"You know what I mean... If I'm away for more than 15 minutes, she'll start moaning". I can sympathise, Gary. For me, it's "Haven't you taken that picture yet?" I feel your pain
Which is why you should only go out for photography with other photographers or alone. I know that the intent is to kindly share your time with her, but as you see, you’re not… she’s in the car, you’re there at the beach ;)
This is a mathematical sum deduced to the end result. Take away for me, don't be afraid of experimentation and its culmination in exposing the limitations of artistic freedom. Enjoyed it.
As a weekend warrior landscape photographer summer sunrise is silly o'clock & weekends 9 times out of 10 sunrise & sunset is rubbish. I have one day to get out & about so I do shoot during the day. I stay home when it is blue cloudless skies. I do pick my location carefully according to various weather forecasts. Dartmoor during the day with a great sky oooh. When it comes to a long exposure King. Great images.
The big skies in Northumberland alone make the county well worth a visit. Love all the images and thanks for taking the time to explain in detail what you are doing.
I was deeply engrossed in this video Gary. I am at present trying open up my LE photography again. It's going to take a few trips but you have just inspired me even more....Thank you Gary, stay safe, hope you didn't get to much of a 'ear ache' when you got got back to the van........
Living in the Arizona desert, monsoon season is a great time for clouds, and really any time of day. Plus, monsoon cools everything down so you don't get third degree burns going for the mail.
Amazing video on Long exposure photography in the middle of the day Gary, incredible to see that rainbow like that. Really appreciate the info you provide us to hopefully improve our own work. Thank you.
So glad I ran across your video. Just got a new set of filters and how nice to see your experimentation here today. Thank you! Learned quite a bit about the clouds, mid day sun exposure, and could just feel and appreciate your excitement. The rainbow was quite an added bonus! Sorry it didn't stick around when you got to the other side of the lighthouse!
Thank you so much. You have inspired me to go out and play and to have fun with my photography. I have been in a lull with my photography and your videos have encouraged me to get back out and learn about long exposures. Thank you again.
Thanks for the video! Not only is it interesting to see the use of filters to take long daytime exposures, but your excitement and enthusiasm really hold ones attention. Wonderful shots
I’ve been thoroughly enjoying IR photography during the midday hours when the sun is shining full blast. Enjoyed your photos here, thanks for the tips.
Love your music in this video Gary😊.. As for clouds we haven't had any in my region for months now.. We in winter here in Namibia and I'm at the coast in Walvis Bay.. And we just don't get much rain in winter.. Down south in Cape Town definitely you get loads of winter rain and storms.. But here we only get rain in summer.. So it's quite unique I guess.. But even here at the coast we get less rain then the inland.. So I can actually count about 10 or 15 days we'll actually have beautiful rain clouds.. We get mist belts plenty but not rain clouds. So our winter is coming yo an end by September we'll be getting warmer and I'm looking forward to my scattered clouds to capture so beautiful sunset images I'm so passionate about 😊
I have went out during the day a lot and the skies are wonderful absolutely loved all your images as always Gary 15 stop being my favourite but that rainbow was amazing ! Great footage once again thank Gary 👍
wonderful video Gary.....I use my heavy ND filters to photograph electric welding arcs.... you can see things in the photograph that the welder can not see......just like in landscape images......cheers from Florida USA.....Paul.... and yes, clouds are so wonderful in the middle of the day....
Hi Gary. As im an amature photographer. Id just like to say a HUGE thanks for your video's . Ive seen so many video's of other photographers that explain this and that, but you just tell it in such a way its so easy to pick up and understand alot easier. Like you said in an old video" it doesnt have to be complicated " Love watching your vids and seem like a great guy too👍 Keep up the great work. CHEERS. 🍻🍻
You are so flipping right Gary , I can't recall the last time I had decent clouds at sunrise 😵💫 You had me at the mention of filters.... try as I do I just can't wean myself off long exposures 😅 18:47....Love that image 👌 You've given me the kick I needed to get put in daylight for a change ,cheers for that 👍👍
Another great vlog Gary. It’s a pity that the lighthouse kept getting in the way! Just kidding, it gives a great sense of perspective. Thanks for keeping the channel going, it’s always the highlight of the week!
I have a 16 stop which I don't use all that often but I swear by my 13 stop filter, good at midday when overcast, enables me to capture longer exposures than the big stopper without being ridiculously long. One of the best things about long exposure photography is you can shoot pretty much when you want. Super captures as always👍
Absolutely superb, looks like I dont have to get up early to get some interesting long exposure images. The pictures are stunning. Thanks for the hardwork
Great images as always Gary. Just getting over a knee replacement so have had time to watch loads of your vlogs and I have throughly enjoyed them all to the point that I forced myself out and hobbled to my local seafront to do some long exposure shots. Paul
I live 10mins from where you where taking the photos so I have in the past taken umpteen photos of the lighthouse. That said, non the way you took your photos, so another visit to Berwick is on the cards very soon. Great photos Gary.
Im new to photography, fallen in love with long exposure shots, feel like im doing ok in the night, but buying my first ND filter, and iv found your YT channel, very helpful information Gary
Wow.... only just found your channel and immediately subscribed. I have never seen such Witchcraft.... those 15 stop images are sublime. Thanks for sharing
Great Gary. I haven't done much long exposure stuff but this is inspiring. You converted me a while ago now, was never a fan but now I can see the beauty in it. I was thinking of your wife stuck in the van though lol.
Great video. I have a 15 stop Lee but very seldom use it. I get bored after 3 mins... 8 mins exposure I will have lost the will to live... lol Brilliant images as usual Gary.. I will go out and give it a wee go at the weekend..
well ive finally joined, I support you anyway I can, now I have a small job ive been able to afford it, think I commented on this in a earlier thread, but your work is awesome
Love those shots! The little bit of blue sky looks fantastic. Surprisingly, l love the portrait aspect ones the most. Usually, l'm not that fond of portrait aspect.
Lovely shots, all of them. My personal choice when you were playing between the 10 stop and the 15 stop was the 10, because I liked the bit if detail the 10 left behind. But on the slideshow at the end when there was no way to tell which, it did not matter. Again, lovely shots, all. I need to work on my filter game a bit more, but I don't really have access to the water. A few small creeks, but no waterfalls, and definitely no beaches, lol.
Loved this outing Gary!. I thought I was the only one who did the reverse engineering thing....LOL! It's great fun to experiment and end up with a great image. Looks like you did get that rainbow in the end. Cheers, thanks for sharing 👍
I'm very interested in this particular video of ND filters use; I'm a day time kind of photographer since I'm generally on a fairly long hike in the Scottish Highlands and I've seen some stunning cloud formations. I've not dabbled that much with my ND filters to date, but you have perked my interest now. Glad you went over your "reverse steps" and it did make sense.....Thank you 😊
Excellent video! Great ideas for midday photos. Makes me wish I was closer to the beach than 3 hours away. But then again, it's 100°F/38°C here so too hot to go to the beach anyway. Lol.
I’m glad all our wife’s are the same. “Does it really take that long to take a picture”
Wicked video.
Lol it’s in their nature I guess 😂😂

I’m heading to Scotland in 2 wks with my camera and I can already hear my amazing wife
I have more shots that include my wife's rear end as she gets bored and wanders into shot than I care to remember!
I really enjoyed this video, Gary. Thank you for being here!
This is a mathematical sum deduced to the end result. Take away for me, don't be afraid of experimentation and its culmination in exposing the limitations of artistic freedom. Enjoyed it.
Don't blame your wife. Photography is fun, watching a photographer husband is boring! Excellent information, thankyou.
Those last photos with the rainbow, what a wonderful surprise. Great video, as usual. See you soon!
Just in awe with the details in the clouds and results of that 15 stop filter. Truly brilliant!!!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. I am motivated to experiment a bit more. Amazing photographs too.

Amazing. Funny but Berwick is a real hidden gem of a place.
Not been there since my childhood. Now I live at the other end of the country
Excellent information Gary and very well explained thank you for sharing it with us
Very welcome
The big skies in Northumberland alone make the county well worth a visit. Love all the images and thanks for taking the time to explain in detail what you are doing.

Thanks for the video! Not only is it interesting to see the use of filters to take long daytime exposures, but your excitement and enthusiasm really hold ones attention. Wonderful shots
How fortuitous that, as you affix the filter at about 7:45, a cloud comes over and darkens the video! That’s the coolest thing ever!
Nice work Gary, thanks for taking the time, hope the misses was not too unhappy.
Have only been watching you for a few weeks but I am learning so much. Thank you Gary
