the Valentine's Day Printable... but they no longer have it available. Is there any way that you could email me the file? I want to use it to make some cards for my family... please let me know. Thanks!
While I know this video is several years old, was wondering if you have ever printed on frosted vellum and then foiled? Great video btw, you are a excellent teacher.
not sure but I think for the negative piece of the foil I'd be inclined to cut a panel if adhesive and stick down the foil and then fill in the gaps with either glitter or another foil colour. good idea or not?
I had mixed results with this technique. The best results were when using a small personal laserjet printer (similar to Jennifer's) and the "self-serve" printer at Office Max. I got very splotchy results (not complete foil transfer) when printing at the highest quality printers behind the counter at Office Max--and this was the case after printing at two different Office Max stores. All of this was done on the same laminator, with the same settings. So, bottom line...either print at home or go to the self-serve printers. Also, if any of you have had problems with paper jams on the laminator from Amazon that Jennifer uses: I had an item get jammed inside the laminator. I tried "pushing" it out by putting more paper through. That just jammed it up even more. I ended up taking the laminator apart (there are ~6 screws on the bottom) and was able to remove all of the jammed paper this way. I put it back together and it seems to be working fine since then.
Michelle K thank you for this, I went to kinkos and they printed for me behind their counter and my foil came out blotchy :( I’m going to try the self service printers instead. :)
Hi Jenni! You make the best video’s! How thick is the paper your laserjet printer takes? And what printer do you use? I would appreciate tips so much. I am afraid the 120 gsm most printers take will be too thin. Thanks beforehand!
Very beautiful, what kind of foil can be used in a laminator? Can the foil quill heat activated foil be used the same way in a laminator instead of using a foil quill pen
quick question, I was watching another youtubber do a similar project, but they stated that the foil needed to be a gold reactive foil, or whatever the color being used, but the foil needed to be reactive foil. What is your advice, thanks in advance.
Hello. First of all thanks for sharing this technique for goil foil. This is really helpful. However, I do wan't to know if this result can still be achieve while using a inkjet printer. Did you try it out already? Thanks in advance.
Hi Jennifer, thanks for this wonderful video! Have you experimented with different types of paper? (watercolor paper, cotton paper, ect.) If so, what do you find works the best? Thank you!
I love the fact you have the links to the supplies you use in your videos.
Wow! When you started describing this technique, I was overwhelmed. When I saw you demonstrate it, I KNEW I could do it! Thank you!
Jennifer, Just a big thanks! I've been racking my brain to figure out how to make a prototype for a project that will have a foil embossed linen cover on it. I started googling and bingo, found your videos. You just saved me SO MUCH time and money! I had no idea you could do these things.

Dear Jennifer! I'm from Argentina, I learn a lot with your videos! I can't thank you enough! xoxox

I am so inspired, simply Ammazzing!! I feel that everyone will get sick of me once I get my hands on this project, foil everywhere LOL.
Love this technique. After Christmas, Michaels had deco foil on sale for about 50 cents a tube. I bought some but when I realized that u can use it on fabric too I went back and bought all of them! Jennifer, thanks so, so much for showing how to use Word for printing out images in toner ink to use for foiling. SO HELPFUL TO ME! TFS

Hi Jennifer, I love love your videos, i always learn so much. This technique is super great, especially when you have kids. Keep up the great work!
awesome video as all of yours are.. just a suggestion if anyone has a t shirt heat press you can use that also set for 275F for 10 secs. awesome results.
mrsdizi1234 Thanks this is the info I've been looking for.

I am so appreciative of all your videos. You are very detailed and so easy to understand. Plus your samples are really beautiful ones. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I love the way you explain all the stages and love your cards they are beautiful
What a quick and easy technique. As you said it is great for quick cards too.
I honestly believed I needed to purchase the Minc machine, so thank you so much for showing me that I can use my laminator for the exact same thing! :D
I love this technique. It's so simple but looks amazing. They look like shop bought cards.
I have tried to find instructions to do foiling forever. Great video learned so much. Thank you
That was so much fun! To watch your video and then go make cards using your method. Thanks so much for sharing!!!
So fun to do.I have to admit I've been saving to get a printer.Very addicting and so pretty.
The card are GORGEOUS!
OMG that is so beautiful! U are such an enabler Miss Jennifer!! Lol
so I learned something new today that I will try before I use it for a clients wedding I have coming up. thanks for the information.
Omg! This means the Heidi swap minc foil machine is a glorified expensive laminator!? That is crazy, I should've realized! So good to know u can do this with ANY laminator...
Gavi S no it is super high quality and does big sheets. great product.
Awesome. They turned out so pretty. I don't have a laminator but I do have a heat press. Going to try that.
omg I'm in love with the foil technique
Jen... what a great idea! I'm thinking of so many projects now.... Thank you!
Got some excellent organizational ideas. Thanks for sharing
This is the most awesome tutorial you've ever done!!! Wonderful and I can see how addicting it can be! Thank you sooo much!
This is absolutely FABULOUS! I always wanted to be able to foil. I LOVE THESE TECHNIQUES.
thank you so much Jennifer for this and the previous video on foiling - I have just received my order of the deco foil and an itching to start...thank you so much
The foil is gorgeous! Thanks for the how to. Going to try this soon
You could also use the laminator to put that negative space foil on another solid toner sheet. It gives this awesome black and gold look.
Oh my goodness. I literally just bought a laminator (it's still in the box in the office). It's an Amazon basics laminator (does both 3 and 5 mil like yours) and I have a Brother printer. Really really cool. I was thinking about investing in a laminator and this video sealed my decision to get one. I did not know that you could do so much ! GREAT!!! Avalon
I hit the WRONG BUTTON! I LOVED THIS VIDEO. Ignore one "dislike!!!!!"
My cheap laminator jammed on the third use. Sending it back for replacement. Fingers crossed. 😜
Your explanations are well done. thank you
Hi! what Amazing idea! question: does the foil stay on the paper or after a few days its fall?
Neat technique. Thanks for sharing!
Just a note everyone!!: I just bought a nice little 8.5" x 11" laminator (that came with 30 laminating pouches) at my local Aldi grocery store for $15 about a week ago and it works great!!!! Thank you so much for sharing this! I love it when my everyday tools can be used for crafting. :)
Hi! Thank you so much for sharing this technique! I can't wait to try it! I really love the images you used.... however, I tried to link (and download) the Valentine's Day Printable... but they no longer have it available. Is there any way that you could email me the file? Love this and looking to help daughter with wedding invitations. Can you run the foil print back through a printer to add none foil areas?
so talented!!
i love ur vids! u make beautiful cards!
Hi Jennifer, I would love to know if this would work on BLACK or any other color cardstock?
+Elizabeth Romero yes it does! she shows in another video :) (just make sure to use black toner with your printer)
I love this. I'm surprised I've never heard of this before 😅
Absolutely fabulous! Now I have to buy a laser printer :)
extremely cool, tfs with your insights! you mentioned using the laminator for other stuff, what else craft wise can you do with it?
I had mixed results with this technique. The best results were when using a small personal laserjet printer (similar to Jennifer's) and the "self-serve" printer at Office Max. What printer are you using exactly? If you don't mind :)!
+Miss Sugarrush Brother HL-L2340D; I don't recall the exact price, but it was under $100 at Amazon
Great, thanks! :)
Michelle K thank you for this, I went to kinkos and they printed for me behind their counter and my foil came out blotchy :( I’m going to try the self service printers instead. :)
sei davvero brava...seguo i tuoi video con immenso piacere. un bacioooo
It looks amazing could you please mention the idle to temperture to foil?
great tutorial.
Bummer, i have a ink printer not laser :( Hoped that I could do this.
Jennifer love your videos :D I get a lot of inspiration of you :D
Delectable! Would be neat to mount it on a larger board and then frame it too. Kind of shadow box-isa.
Gimp is a free software that is very similar to photoshop, so if someone wants to play around a bit I recommend gimp. :)
This is a great video, thank you! For more intricate designs could you print and foil an element then print in black around or on top of the foil?
Hi Jenni! You make the best video’s! How thick is the paper your laserjet printer takes? And what printer do you use? I would appreciate tips so much. I am afraid the 120 gsm most printers take will be too thin. Thanks beforehand!
I need to do this!!
really liked this can you use any sort of foil or does it have to craft foil
Hi Jennifer, when i run mine through the lamination only some of the foil is sticking to the image.
Very beautiful, what kind of foil can be used in a laminator? Can the foil quill heat activated foil be used the same way in a laminator instead of using a foil quill pen
Hi! Your videos are fantastic! I was wondering if you have any advice for spot foil wedding invitations?
Wish i still had my brother fax machine. it made copies using toner. bet it would work
what do you like the most, heidi swapp foil or deco foil¡? great job
quick question, I was watching another youtubber do a similar project, but they stated that the foil needed to be a gold reactive foil, or whatever the color being used, but the foil needed to be reactive foil. What is your advice, thanks in advance.
+Pastor Michele Riley interesting question! i want to know aswell! :P
Hello. First of all thanks for sharing this technique for goil foil. This is really helpful. However, I do wan't to know if this result can still be achieve while using a inkjet printer. Did you try it out already? Thanks in advance.
mind blown.. need to buy a laser printer and laminator now
Hi Jennifer, thanks for this wonderful video! Have you experimented with different types of paper? (watercolor paper, cotton paper, ect.) If so, what do you find works the best? Thank you!
