  • Landscape Photography | The Blue Hour, it's the best time isn't it?
This week I visited one of my favorite places for landscape photography, Honister in the Lake District. Photographing Lake Buttermere is a must for any local/ish photographer!
It's the second time I've photographed there during the "Blue Hour".
I don't know why I seem to gravitate to Buttermere for the after dark pictures. Maybe it's because of it's geographic settings. It's surrounded by mountains, and because of this, it's not really a place suited to photograph during a sunrise or sunset. Having said that though, I had the most amazing sunset.
I make at least one video a week, and I've some amazing locations penned. Please make it worth my while and support the channel.

How about a 15 foot tree washed up on beach lol. Took two of us to stand it up and get balanced, and yes we did put it back when finished. Love the 2nd to last image most, one sweet shot.

subscribed! Landscape photography requires patience waiting for that perfect timing; only way you could get the best images! I used to just shoot whats in there for me; I should also try putting other props like what you did on the tree branch! Cool video.

Hi Gary. Whilst I love B&W, I prefer the colour image of Lake Buttermere where you introduced that rather large lump of driftwood. Whilst you were up there, did you bother with the classic 'Buttermere Tree', or is it not on your bucket list? Keep up the great work. Cheers Paul

Hi Paul. Cheers again. I've not actually shot the Buttermere tree yet. It's on the list. Have you?

I was up there at the beginning of November last year and managed to catch a shot of it, but only handheld. So, I need to get back up there.(www.flickr.com/photos/woody1864/34141792300/in/dateposted-public/)

Great pictures mate and beautiful scenery but for me down south it’s a bit of a drive so I would opt for the reminder for 4pm, lol. Regarding your composition with the log and the two minute exposure, did you just use the 0.9 grad or anything else? Great vlog mate keep them coming

Hi Chris, Just a .9 soft grad, and my 10-stopper. There are only 2 slots on the Lee filter system

I am very late to this video but there is no audio at all a great deal of time including when you are talking. Is it possible the background music got a copyright strike and the audio was muted in those sections? It’s a shame because I am quite interested in hearing your thoughts.

I love the blue hour too! I personally prefer the period when the sun has set and there is a real strong glow in the sky which will make the landscape appear like silhouettes. Nothing better to have some body of water in front of you and some solid rock scape or something like that. that makes a crazy imagery (which is even during blue hour). Just like the photo at 8:54
