      +Damian Walter. I just had my comb coils done two days ago what should I put on them and when should I start appying it to the locs? My locs are hard and feel dry. should they feel hard at this stage? also I wanted to order your starter kit but it doesn't say how long is the shipping.

    Yes Damian!!! I love you wanting to teach these people, because I'm my particular area (north Dallas) no one knows how to really do natural hair (I'm not locing just natural) and every one knows how to do weaves and braids but are clueless to their natural textured hair. Many of these girls going around with salons saying they do everything EXCEPT NATURAL HAIR. How can you do all these "protective styles" if you aren't treating the source you want to protect! Lord let me get off the comments before I rant

    Hello, my name is Vanessa and I just started my lock journey a week ago and I'm pretty excited 😊. I was told by loctician to not wash or condition my hair for 6 weeks and I've been doing my research and I find some people say it's good to wash and condition starter locks after at least two weeks. I'm very confused as to what to do because I don't want to have issues with my hair. I have 4c type of hair and my hair gets dry easily, so I don't know if that's a problem or not.

    I do agree that using a shampoo conditioner combo is silly and a gimmick that companies use. However, I will say based off experience as well as using Design Essentials products ( you recommend) that Shea Moisture products are far superior. Shea moisture makes a Salon professional line that I use on my locs that you surely should give a look. On top of this design essentials has known harmful additives. When we do our research on harmful chemicals alone -- even if it did work better-- which it did not, it is not an option! Especially when we want to talk about health.

    • @dhaggans18
      @dhaggans18 8 лет назад +1

      Design essentials may not be your preference but to in comparison to salon quality Shea moisture still doesn't compar. When it comes to anything mainstream by law when it's on that shelf it's not require to have a high percentage of active ingredients.

    • @mines2680
      @mines2680 8 лет назад +2

      +Domonique Haggans I have no clue what your point was attempting to be, but point blank. His focus is health of the hair. Design Essentials has ingredients that are known as harmful. Shea moisture does not. A perm works too, but that does not make it good for the health of the hair. I'll spend my black earned dollars on a black family owned business, that doesn't load me up with harsh chemicals any day.

    • @zj98
      @zj98 8 лет назад +3

      +mines2680 Shea Moisture is overrated and I don't think they're really black owned.

      +MéLisa “Jonesie” Jones It makes no sense at all. You're stripping your hair of everything. This woman should've never colored her hair because it's obvious she didn't know what a rinse is and like Damien said certain colors just don't 'lift' that easy.
      If you don't know what to do with your hair, cut it off.

      Beeswax, gels and butters cause buildup.

    Did this video make anyone else want to go wash their hair. Lol I paused the video and grabbed my taliah waajid three step (2 shampoos) and conditioner and washed my hair. Then i sprayed my carrot oil before braiding it. Ah that small loc life.

      i use the taliah waajid stimulating herbal cleanser, total body moisturizing shampoo, and the enhancing herbal conditioner. I use the carrot sheen or olive oil sheen spray that damien recommends as well. Although i use the carrot far more than the olive oil.

      Did I miss the recommendation part? Where'd he recommend them?

      He recommends the carrot sheen spray he has it on his website. I went with the taliah products because i found more reviews that worked for me than i did for design essentials. I figured i could try them first and if i didn't like them i could try the design essentials. But i got the carrot and olive sheen sprays that damien has on his website and i use the carrot all the time and the olive sometimes.

      +De Ca thanks. Where do you get your shampoo products from? I haven't found one my hair likes.

      Target and amazon mainly, sometimes i will find a good deal on vitacost.com. One thing i found out i went to a beauty supply and found the taliah shampoo and conditioner and bought them but when i got home i compared them to the ones i bought online and they were watered down. So i'm only getting them online from now on.

    Is it bad if locs have a little hardness to them??
