The Sorento is the mothership of Kia’s line-up. A big, seven-seater SUV which during the past decade has won over Aussie families for its spaciousness and practicality, its safety tech and the way it drives, while being great value for money.
Now the new-generation model has arrived looking leaner and meaner than the old Sorento. So, has it lost any of the charms which made it a winner, or has it only got better?

Who would’ve thought my dream vehicle would be a Kia!
Kia and hyundai are great but your dream vehicle really!
@@991carreras3 beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This is not bad for a Korean car.
Wow, something I never thought hear in same sentence "Kia" and "Dream car" in same line🙂
yes this is awesome for a Kia- love it- would buy it over a BMW X3 anyday
@@georgedowns4034
Definitely over x3 anyday but not x5 or x7 different ball game
Mate you are a dead set legend. My wife and I are looking for a new car with our expanding family. You have made this video enjoyable to watch with your funny jokes but also kept it serious explaining everything very well. 10/10 review
Thanks Camomo_10 - Richard likes to make peoples' day, and you've just made his!
Great feedback.
Tell you what, Kia is becoming impossible to ignore.
Absolutely. There is absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever with any Korean made vehicle, Ssangyong included. Quality offerings 1000%
That's a stereotype that's quickly being washed away. In today's time, German cars have relatively similar build quality to Korean car manufacturers as well as Lexus, a Japanese brand.
@Jack Wood Nowadays, many of the German cars especially Mercedes and BMW are consistently ranked at the top for highest annual maintenance costs. That means they're in the shop getting fixed a lot especially after several years of ownership. They're simply not as well made or long lasting like their older versions back in the late 80s/90s/early 00's. Albert Biermann who was former VP of BMW's M line is now in charge of R&D at Hyundai/KIA and was responsible for the Stinger and the N line Veloster. The head of their design department used to work for Bentley hence the reason why the quality of materials inside have improved drastically. Koreans finally wised up and hired the European competition to spice up their vehicles and it's working...very well judging by their recent sales uptick.
@@csamela1987 Jack Wood is obviously a troll, stop feeding it. lol
Absolutely, Toyota and Mazda must be laying awake at night staring at the ceiling wondering how they didn't see it coming. Cheers Richard
Kia is putting S Class technology in ordinary cars and it's incredible
Yup and Kia is working its guts out to win you over in design, technology, driveability. Are all the other car makers working this hard? Cheers Richard
No tech, other than self driving, is really that complex in the grand scheme. The fact that for some reason luxury brands feel it is okay to charge an extra 2-3K for a 360 camera is just because "we are luxury, so we charge w.e we want"
@@TheNacropolice has a lot more tech then just self driving mate. I can't be bothered to list them all for a RUclips reply, but go to the Kia website and just have a look at alllll the sensors it has. I don't know to be honest if there's even anything it's missing in that regards, this car is stacked
Really??? You think so??? Is that why it lacks 3-zone climate control?!?!?!?!
@Tony Bebich well it would more like be 30k
This guy is my new favourite for reviews. Really love his style and keeps me engaged at all times, especially the light humour.
Hats off to Kia. They have come such an incredibly long way in quality in the last decade, it’s just amazing.
True was going to get a toyota reliable but new not so reliable old kia not reliable but new yes what happen
They sure look good but quality is still bad. After 2,000 miles, you will have rattles that the dealer will not be able to figure out. If only they prioritize their quality before the aesthetics, more people will not hate the brand.
Korean companies are doing great these days. Japanese were great in the 80s 90s and 2000s but not anymore. The Korean manufacturers are absolutely outperforming the old Japanese in many ways. I wasn't the biggest fan of the Korean products before but seriously who is still going for Sony these days when Samsung and LG does so much better in every aspects. Talking about the cars.. Kia, Hyundai and Genesis is far more innovative than Toyata, Mazda, Nissan, and Lexus these days.
The next 20 years will belong to the Korean car companies I think, and then China for possibly the next century... I think. cheers Richard
@@carsguide What a pity there are 2 Koreas...if they were one country they would be a world beating powerhouse.
Totally agree. Specially adding new tech.
and of course Samsung builds cars too..
@T L not at all ..Aussie here
probably one of the most entertaining car reviews I’ve seen !
Picked up our GT Line diesel yesterday. 100% agree with the review. It is a great car, loads of tech, great cameras, drives well, seems a little thirsty (getting 9.5km/l in my first day driving around the city), loads of room for us. I drive an AMG GLC43 to and from work. Kia is certainly making it hard to justify buying another Mercedes, BMW or Audi from a quality, cost, warranty and package perspective (albeit I can't give up that GLC43 engine!). Very happy with this car after the first 24 hours.
Fuel economy will improve as once motor has run itself in after a few thousand ks.
No new engine gives best fuel performance when new I found.
Mick Wallace 100%. It’s already down to 8.2L per 100km. Done about 30% highway kms in that. It gets 5.8L sitting on the freeway. Still very happy with the car after having it for three weeks now. Best car dollar for dollar we’ve bought.

Great to hear that..I'm going to be looking at purchasing a GT Line Sorento next year.. I currently own a 2019 Kia Carnival Platinum been very happy with it.. reviews for Sorento so far say definitely a vechile that is value for money...
Happy motoring 👍
Hi JD, how is engine noise in the cabin on this new model?
Cause I sold my 2017 Platinum Diesel because of noise.. what's the idle rpm?
Om Parajuli hi mate. I don’t really mind the diesel but I didn’t drive the previous version. I never rated any Kia until I drove this car. Perfect car for a small family in my view.
Honestly one of the best car reviews out there- guy so entertaining and so underated
Absolutely brilliant video! Loving the new Sorento but love the direct, informative but funny delivery too 😂 Keep it up 😎
I’m obsessed with this car, and I love the walk and talk at the end 😂
Spookily enough, I had just been thinking I hadn’t seen a Richard Berry review in quite a while and boom, here you are. Thank you, RUclips algorithm and CarsGuide.
Just ordered one! Should arrive by December 😁 can't wait. In Europe we get this diesel and a 1.6 230bhp mild hybrid which is the one I'm getting! Greetings from Gibraltar, uk 🇬🇮
ok mate 3 years later I will knock on your door offering 1/3 price you are paying now LOL
A little bit jealous. Cheers Richard
Will get mine, the hybrid in 2 weeks time . Gonna be cool
It's not a mild hybrid, it is a full hybrid.
How was the experience? Could you shsre?
You Mr Berry would have to have one of the best personalities to review cars
Awww... thank you. Also it's Mr Berry. But you can call me anything you like! Thank you, Mr Barry
I own a GT line Sportage and now a picanto gt line s .Kia really are making some fantastic cars.
One of the best car reviews I’ve watched. It’s fun, entertaining and different. Great Video!
KIA AUSTRALIA please bring the 6 seater option and two tone interior!
Love the whimsical approach! Kia's come a long way. Don't need a big SUV these days but can't wait for some of that tech to trickle down to the Cerato 😁
I liked the intro and honesty within first minute of the video. I have liked it already. Going to watch full review now. Thanks.
Well yesterday I got to be a passenger in this absolutely stunning car and just sitting in the passenger seat was absolutely Blown Away by the room the comfort and for a diesel that car has a lot of power it's such a beautiful car
Richard you’re legend mate… I’m hooked up to your reviews these days and I’m searching only for yours in cars guide … funny but informative
Ahaha, really like the way you present the whole story😍, the humour 😂✔️
great review Barry..made me giggle a few times there mate..Kia has definitely come a long way
Great review, you make me wanna buy this car
One of the best car reviews I have seen. Plus great features especially on the gt model.
Wow, that made my day. Thank you, Richard
Brilliant review, one of the best car review available on RUclips.
Simply the best reviewer down under & details full of informations for buyers... you're awesome bud!👍👌
Richard Berry is hilarious! Usually these car reviews are so robotic and boring. But, I love how casual and entertaining he is. Amazing host!
Thanks Richard for the great review . I was about to get a 2021 stinger and your review helped me decide on the Sorento Premier version (NZ) (Gt Line in Australia)
Test drove and buying one today
Many Thanks
You give a perfect review and cover all the aspects awesomely.....i give 10/10 on your review
Was looking for a good suv this year to buy and saw this is the one for me..It’s great when you park this car and if you can’t get out or get in then you can press the button to move forward for you especially when your out doing grocery or lifting heavy things.
So it’s just the cars next to you that have bashed their doors onto yours.
Hi Berry, nice work with the review mate. Great demeanor. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Bunbury.
Love the way you presented this !
Loved your review!
excellent presentation... love it
I like your review, you make it fun!
Good job. I love your review.
Very slick, Sir Berry. Happy 2021!
Love the enthusiasm
I just love this guys review
Awesomeee... My wishlist 😁😁
Hope i can change my crv to this Sorento 😍
Enjoyed the presentation. Thanks.👍
That ending was incredible!
Enjoyable review, Thank you so much
This guy is awesome he does the best reviews in Australia
I really like how honest you are and chill with how your viewers will watch the vid hahaha
Judging from the engine noise at start up, it seems like the 2.2L Hyundai R turbodiesel is back. It's such a wonderful engine. Surprising how diesels on Japanese equivalents are still behind overall.
Thanks your sir for the review it's real really amazing car also the specs and you
Your reviews are great and funny. Love it. Can't believe I am only watching this channel today
Welcome aboard! Stay tuned, Richard and the team have many more cars left to review in the world of cars.
Great review.
Excellent review mate.. How about offroad driving? take it for a splash around maybe do an offroad comparison
I've never been a fan of Hyundai's or Kia's, but that is one good review. Everything explained well.
Honestly I do not have the money to afford this but I'm saving to get a demo model next year haha this thing is a beast!!! Awesome review as well mate the Mrs and I haven't seen your vids before but you do a great job, love it not being so serious
Thanks for the time markers.
Loved this review he made something serious and fun and enjoyable
I have a 2019 model with 2.2CRDI and fuel economy is usually 8.4L/100km but if I use the cruise control on the motorway it will go down to 6.3L/100km
That's pretty darn good! Cheers Richard
@@carsguide my dad's Volvo is better though its a 2010 Xc60 2.4D DRIVe manual it does 5.8L/100Km and its a 5 cylinder
Had these at our dealership in Australia for about a week and a half, still haven't seen a petrol yet or a sport or sport ÷ yet, some pretty cool tech in it compared to some Europeans at a much lower price, parts fitter went to fit a tow bar and brake controller, got a kit for the previous model so probably won't see a tow bar kit for about two months at least, nice too drive on the test drive as well
Very Good Explanation👌
Outstanding review 👏 👌 👍 🙌. Respect 🙏
Man you make the car looks great because of your expression and presentation. Nice bro from first video I subscribed to you
This vehicle impressed me a lot. Well done Kia. U finally nailed it.
Yes, sirreee. cheers Richard
I found this review very entertaining - great presenting. Car looks great too - when I bought my DM3 SantaFe it had it all over the Sorrento - now the Sorrento has the upper hand over the ‘newish’ SantaFe. Would be my pic.
Most likely my next car! I´ve had Ceed and Sportage from kia before and they both had over 500000+km driven on them and everything still worked like a charm. Reliable, good to drive and stylish with a great price. I must also add that I live in a country with a lot of snow and freezing tempetures and the Kia´s had no problem working in tough conditions. How can you beat that?
Ten years ago I wouldn’t even consider a kia to be my last option and here iam now driving an optima and looking forward on getting this one,
Same!!!have had my optima for 2 yrs no complaints and would love this sexy Sorento!
My 2008 Kia Magentis still drives and looks like a new car. Soon to be updating to a new Kia.
Nice review , deserve more subs
Definitely going to get a kia sorrento!
Kia not bringing the Telluride to the Australian market was such a let down but I now see why and boy... they have not let us down 😍😍😍
Great review mate, Im waiting for the PIH being a company car driver. After having decided on the Volvo XC40, this has really turned my head and its a tough decision. It could come down to the badge, but in terms of kerb appeal, this has it in buckets. Cheers
I love my 2006, can’t wait to get a new one
I’ve got a 2015 Sonata and the engine blew up at 42,000 miles despite changing the oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles.
Great review 👏👍🍀
Richard, please compare it with the new Hyundai Pallisade and Toyota Kluger 2021 when they arrive. I look forward to it. You're one of my thrusted reviewers.
Can you imagine the cost to replace that self moving feature when it breaks? Great idea but omg Kia repairs are so expensive already. Pretty car
There is a full hybrid Sorento in Korea... really good mileage too
Very good review 🤟
Great review!! Although the warranty really should be a 10 considering it’s a market leading warranty. I’m really looking forward to your review with the next gen Tucson 👍🏽👍🏽
That's what my wife yelled at me about too! It's hard to give a 10 - something has to be almost perfect and I want Kia to extend the warranty to 10 years. Man, can't wait for the Tucson. Cheers Richard
Yes , I agree, should be a 10
Love the Sorento and good review. The prices are getting a bit on the expensive side comparing to other mainstream manufacturers.
Nice and modern car too
A better Kia Sorento.
Like your style of review. Stay safe.👍💯
Thanks mate. Stay safe too, brother. cheers Richard
Cool review
Good job man 👍
good review
kia sorento so cool i like watching ur videos
Best thing is nice explanation and only one advertisement
Great and interesting review.
Could you please make a comparison video between kia Sorrento and ssangyong rexton. Thanks
I love the ending
Are you getting any mild hybrid or phev versions in Australia? Congrats for a surprisingly funny video on a surprisingly good car!!
Good review
PETER SHREYER FROM AUDI HAS DONE HIS MAGIC
I can see merit if someone has parked you in but other than that you’re parking others in, that said it’s a very nice offering from Kia
Such a fun to watch
I have only just realised how good these new KIA cars are
This vehicle is amazing in KR too
We love it
Diesel engine is good. We love it here in the Philippines. Aside from it, being powerful torque & durable, they last forever. With the proper maintence of course. Kia have lots of interesting line coming out. I like this sorento and the new seltos.
Well Presented by Richard. great value for money. this SUV is a winner. my next SUV will be this one!
Wow! Nice car. And an entertaining review. I want to replace my Honda CR-V and have been looking at the Telluride and the Seltos. I Love The Telluride AWD 3.8 V6 in wolf grey, moss green, or black, but I don’t need a 7-8 seater car and the Seltos is about the right size for my needs/wants. But I find myself wanting this new Sorento cuz it looks so nice inside and out. And for the US, Kia America plans on offering a hybrid 1.6 turbo four with around 230 hp and the new 2.5 turbo 4 with around 290 hp. And I’ve read reviews that the new wet 8 speed DCT is a huge improvement over their old 7 speed dry DCT. And what do you know, the Seltos 1.6 turbo AWD is considered one of the quickest cars in its segment, but is offered only with the old 7 speed dry DCT. I read they made improvements to the 7 speed dry DCT, but I wish it had the new wet 8 speed DCT. Went to the Kia dealer and felt like a kid in a candy store. They had twin turbo Stingers, Tellurides, funky cool Soul turbos, Seltos turbos, new K5 GT-Line, Forte GT, and soon the new Sorento. I couldn’t believe I was lusting after so many new cars at one dealership. A Kia dealership, no less. All with reasonable prices and great warranties. Over the last 20 yrs I have bought 3 new MBs, 2 new BMWs, and 1 new Honda. My next new car will probably be a Telluride or new Sorento. The new K5 is shockingly nice and the Kona N will undoubtedly blow my socks off, but at almost 50 yrs of age, I have been spoiled by the easy ingress/egress of a compact CUV.
The intro cracked me up! 🤣🤣🤣
Ha! Thanks Richard
Awesome car
When you guys going to do the new Honda CR-V ?
I'm tossing up between these two cars
Can you please put this on Facebook, would love to share your review, it’s better than the other reviews that I saw
