Before I started my Locs I watched Damian for almost a year. I tried to learn as much as possible about the process. I eventually found a Loctician that understood what I was looking for, and also watched Damian as well. 1 year later, All my dreads are intact, I get consistent compliments, I get asked alot of questions about my journey, and I am enjoying the process. But it all started by just getting informed about the process, and not letting just anybody jump into my head. Thank you
And that's what you're suppose to do. People just go to someone and trust that because they're the so called experienced one they know what they're doing and you don't question them. Nope not me, I care if it's a hair stylist or doctor I don't take your word about everything just because it's your profession. Why...because everybody not in a profession because they're passionate and want to help people like Damien, but they're in it for the money. And if you're bothered about me expressing my opinion about MY hair and what I want, that I'm paying you for then we can part ways and I'm gone.

Omg , that happened to me before when I was doing a co-workers hair. It was so sad and shocked me but her hair was really over processed with bleach and it just came out as I was doing a fishtail braid for her and I didn’t pull tight or anything with the braid. Her hair was past tail bone length too. Talk about heartbreaking...😣 proper care from the root goes a looooong way.

I watch Damian like everyday. I started my Locs 2 weeks ago at age 57 cause it’s been my dream since childhood. I love it so much and learn a lot from you everday. You’re awesome Damian and god bless.

How did client do her re twist? Did she continue to use food in her hair ? Did she ever do her own wash? I'm wondering if after a wash was her hair still prone to breakage?if a client get a bad retwist do you recommend washing it out immediately? She has hope with proper education , I think

I don't get it people...these folks complain about the people who maintained their Locs, why did they keep going to them. I know when my hair ain't right and the first time my loctician do something wrong or crazy to my hair...Peace I ain't coming back!!!

I don't even have dreads, and I'm subscribing. That intro had me on the floor. Like its General Hospital or something. LOL. I wonder is locs all that they do. I am natural, I get my hair pressed out every now and then. (Currently, I have faux crochet locs in) He sounds really knowledgable, and in my town.
Locs are dreads lol hence the name "Dreadlocks"

I know the place that I wanted to go and New York I went in there and I looked at some of the work but this is for natural hair not dreads or your dreadlocks they wanted I think back when I went to find out about it they wanted $125 to do my hair because my hair was waist-length and all I wanted them to do was a series of box braids and they told me $125 cuz it had to be conditioned and blah blah blah blah blah blah so I decided yeah on Saturdays if I don't have anything to do every 2 to 3 weeks I unplugged my own hair conditioner shampoo it and I do it myself Alan don't cost me no more that about $10 what's some of the oil the most of the oils and things that I use are you can ingest it so if I can eat it drink it it can go on my head or my scalp and my hair I don't put anybody else down but I don't have time for it I'm very impatient so I do my own hair can you text me maybe about about two and a half hours according to if I'm you know deep conditioning and putting hot cap on or whatever it may be in the winter time sometime when I'm conditioning with oil I'll put the cap on and a towel and put it under my hat and going about my business

Unfortunately, occasionally stylists get a bad rap for the condition of these heads. I started a loc client in January, and then get a message in April, "hey, can you retwist my locs". No shampoo, no retwist since day 1. Some folks refuse to follow proper care instructions for maintaining locs. It's not always the stylist fault.

This is so true!! Instead of spending so much time bashing the previous work educate the client on maintaining it once they get out of the chair. Clients are to blame a lot of times.
