Aloha....Awesome coffee run. .. I went thru the same thing for my son who is 27 yrs old who has autism. My husband and i are his guardians... just completed my trust, took about 8 months to complete. Gabe has a awesome support system and a loving, beautiful, wonderful, awesome and blessed ohana.❤

Thank you for sharing this information. I mentioned on the video regarding the guardianship of Gabe that a good friend of mine worked in a care home for adults with Down's Syndrome for 18 years, his sister, who is now a retired LPN, worked at the same facility for about 10 years. I tell them about your channel all the time (they are older than me so technology isn't their forte') and mentioned if they ever knew that having working in the field. They said they never heard about it to which I replied that your mom mentioned in the video that not many people do know about it till the state has to get involved. They both agreed that it does make sense the more you think about it. Thank you for sharing your family with us, it is always a pleasure to watch and Gabe just melts me every time....and his laugh in this video...absolutely wonderful.

Many thanks for a solid offering of needed information. My DD sister came under my care without any such aafeguards when my mom passed at 67 yrs. . Due to other physical disease, stroke took young sister at age 50. But your speaking out made me realize how compelling this info is to other effected familes to safeguard their soecial family members. Kudos ro you all once again! 8:58

We did the trust,guardian ship,and wills, both for myself and our gorgeous daughter. So the questions you’re answering are similar to what many have asked us. At the moment we are talking about making friends. Livy has asked me why she has no friends. It brings me to tears sometimes. We classify your whole family as our friends. Keep up the good work and always believe in yourselves and that inner spirit you all have.🥰

I just want to say I fell in love with your family. I wish my family was as close. It always makes me smile to see you all laughing and the love in your eyes for each other. Me and my twin are the youngest in family of 2 older boys and counting me my twin 4 girls. Next youngest is 11 older. Me and my twin were double surprise as they didn't know there was 2 of us. So my siblings were jealous of us as they had to watch us as my parents were working. My oldest brother made a comment when my dad passed away. That how my dad use to play games and make believe like playing cowboys and Indians or cops and robbers. Then said how me and my twin got alot toys and how they didn't get alot of toys. I told him I never wanted the toys I really wanted their time and would have loved to have played cowboy and Indians or just gone to park with them. But they were so tired after working sometimes more then 1 job. I love seeing you all take time together and miss one another when you are apart. I'm 50 now I'm very shy and a introvert but wish my family were in to hugs and kiss on forehead or nose like gab. You are a special family. Love from central Florida. ❤❤❤

It is great that you are getting this information out there for parents and family of people who cannot make these decisions for themselves. And the recommendation of getting an attorney is so important. So many people think they can do these sorts of conservatories for themselves.

Thank you for the psychosocial evaluation idea. Our grandson whom we raised , but is now in an AFL is on the edge of self care. We will look into the psychosocial evaluation to see if it will help us determine where he is in taking care of himself. He is 23 and at this point could not live independently.
Wonderful planning. Very wise to do. These days you can't leave any stone unturned. The Mickey Mouse laws they have now are not meant to help anyone. It just boggles the mind. Gabe is really a lucky guy to have such a loving family. 🥰

I have spina bifida and I have 3 trustees who I have to go through if I need money taken out of my bank account WHEN MY PARENTS DIE TOO I believe it’s the best way to do it when someone has a disability

That's great you help others be aware of what they need to do. I have an older brother who is mentally challenged & my parents are 77. They have been talking about this stuff too. Nice you went for a walk & all got coffee. Closet Dunkin Doughnuts to me is an hour away.

I loved watching you all walk down to get Dunkin for Gabe. That was the sweetest.❤ he was so excited and I’m happy you all have merchandise now. FYI, I work for a nonprofit organization for adults with disabilities and we have some that are down syndrome as well and I have one that works there that I happened to get through high school and we graduated high school together.

I love the way Gabe beats his drumstick to a rhythm only he hears in his head. Of course he should have Starbucks every day if he wants it. His wants are simple and few, and it shouldn't be too big of a problem to indulge him!

Thank you so much for sharing all of the things that you do because people really don’t know or understand what to do. My dad is about to be 81. If he has to go into a nursing home, the state can take half of everything. So we have to get him to name us and make a will. That is a law for anybody in our state. Most people don’t know until it happens. Which we will not be putting him a nursing home because that is his wish. But, I now need to ask questions for myself as I am fighting to get disability and I am claimed as a dependent even though I am 50. I have three doctors who signed saying I can not work because of the illnesses I have which include Lupus, heart problems, eye epilepsy and overactive nerves in my brain which cause me to black out and fall because my brain can not handle the signals and it has to literally reboot. Sometimes when I come around, I can’t talk, but I can write or the other way around. So, I need to know what to do (if they will ever give me disability) for my future. So a big thank you!!! Such a great family!! Can’t wait for Kira to be home! I’ll bet it is bittersweet for her. You must show her graduation. Is she continuing on in her education for like a masters degree, moving back to find work. We need a Kira’s future video (and of course a fantasy/alternate reality one just for laughs!!

I am certainly not an expert but I’ve been through something somewhat similar, in U.K. law you can specify in a will your absolute wishes but it needs to be witnessed and verified by a notary.
The will unless heavily contested will stand as a true and final legal document. All parties involved in the plan will need to sign a legal document stating that they concur and comply with said arrangements.

We have a trust for our 3 kids. They have Autism. Glad you all got one for Gabe.
And ideally, parents should see an attorney and start this process while their child is 17 yo so that it can go into effect on their 18th birthday.
