- This week we are building a chicken tractor for our ducklings! Alyssa went a little crazy and purchased a whole mess of ducklings, chicks and even a gosling! This portable chicken coop will be used later on for broiler chickens but for now its going to house our little quackers until we finish up their new duck coop and pond!
We had one goal for this project and that was to spend $0 on it!
As always thank you for watching!
God Bless,
Jason and Alyssa

I swear when Alyssa was a little girl she must of dreamed that she wanted to be a Carpenter one day...lol. Girl can Carpenter for sure, you go Girl.
Haha! She’s super impressive, and she really enjoys laying out projects like that and making them a reality 😊 PS. She really liked this comment- thank you 😊
You guys are getting really good at the videos! The music is awesome. Great footage!
Thank you so much!! We really appreciate that! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment ☺️
Great couple getting things done✨😊 Thank you for your channel. Great job renewing the place💎
Thank you so much! We appreciate you watching!! ☺️☺️
That was really sweet to stay with them to get them used to their new home.
lol the little buggers were scared for a while, but they sure enjoy being in the grass! 😊
Jason, first and foremost, you are blessed to have Alyssa. Don’t ever forget that. Secondly, you are both lucky to have all your critters and a great place to take care of them. Keep these great video coming!
That is a fact! 😊🙏🏼 And thank you! We’re loving fixing this place up… next up, we’re building Alyssa a greenhouse. It’s going to be a really big project, but it will be super nice when it’s finished 😊😊
@@MTN_BUILT If anyone can tackle a really big project it is you two. I’m looking forward to seeing it.
@@nmelkhunter1 thank you so much!! 😊🙏🏼
I did find some varments can get through chicken wire easily so i used the stronger small square wire. It's all looking great!
The hardware cloth definitely works best and is easier to work with too! But it was my mission to use all the materials we already had haha and all we had was old chicken wire we had pulled out of our yard from the previous owners fence lol! 😂
Found y’all thru the mules, stayed for everything else 😂🦅❤️🔥
Haha thanks Adrian!! We will have more cool mule stuff coming up eventually! Jason’s job makes it hard to get away on trips but hopefully we will make some happen this summer ☺️
@@MTN_BUILTlove it all equally, y’all are living our same dream 🎉
@@adrianberryhill thank you 😊 That’s so awesome!
Love your videos!
Thank you so much!😊 we really appreciate that!
They are too cute those little ducklings. Tracey (Australia)
Thank you!! 😊
Awesome video love the bloopers at the end I guess eventually the ducks will be in the pond and yeah that's a lot of ducks and I've never had a duck egg probably won't either lol thanks kray
Haha! Thank you Kray 😊 I was surprised how much I like the duck eggs… they’re just a little less runny than a chicken egg, but they taste the same to me. And I was surprised to see that the ducks lay better through the winter too 😊
Great video. Duck eggs are great, especially in baking.
They are! And I have heard they are phenomenal for baking, I need to use them more in that! I should have plenty now 😅😅😅
What a great video .. I really enjoyed it..
Onward and Upward is the Watchword ..
Thank you Jeff! We appreciate you watching ☺️
I just found your channel as a suggestion by RUclips on your What makes a Mule. I'm a poultry guy but interested in most animals. Did you get Blue Swedish, Welsh Harlequins and Cayugas ? Goslings are so sweet. If you ever want a homestead duck that you can eat the extra males and get lots of eggs, I would suggest the Ancona. My absolute favorite duck breed and i've had several different breeds! The are about 2/3 white and 1/3 color. Black, blue, silver, chocolate, lilac and tri color which is a brownish/fawn color and is not recommended to breed from for show. They are cousins of Magpies though a slight different background. I like your mix of chickens from the glance i saw.
Thank you!! Yep, you’re spot on with the breeds☺️ they are all full grown now and I’ll need to get rid of my extra drakes soon. The goose sure is growing and I really enjoy visiting with them all haha!
We have quite the mix of chickens and my new chicks are fully feathered now too!! ☺️
Thanks for the tips on duck breeds! 😃 I’m new to ducks and tried to do some research, but always love to hear from people like yourself that know the breeds well and have had experience with them ☺️
Thought I'd pass on that not all chicken/duck feed is safe in this day and age. One family y.t. site found that they were extremely high in glysophate (Roundup). They checked everything on their farm which tested clean. The serious problem of poisoning came from their home raised chickens, both eggs and meat. The feed they thought was clean was super high in glysophate. Just a heads up...make sure to use tested feed or organic. Want you folks to stay happy and healthy!
Thank you!! Yes that is something that is great to think about! When I raised meat birds in the past I sourced organic, non gmo and soy free feed to raise them on. But I do feed our layers the run of the mill stuff typically. We are limited to what is available around our small town. Our hens do free range a lot and get any kind of scrap (produce and such) we have. But that definitely is a great point and something to check out. I wonder how I could check on the brand of feed we buy locally…
I've had chickens but not ducks, but I've eat plenty of duck eggs, they are far richer than chicken eggs and the yokes are bigger. When them ducks start laying good, you're going to be covered up in duck eggs. If you don't already know how you might want to check out how to water glass eggs. You can keep them close to a year that way. Dried meal worms are a real treat for chickens and ducks. If you don't have a rooster you got to get one or maybe two for that many chickens. Got to have a rooster to keep them girls in line;)
Oh nice! And yes, we’ll probably have a lot lol it seems like the ducks lay better than the chickens in the winter. Hopefully we’ll have plenty to give away to friends and family 😊
I’ll have to look up how to water glass eggs… I haven’t heard of it. Thanks for the tip! 😊
I am glad you don't have to duck to visit the ducks ;)
😂😂😂 my back is too 😂
Here's a shout out to your Oregon ties I live in Albany Oregon my parents moved from priest River Idaho to Oregon in 1971!!!
Oh wow that’s awesome, I grew up only a few miles from Albany ☺️ thanks for watching!
I only watch because it's worth watching so thank you
Well we sure appreciate it ☺️
Love it! Great looking pen for them
Thank you!! Not bad for using salvaged materials 😊 It was a fun little project and Alyssa made it look really nice (in my slightly biased opinion lol)
@@MTN_BUILT honestly she did awesome! I loved it
@@bobbiemayers354 thank you so much! I’ll definitely make sure she she’s this comment 😊🙌🏼😊
@@MTN_BUILT I love A frame buildings this is one of my favorites
I'm watching now but wondered where Alyssa picked up the building skills power tools etc thanks kray
Mornin Kray! 😊 Her dad is a construction guy, but Alyssa is mostly self-taught. She’s not afraid to jump in and learn as she goes, and she’s starting to get really good at those types of things! It’s pretty impressive to watch 😊
@@MTN_BUILT good morning yes it is impressive she has skills for sure thanks kray
I bought one of your tee-shirts and it was such low quality I used it as a rag and threw it away.
Aw man! I’m really sorry to hear that… we were actually just talking about quitting selling them because that’s not the first time we’ve had an issue with quality from our current supplier. That’s super disappointing, and we appreciate you letting us know.
@@MTN_BUILTwhen I had shirts printed I used Carhartt.
@@laurence1643 that’s good to know! Did you do screen printing or direct-to-garment?
