I ride to improve/maintain fitness and to get outside and enjoy some local trails. The hills in Seattle are plenty tough if you're not lightweight :). Not much hills in my area, but it'd be fun to do.
Loved this video and your other ones. I already liked climbing, but your video added more to my appreciation. I hope you'll do a video of the "Zoo Hill" climb up Cougar Mtn. It's my favorite climb in the area. It has so much character with varying grades and switchbacks. Be sure to go all the way to the park with the decommissioned Nike missile defense. Squak Mtn climb is also pretty cool.
I live in this neighborhood and if I want to go home I have to climb up that same route. The motivation for me is fear of having my neighbors see me dismounted and pushing my bike.
I grew up where it is flat but I am getting better at hills. I have started to enjoy it for the sense of accomplishment and when I am on my MTB the decent.
I love the diversity in cycling! I guarantee you we'd be best friends as I always need help on the flats. Beautiful via indeed so glad I can fit it in within a 15~mile ride!
@@treyquattro Bwahaha, the question though.... did I start practicing cuz it was fun or because i was fast? Thus the positive feedback loop I was referring too. Definitely related.
What do you think of hills? Did this video make you want to try some more hills? Why do you ride?

@@demiangodon4882 I have special plans for a Zoo Hill video coming up. It was one of the main reasons why I started this channel.
@@BestSideCycling very cool! Looking forward to it
Going up 10% gradient while narrating about why you love climbing is just too much 😂
Hahaha 🤣 yeah I don't know how others would react. But if it gets one person to try a new hill I'm satisfied
Awesome! climbing hills and having a casual chat! Brilliant!
I’m living in the neighborhood too, so have to climb the hill to come back to home. Never thought doing 8x there, you’re amazing.
That view would certainly make the climb worth the effort. Cheers.

Haha yeah... Living on top of a hill is most definite way to get one climbing
What a view!! I was expecting to see your fancy new Brompton going up that hill. 😂 You're a beast!
Oh the new Brompton is coming. Message me on IG we need to ride together
Climbing and speaking, wow you are my hero
I’m a slow climber but I still prefer it to a scary descent. “Risk averse” is the right way to put it.
Agreed hundo p
I like climbing.. after the climb! Not so much during lol. definitely agree with the sense of accomplishment for sure!
This is probably the most sensible and normal answer xD
Like you, I prefer climbing to descending. Nice job.
Haha we do exist! The incline is the best side

Yesss! Haha and it's very easy to see progress with hills especially if it's ones that made you put a foot down. I need to try mtb one day
@@BestSideCycling in that case look at getting an XC bike, since they are good at climbing.
The best part of hills is the descent. Lol
Haha not for meee but I've learned them enjoy them more now that I am more confident in my skills
Great vibes
Most important part of the channel
Went out there and loved it, thanks for the video
Join me more later this summer for hilly group rides!!!
@@BestSideCycling would love to, where will you post the info on that?
@@nickdelnano1366 you can come to my strava club best side cycling
i'm 6'1" 180lbs lol so I like to ride hard on the flats but climbing is definitely more rewarding!
edit: wow that is an incredible view

Wicked fun. Lol. I'm another downhiller , once hit 50 mph down a hill around a corner
Big Hills are the only thing that can make a strong rider period.
Hahaha they are definitely what facilitated my growth!
@@BestSideCycling oh yeah it's like a commitment when the climb starts and the mentality is do or die. Near death, That's how you go super Saiyan
@@timtaylor9590 hahaha 🤣 hyperbolic time chamber except the gradient just keeps going higher
Great video! Can you talk about your bike computer and how it works Thanks
I have a Garmin edge 1040 what kind of things are you looking to know
I think you love hills because you're fast at riding up 'em!
This is probably true... hills get a lot more enjoyable once you're past some threshold of going up them. But there's always someone faster
@@BestSideCycling you're #1 of the local people I follow on Strava up Somerset (& #2 on Somerset Complete), so not that many ;-)

I probably should've asked this on the STP video, but how did you get back to Seattle from Portland after your ride?
The past two years I arranged transport with my family and drove back!
Physics.
Hahaha you do learn a lot about physics while riding a bicycle!
