I followed your shampoo steps with the designer essentials products and I’m in love! The products were so amazing on my starter locs. I have 4c textured hair and after 1 and half weeks I had to wash my hair and my two strands were still in tact and are slightly budding 😍. I’m glad I found your channel.

I know exactly what you mean when someone washes the hell out of your hair. The loc salon I go to, this lady washed my hair so good, I told her to give me a second after she was done!! She isn’t always there when I go and I need my hair washed like that all the time. I wish I lived close by you though. I’ve watched so many videos of yours! I’m only 2 1/2 months in my loc journey

Honey creme moisture retention I put that on my hair and instantly "GLITTER" that's the only way I could explain, everyone should try three step process at least once
I do the entire regimen once a month and let me tell you it works! Been on it for a a while now my hair grows like wild fire!!

@@TahtianaKyes it is, personally I thought it was a little on the expensive side but it definitely is worth it. it's really not expensive but I was used to paying $6-7 a piece for shampoo and conditioner but they weren't giving me what I needed so I finally took his advice and went with design essentials and I instantly regretted not doing it sooner
@@joanlissa. It's only been about 2 months that I've been using it which is crazy considering how long I've been watching Damian's channel but in these couple months I definitely notice a major difference with those products wish I had always been using them my hair would probably have another 2 inches by now

Once a week if you're working out and sweat heavy in your scalp. I recommend a good clarifying shampoo, then follow up with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Happy hair journey!🙂👍🏾

Can you do a video on proper clip placement when retwisting locs especially starter locs. I heard placement makes a difference in the outcome of your hair
You can't or shouldn't place the clip on the new growth that is being twisted it has to be clipped on the most mature part of the lock but sometimes you want to get it as close as possible to the new growth without touching it with the clips

@@Iamtequilabnatural. It's all good that's a beginner mistake we all have done if you started doing your hair yourself I've done that plenty of times but like you said it was at the beginning of my journey so for the most part they are pretty well rounded at this point

Damian, please respond. What kind of shampoo can I use if my hair can't take too much protein? It makes my hair so dry and stiff when I use any shampoo with protein in it.

Did you put him under the dryer?
When conditioning locs do you condition the roots and new growth only or the shift of the hair as well
New growth and roots only. If you put conditioner on the shaft, its prone to getting build up. No bueno.

@@roj30001 well, many people use apple cider vinegar to remove buildup, some use dishwasher detergent. Never tried either so cant be of much help, I'm afraid. I'm sure the answer is somewhere on these internets tho. Best of luck with ur locs.

@@roj30001 UPDATE: I lied, I have actually tried ACV rinse but a while ago. So, I decided to try it again last night when washing my locs. Its an ACV+water mix that is recommended on the channel BeSpiffyBeYou.
So, I basically sprayed my roots, saturating the areas where I saw recent buildup, and literally squeezing the buildup up and out. It worked really well on the locs where I squeezed it through. Then i just washed my hair as usual.
ACV made my scalp feel super light afterwards and I'm gonna be doing an ACV rinse before washing every other month from now on.
I know Damian doesn't recommend recommend this method. His approach is more about avoiding the buildup in the first place. But, until he has a video suggesting how to remove existing buildup, I'm gonna be using the ACV rather than letting the buildup get out of control.
