See Seattle by bike from a state highway! We're taking over southbound SR-99 and the West Seattle Bridge for an early morning spin around Alki and a jaunt south to Fauntleroy. This 20-mile ride offers a car-free experience for the first three and a half miles and takes you past some of the best lookout points and views of the Seattle skyline and Puget Sound's islands.

Did you do the ride this year? Would it do it again next time? What was your first big event? Thanks to menilio from Reddit for the thumbnail photo :)
I was there, got bib 101 to prove it. I’ll try to make it again next year but I’m definitely stopping for donuts next time. My first event in which I had to pry open my wallet was this year’s Chilly Hilly.
Yes! So glad I ran into you at the water stop. I'd definitely do it again next year. As for my first big one, it was 7 Hills of Kirkland back in 2014. I'd love to try that ride again as well.
Yes, saw you briefly at the first donut rest stop while talking with Bobco. Was a cold, windy and wet day. Great video highlighting the event!
The suffering level increasing 😂😂😂 This was such an amazing ride though! Even with the weather being kinda dumpy it was still a great event 😄
Thanks for being an amazing riding buddy and camera man haha
Matt, you were the star of this video and said exactly what I felt on that ride. Hope to see you in more videos!
Your buddies bike setup seems like his seat might need to go up a bit for better power/comfort. Congrats to him for suffering through! 6:02
I enjoyed it, my first big group ride. Will definitely do it again. Managed to squeeze into your video here, pedaling away in my granny gear 😅
I did not find the freeway portion surreal, just felt good. The surreal part for me was seeing so many resources and so much fanfare just to let bikes ride a brief stretch of road in peace.
Saw you at the ride, thank you for documenting this!
It was a lot of fun. I wish I would have looped after the bridge around and did 99 a couple more times. ;-)
Haha one or two more of those loops and you would have been riding with cars. Fun fact... apparently it's not technically illegal to ride on the West Seattle Bridge?! (Someone told me this I did not fully confirm)
I Think more Cities' getting involve on Bike Events ! Nice Vid :)
Woot! I made it into your video! (2:09) for about a second. Thanks for this video. I would like it even if I was not in it.
I wanted to do this ride but wasn't quite ready mentally or physically yet. I broke my arm riding down a hill in the rain in West Seattle a number of years ago and have just been getting back into cycling. I love cycling and always have but have a solid fear of going down hills that are too long or too steep right now. I've slowly been getting better by going down small hills slowly, so maybe if they do this again next year I'll be able to by then. :) Thanks for the video though so I can see how it is!
I'm glad that you're getting back into it. You have a great attitude and definitely take things at your own pace. I called out the handling because it is really important to stay safe and the wet West Seattle hills are no joke! I'm sure you'll be able to do this next year :)
Fun🚴♀
Every day on a bike is fun!
Not gonna lie I kind of love biking uphill in the rain 😂. I was a little disappointed to finish the ride before the rain started.
Haha you too fast this time xD I was just enjoying it
Donuts?? Oh man, we skipped the alki rest stop. Nice video, Hanoch. And nice seeing you.
On a more downer note, we had a fire truck bearing down on us. At 7:09 point a rider was laying face down at that curve. There were ten people with the down rider, so we didn't stop. I really hope he/she would be okay.
Anyway, that was a fun ride.
Haha you're always skipping stops now! That's sad to hear, I unfortunately also saw a couple minor incidents along the way so that's why I wanted to bring up the safety piece. See you next time 🚲
Great to see you out there on the bridge!
Great to finally meet you in person
I hear n see all these races rides I nvr heard about. Where you see your rides at
Looks like you had a grand adventure but what bikes where the two of you riding?
I was riding my winter/commuter road bike and my friend was on a nice cannondale hybrid one :)
Is that the Gore shake dry jacket? How do you like it?
Love it a lot! Legit water proofing material and mine comes with some vents for at least some breathability
Cool, not on the Bromp?
Haha too much camera equipment/ too far plus i don't ride it in heavy rain like this need the disc brakes.
Can you live in Seattle, Renton and Tacoma without a car?
speed limit 50 miles per day, maybe?
Maybe!
