    Write your answers to these questions:
    1. 자주 먹는 음식이 뭐예요?
    What's the food you eat often?
    2. 어렸을 때 (when you were little) 자주 먹던 음식이 뭐예요?
    What's the food you used to eat often when you were little?
    3. 제 비디오 올라왔을 때 (when my video was uploaded) 뭐 하던 중이었어요?
    What were you in the middle of doing (=what were you doing) when my video was uploaded?

      @Monica Sh d 네, 잘했어요!!! Great job! 이란하고 한국이 밥을 주식(main food)으로 먹는 게 비슷하네요! I see Iran and Korea have white rice in common!!!
      One tip is 제가 자주 먹는, 제가 어렸을 때 자주 먹던 + N: In the embedded clause (=subject for the noun-modifying verbs), it's the most natural to use -이/가 after the subject! 🌹
      저도 비디오 보고 댓글 써 주셔서 감사합니다! Thank you for watching and writing your sentence in the comment!

    I just discovered your videos and they are structured really fantastically!! I only found the inserted video part examples a bit too challenging, because they were so fast and sometimes there were no English subtitles... Not sure if it's possible for you to put it in slow motion? Also I was hoping you'd give a few more examples at 7:25 for the use of verbs that indicate the change in status combined with 던 (변하다, 바뀌다, 되다, 지다) will you maybe have another video on that? That would be great :) also my sentences: 제 자주 먹는 음식이 빵이에요. (독일사람이에요ㅎㅎ) 어릴 때 자주 먹던 음식은 피자야. 선생님의 비디오 올라왔을 때 저는 버스 타고 있었어요 / 타던 중이었어요.

      Great job on the sentences!!! 잘했어요! 💕 As for the speed, try adjusting the RUclips playback speed. That may help! For the verbs about change:
      ADJ~아/어지다 : ending only for adjectives to indicate the change of state
      변하다: sino-Korean, also used when food goes bad or a person changes (ex: one doesn’t love you any more)
      바뀌다: most general
      Noun이/가 되다: to become N
      It will be a great idea for a separate video, so I’ll try to make one. Thank you for the suggestion! 🥰

    선생님, 재가 질문 있어요.
    I saw in a video “ 저 같은 경우는 무대를 해봤을 때 가장 좋았던 건 무대 세트였던 것 같아요” was translated as “The thing I like most when going on stage is the stage set” but according to what I understood “좋았던” should be translated as “liked” no?
    Thank you in advance!

    • @KoreanJream
      @KoreanJream  2 года назад

      something-이/가 좋다 literally means "to be good", yes. And because of that meaning, it is also used to say "to personally like". 😊 The literal translation would be "In my case, when I saw the performance (on the stage), I think the best thing was the stage setting."
      저는 커피가 좋아요. As for me, coffee is good. = I personally like coffee.

    I was actually watching Billy's video on this topic and then saw that you just made this video on it too! Both of you helped me, but there is one more thing I would like to know. In Billy's video, he said that it is possible for the "timeline" for -던 is actually from the past to possibly the present. He made the example of:" 철수가 다니던 대학교가 어디서?" and said that this is the only way to say it if 철수 is still going/attending that school, which gives me the impression of it meaning "has been going/attending", so the present perfect progressive, and since the 던 indicates past I assume its different from "the school 철수 attends", because I would say that as "철수가 다니고 있는 ...". But I also know that there is no such thing as a "present perfect continuous" in Korean.
    The video I mentioned: ruclips.net/video/vk2VvtQRAPc/видео.html

    • @KoreanJream
      @KoreanJream  3 года назад

      That specific example “철수가 다니던 학교가 어디지?” is using ~던 because the speaker is recalling the moment they heard about the school 철수 attended/attends, rather than recalling the past when 철수 was attending the school. In the same context, you also hear 다닌다던 = 다닌다고 하던 (said he was attending), which is recalling the time they heard about 철수's school. Or someone's recalling the past moment they learned that 철수 was attending that school, which does not imply anything about now: when I met him, he was in the middle of attending school at that moment. He could be still attending that school, you just don't know.
      If you simply say 여기가 철수가 다니던 학교예요, it cannot mean he still attends that school (unless it's said in a sense I explained above). He “used to attend” and either graduated or transferred and no longer attends that school. Like you said, it would be 다니고 있는 or 다니는 in that sentence.
      In terms of the timeline, because you’re recalling the continuous, incomplete, or in middle of doing an action, it could refer to a second ago when the action was going on. That is probably why he mentioned how the timeline could extend to almost the present time. In my video I gave an example of this phrase ~던 중이었어, which if you think about it, is happening right now when the friend is asking what I am doing: I was looking for a restaurant just now when the friend walked in. So in that sense, it could be used to talk about what was going on a second ago, aka in the middle of... not finished, was going.

    • @mrlolilol14
      @mrlolilol14 3 года назад

      @@KoreanJream I'm recalling the moment I got the information about which school 철수 goes and not recalling attending since I'm not 철수 so I can't recall something I didn't do, I understand that now. And at that moment, he attended, but we don't know about now. If we knew though that he doesn't attend anymore, would 철수가 다녔던 학교가 어디지 be better then or is 다니던 and 다녔던 dependent on whether he attended when saying the information or if he had already graduated when giving the information?

    • @KoreanJream
      @KoreanJream  3 года назад +2

      Yes, your paraphrase is perfect! 🙂 One thing to note is, 철수가 다니던 학교가 어디지? “can” be translated that way: this, however, is not the ONLY way it’s used. More often, in fact, people would understand it as “used to”, referring to the past when 철수 was attending than as recalling the moment I got the information. In sum, it could be used for both meanings! So people would say either 다니던 or 다녔던 to mean “he went/he used to go”. If the speaker knows 철수 is still attending, 다니는/다니고 있는 is what people would use. 😀

      You know how people sometimes ask 뭐 하는 거야? instead of 뭐 해?
      - This is when the person is focused on the action itself "What is the thing you are doing?", especially when the other person is doing something weird or surprising. When you are asking about what the other person was "in the middle of doing" or asking about the past moment you are recalling, you say "뭐 하던 거야?"
      이거 뭐야? What's this?
      내가 먹던 거야. It's what I was in the middle of eating.
      이거 누가 하던 거야? Who was in the middle of doing "this thing"?
      어, 내가 하던 거야. 다시 할 거야. Oh, it's what I was doing. I will get back to it.
