      He knows his work and he knows his job and he wants to see good results of his work and it's not going to happen overnight because I've been on my natural hair Journey now for 3 years it has grown I have to keep it clipped I don't have dreads but I like to keep my hair neat and clean looking because my job I have to keep my hair plane so nobody will ever think that I don't wash my hair and unfortunately some of us black women have a reputation for that and people have talked about a gold girl I haven't washed my hair in 6 months I would be banging my head on the pavement if I want that long without washing my hair especially if I have weaves or I keep on having a pudding products in my scalp so number one we must keep our hair clean and we must see if we can go to a professional read find out what is this why I was here but most of all these guys all these men that do here I think they really want to stay the outcome of everything

      I think they probably didnt watch the entire video. At the beginning, for me, it was uncomfortable. Like, she knew she had issues with her hair and it almost seemed like his chastising/questioning was too much. It was tough love, real talk and necessary. It really seems like he is about hair health.

    • @Tundalieya
      @Tundalieya 4 года назад +2

      The thumbs down is because how he’s talking to the client making them feel stupid because they didn’t know that the other cosmetologist didn’t know what they were doing.
      he’s doing the amateur clientele boost but shortly after those clients will also leave him because he will always put people down to make a self feel better and that’s why Cosmetologist that are caring and kind are putting thumbs down on his post.
      You always make the client involved and engaged about their services that they’re choosing to do and how you can correct some of the issues they’re having and don’t ever ever ever put down another stylist especially in front of a client!

    The 1st woman, this is low self esteem, insecurity and being beat down with condemnation regularly. its not simply ignorance or not being honest. while it all may be entertaining and a spectacle, we also have to be able to read a persons emotional strength as well. lets all make sure we primarily build ppl up above enjoying failures.

      @monicaeast5663 7 лет назад +18

      Marva Adams The stylist was completely in the wrong, we all know this. However, it's hair and hair grows back. To sue is a little bit much in my opinion. Honestly it's partially her fault because she kept going back to the same salon when she knew she was never satisfied. She should have done some better research and found him sooner.

    • @honeylickher
      @honeylickher 7 лет назад +18

      Monica East to sue is not to much.. so if her hair fall out and not grow back then what.. things that women us tobtheir hair can lead to other much serious and permanent damage to her scalp.. Thise people went to school and got a license to do hair.. If you dont want to sue cause its hair thats on you but thats was not good advice to give..

    • @lavenderdc3637
      @lavenderdc3637 7 лет назад +15

      Monica East She said that was her first time for that style. Hair will grow back...maybe. For some people it takes years and extra money to get back to square one. In the meantime, she has to walk around with a hair style that she never signed up for and that hairdresser is effing someone else's hair up. For the stress alone, this woman should sue. And hopefully the stylist will get her act together and get some more lessons before she do one more head.

    The sexist thing a person can posses is knowledge. IVE NEVER heard anyone in a salon get that detailed about hair and knowing how your overall health affects the hair and even have the photos of the scalp and cuticle. THATS A HAIR DOCTOR FO YO ASS.... I started my locs 8months ago and may need to come see you kuz idk whats really going on anymore

      Prach!!! Oh man, I fought tears, too...
      I've been through this very thing before, as a teenager and this randomly recommended video brought back memories of bad hair stylists. Twenty plus years ago, I went in for color correction, since I used a box color on myself. My hair was cinnamon on the ends and brassy orange up top (I was 19 & this was '93...I didn't know ANYTHING professional then). I asked for a brown rinse to balance out what I had done, just days before. The stylist took a black rinse and put powder (I later learned that it was a booster) in it & told me that it would "lighten up later"...My hair turned GREEN, BLUE and started breaking off. My feelings were so hurt! I had to go & get my shoulder-length hair chopped down to a Halle Berry/T-Boz type of cut. The also had to put a red rinse on it to cancel the green caste. The owner assessed my dilemma & took great care of me in the end, though. So yeah, this video definitely gave me deja vu twice...A few years ago, I had gotten some starter dreads and I took them out because the relaxed hair, on the ends, bugged me & the parts were almost like hers. A few months down the line, it hit me: I had just lost my mom, at that time & I didn't really want dreads. I was just grieving a fresh loss and was all over the place. I took it all out on my hair.
      sorry for the long story!!

    • @noirprncess
      @noirprncess 7 лет назад +1

      msshalle I cried because I've been there. In my case, it was a stylist I went to for years (and spent thousands of dollars on over years). After a year break from her, I went back for a color. I went for light brown & ended up orange. She blamed me for her MISTAKE. I was done with her after that visit but had to get find someone to correct her mistake.

    • @lisatezeno3098
      @lisatezeno3098 7 лет назад +11

      Taylor Cunningham . Trial and Error. I use to cut it loose. Sides were long back was short. Hard to cut ends when your hair not straight and your a natural on top of being a first timer and definitely not a professional. OMG. I started doing a few two strand twist in my head and decided to cut my ends when my hair was in twist. It made cutting my ends a lot easier and you can control how much your cutting off. I would cut about 1/4 inch off. It depended on how my ends look.

      I have gone for consultation and most headdresses they don't charge for consultation most doctors don't charge for consultation and I'm glad that this man is telling this woman the truth I am a natural woman I don't have dreads or twist but I read so many articles and so many of them give us as black women with tightly curled hair the very truth about how we have to take care of our hair and a lot of my acquaintance that we talked about natural hair they think that you just wash it and go and if I come up with things that I read they don't want to hear it like keep your scalp clean don't have it twisted too tight don't put product in it that you're going to keep them there for weeks and weeks and weeks cuz they think putting product after product that the product is going to keep the hair locked some of them don't wash their hair drink water don't drink alcohol but they don't drink water this is not all Naturals but most of them sometime you'll see bedland in the twist yes you have to wrap your hair and you have to to get a good product you have to put a good product in don't think you just lock it and don't wash it for months just keep twisting it so I'm glad that these young men has come into existence and teach us how to take care of natural hair with the truth no hitting talk or no hidden education thank you

      Christina Marin-Moen I have been using it on son hair, and his dreads are never dry. And I don't twist his hair that often. I have been 4months without retwisting his hair at one point. I guess it depends on the hair texture. What seem to dry that person hair out might not be for the next.

      curlynugrowth.com/jamaican-mango-and-lime-locking-gel-product-knowledge/ tells u why. Every professional should know to read ingredients. I use murrys beeswax because its easy to mold and holds hair, and he gets a conditioning treatment before every touch up.

    Smh... one reason why stay away from stylists... some are simply just that... some do not care about the health or maintenance of your locs. Also it is the client's responsibility to speak up and if something isn't right.....leave. Don't trust everyone with your hair. I'll rather mess up my hair than pay to get it jacked up by someone else

      I stop going to my hairstylist in 2015 when I used to be relaxed. my hair was doing well in prior years because I was younger when I started going to her and my hair could tolerate the "hair trauma". As I got older my hair could not stand the "hair trauma" and started breaking off, got thinner and wouldn't grow. in 2015 I decided to transition and go natural and I never looked back. I had enough and will never go back to another stylist. I love being natural and I style my own natural hair.

    • @MsSphinx91
      @MsSphinx91 4 года назад +2

      I'm bad about not getting out of the chair when I should, but I definitely do not return. I can do my own hair, but I see a stylist once or twice a year for trims and just a general "check up." So I'm not afraid to ditch an incompetent stylist. There really needs to be a natural hair certification. I'm not sure if traditional certifications focus on black natural hair or even curly hair in general.
