Very ashamed to admit but I spent like 90% of this video saying "Man, Jello's friend sounds a lot like Molly" before finally putting the pieces together and realizing that's "Dani" as in DANI CHAMBERS

By the way, about Cabanela's speech pattern in Japanese version. I actually looked into it and it seems like he uses random English words which I assume is what they localized on him putting certain emphasis on certain syllables.
Also funnily enough, unlike Ace Attorney, Ghost Trick actually seems to take place in Western/English speaking country, as every character seems to have same name in Japanese version, except Kamila being called "Kanon" in Japanese version, and I'm not sure about all minor characters.
Also Sissel's name, when read in Japanese, is a pun on a world "shiseru" which means "being able to die". This reflects on important character we'll towards end of the game who has similar, yet opposite name pun when read in Japanese.
Cabanela doesn't elongate words in Japanese but still says things like "baby", for example (in English, like you said). He's not quite the same in Japanese compared to English, but it's really not far off his tone, for sure. Regarding names I know they made up some of them in English. Bailey doesn't have a name in Japanese for example, he is called 'senpai' when people refer to him. Lynne is similar enough, 'Linne' pronounced 'Lee-neh', Jowd is 'Joord', for example... there are surprisingly few differences and playing the game in Japanese really made me appreciate the English version's translation - it's faithful, and what few changes it does make don't really subtract from Shu Takumi's vision for the game.
You can tell this game takes place in a western setting because everyone has guns.
I'm so glad Dani is now just, a permanent part of the friend group, she's adorable and funny and amazing. :3

Totally agree that the game doesn't need a sequel. But if there was a sequel, I think it would be funny if you have a bunch more rats around, except that all of them have ghost tricks. Because Sissel has spent forever hunting rats and created an army of undead rat ghosts. Not that they would be antagonists or anything, but just have them get in your way, trying to maneuver around their spirits, or occasionally they'll use a ghost trick to get somewhere that will cause a problem for you...
I'm barely 30 mins in and I love this very much. I really love how Jello has the realization "*gasp* THAT'S THE GHOST TRICK" for each twist lmao
Also, Dani's oof at the Lynne death was funnier than it should've been

To those wondering how Kamila couldn't hear the sound of a gunshot, a couple thoughts/theories:
1. Those things look more like *hearing protection* than Bluetooth headphones. Play loud music through those, and you ain't hearin' NOTHIN'
2. It's entirely possible, if not likely, that Tengo's rifle is in .22LR, which is typically a low-power subsonic round (ergo no sonic crack). Why a sniper wouldn't put a silencer/suppressor on a .22 is beyond me, but a full-length barrel would still mean less unburnt powder and therefore less boom. Also, it's kinda hard to fault a Japanese dev team for something like that
I forgot how well written this game was. chat and the 3 of ya’ll who haven’t played this game are in for a real treat, as jello dani and arim have already stated. Can’t wait to see the rest of this!

Man, the timing of this upload was just the most beautiful thing, now that the rerelease was announced.
On what platforms?
This game seems to be (All I've seen of it thus far is this video, I'm still working my way through the playlist) a very good example of worldbuilding like 'This is the way things works' 'Why?' 'Dunno but it sure does work', and done well.
I guess the real "Ghost Trick" was the friends we made along the way
fun fact: the names "nearsighted jeego" and "one step ahead tengo" are references to the words jigoku and tengoku in japanese, which mean "hell" and "heaven" respectively.
After seeing how mad the Investigations games made everyone, it's nice to hear people unironically having a blast.
When I first heard Will voicing the lanp, and then saw Will next to Missile’s icon I thought the lamp’s true form was gonna be Missile and he’d have a super deep voice 😭😭

So I’ve never played this game, but I think I may have figured out the possible twist, or at least one of them.
See, when “Sissle” makes contact with Lynne’s soul for the second time Lynne initially takes the shape of the strange detective who’d been shaking her body, showing that a soul can assume the appearance of someone else if they mistakenly believe themselves to be that person. So I gotta wonder…
Is the main character actually the person known as Sissle? Or are they someone else, perhaps another person who happened to perish in the junkyard that night?
Of course, to add on to this, I also have to wonder if the desk lamp is the true Sissle.
This is assuming, however, that the individual in the red suit we see is actually named Sissle, and that the Blue evil dude with the weird nose was not referring to someone else while just happening to have the man in the red suit on his TV screen.

Coming here just after the announcement of the switch port on today’s Nintendo direct and man do I miss this game. It got me through the shittiest school trip ever when I was in a very bad place mentally. Just wanted to say great to see it getting love from your crew jello.
I found my way here after finishing the switch port. Man, I knew the original game came out on the DS, but I didn't expect it to be THIS pixelated. Loving the voice acting!

Interesting there can be multiple versions of the protag active in the scene, I wonder how many incarnations of the player there can be be in one scene, I'm guessing that might be an advanced "trick" to maneuver a victim into the right place to die to allow a reset to set up additional trick chains to eventually solve the scene.

I'm sorry this is so late after. Ghost Trick is one of my favourite games. For years, I've had to say "I can't say why it's so good" and with the remaster, I can just throw copies at friends and shout "NOW YOU GET TO SEE WHY"
BUT this stream. Hearing the folks that didn't play...it made me realise this game but better.

Love how in 23:12 they accidentally predict/reveal one of the major plot points
Maybe this is Takumi's best game ever made, but it does still have the common problem where for every story beat, at least in the tutorial, not only do we have to wait for the mentor to explain an obvious fact, we then have to sit through the POV character ruminate on how they can actually reach that conclusion on their own if they think about it REALLY hard, and it drags it out at least three times as long as it should take for each point.

It'd be big brain to try and ghost trick your way into talking to the souls of the enemies, just make sure you're disguised and then you can ask them questions about who they work for, and such, while claiming to be able to help them be alive again.

I don't know how well known this is, but Ghost Trick was remastered, but it's been lost to time because it was an iOS exclusive release and its no longer available
It’s no longer available? Then it’s a good thing I bought it a couple years ago.
Funny thing actually: The rerelease was broken for a while as the first „4 Minutes in the past“ segment would get stuck on the starting animation with the clock, as an IOS update broke it. Last year it started working again for some reason.
@Elias Dohm As far as I understand it's no longer available. Last apple product I got tho was an ipod 4th gen so, I'm probably not the best source, but I thought I read on a wiki that it was no longer available
