I’ve just realized that the stupid banana hair is probably like that so “Sissel’s” silhouette looks like a ghostly wisp. You know, cuz they spend the entire game dead in one form or another.
One of my favorite Sissel quotes from replaying the game is his response to the prisoner's guitar. "So this is the thing that was making that horrible noise a second ago. I guess it's a way for this spiky-haired youth to express himself. Sentiments like, "I'm hungry," or "I'm thirsty," maybe... Something primitive like that, I bet..." The foreshadowing...
(Probably around 1 week after Lynne began detective work) Jowd rushing into his home grabbing Sissel Alma “what is it honey?” Jowd “uh nothing, taking the cat to the vet real quick.” (Rushes out) Jowd “Sissel, Lynne died investigating a mugger, I need you to fix her, I’ll take you to her.” Sissel “AGAIN!?”
This is making me Want a Sequel Or at the very least we could take the Concept Of Sissel The Cat Solving mysteries and stopping deaths and turn it into a sick anime or something
Another fun thing is that the title is solidly thanks to Missile. Every other temsik knowers call them "Manipulators", but since Missile doesn't know what that word is and him being a dog, he just calls them little "tricks," making it "Ghost Trick" That was the true Ghost Trick all along
god fucking dammit. i knew he'd been doing it recently with TGAA chapter titles (Return of the Departed Soul, Twisted Karma and His Last Bow, etc) but god damn he's been doing it for a while hahahaha.
The foreshadowing that gets me the most every time I watch this game is Rays surprise that you chose the guitar instead of the wrecking ball in the tutorial: "The guitar, huh?" "I would have prefered the wrecking ball, I bet that would solve the problem real quick (but I guess I cant reach cores too far away.)" He saw Sissel manipulate objects, but he had no way of knowing of Sissel's short range.
7:1553:08 水船, _mizubune_ means "a waterlogged boat", but it can also mean "a coffin". I'm like 80% sure this is part of why Takumi decided to shift settings to a (sinking) submarine, in a Doylist sense. Just to make this "joke". Yes. This really is the kind of thing he'd pull. Seriously.
Something I don't think I've ever seen ppl talk about (spoilers for the finale) Winding back time takes the same amount of time, no matter what. You get a wordless understanding for how long that [Rewind Time] animation lasts. So it means something when, you activate Yomi's core and wind back time so far back, that the clock actually lags/slows/takes 2-3 seconds longer than usual. That's a neat detail for how Different that [Rewind] actually is. Also in the original timeline, Cabanela became Lynne's mentor and used his influence to get Lynne through her exam with less-than-legal methods, so when the game starts she's been a detective for a while. But because Jowd was never arrested in the new timeline, he stayed as Lynne's mentor, training her and mentoring her after repeated exam failures - so because of that, the new timeline's present day has Lynne only just getting her badge, as opposed to having it for sometime before the game's beginning.
Fun fact about the last "Ghost Trick". You start the game attempting to save Lynne by trying to possess your "body", only to fail and let Lynne get killed. You end the game trying to save Lynne, and succeed by possessing your body. That's a Ghost Host Trick, Hee-Hee-Hoo-Hoo
I wonder if the reason why Yomiel’s and Sissel’s Ghost Tricks got stronger was because of their prolonged exposure to Temsik especially because of how varied Sissel’s set of abilities are (manipulating objects, traveling through telephone lines and going back in time). That probably explains why Ray’s powers grow weaker throughout the years rather than becoming stronger like Yomiel
Makes sense, also Missile's longer reach could be because he was exposed to the large chunk rather than the shard although we don't know if Ray's reach is the same as Missile's or what Yomiel's is.
@@Darkfiretiger I think Ray probably has a longer range, as another commenter says he was surprised that in the tutorial Sissel went to the guitar rather than straight for the wrecking ball
I know that "D99" hasn't been mentioned in a couple of episodes but I just wanted Jello and Arim to know that I work as a cashier and now every time I see something ending in 99 cents I hear Arim's suave "D-Ninety-Niiine~" in my head lmao
To be fair to the whole “Eternal loneliness” thing, the best way I can rationalize it is that he was classified dead on paper and so he couldn’t do most things that we could do while being classified dead. He could still socialize, but he couldn’t contribute anything
I love the idea I do have suggestion for the game mechanics for a theoretically sequel sissel’s powers should have changed over the ten years like yomiel’s and missle’s so maybe sissel will have new forms of ghost tricks
After Sissel’s reveal it made me think back to when he first interacts with Lynne directly. Initially she confused herself into thinking she was Inspector Cabanela, then she was corrected. I feel like ghosts confusing their identities was another piece of foreshadowing, that’s exactly what happened to Sissel, him thinking Yomiel’s body was his, not seeing the cat in the bag.
In the same light, you could see Missiles as him fetching an object - and Yomiel's as his skills in coding as "Manipulating Computers" applied to souls.
21:06 They probably just needed to make sure you got back in the flashlight, so you'd fall with Lynne in the cutscene. "The flashlight doesn't work without Sissel" is a simple and easy reason to block progress until you get back in.
Sissle, at least with the searches I did, did mean "She without sight, or without sight". So Sissle possessing a flashlight to let Lynne see kinda is a play on that. But probably for the gameplay to not break.
100%. There are several things like that. Another one is in the prison escape you have to switch to the real world to open the frame to get over to Jowd. They can guarantee you will be there and in the real world so they can then use that opportunity to show you the guards and thus also Jowd's location.
Ooh, while everyone else is sharing their fav Sissel foreshadowings, I wanna contribute. Back when you first visit Lady Rose’s apartment, and you get her to try smacking the mouse with her wine bottle/book w/e there’s an optional Sissel comment along the lines of “she probably thinks rats are something for her to hunt” and adds that he can’t help but fell like he relates to that. When I read that on my 2nd play through I was like :0 !!!
There is early foreshadowing that Sissel is a cat and i fucking love it... When Sissel reaches the Kitchen of the Chicken Kitchen with Lynne the first time he says "So this is the heart of the chicken kitchen" and Lynne corrects him "It's the kitchen, weird i've never seen anyone refer to it that way" Which it's absolutely impossible to catch until a later playthrough as that exactly how a cat would think of the kitchen of a restaurant.
My absolute favorite line in this entire game is "Because that's what doggies do!" I just love that bit so much. Also, re: Sequels that have nothing to do with the first game besides the setting This is _exactly_ what I want for Return of the Obra Din. I don't need to know anymore about the things revealed or how the watch works or anything, but I desperately want to solve a bunch of murder mysteries like that again.
Lynne: Missile, I thought I asked you to stay home and guard the fort? Cabanela: But birthdays are for celebrating together with friends and loved ones! Lynne: Did you break into my apartment and kidnap my dog?
This is one of my favorite games of all time, and hearing y'all read it aloud was an absolute delight. Arim is Sissel's canon voice in my mind now. Also, I never caught the Shroedinger's cat parallel on my own- that's FANTASTIC
@@calemr they could just have it be that Sissel needs you to be in one place and he needs to be at another place at the same time and you two are working together
I think it's rather strange that Sissel has no idea what science is, but at the same time understands the implications of Cabanela altering Lynn's exam scores.
@@mastermarkus5307 well, sissel and missile were as intelligent as humans, just with missing knowledge... so maybe all animal souls are sapient in death. or... always?
If a cat touches fire and gets burnt, they will avoid doing so in the future. They can learn concepts like that, but the real issue is the language barrier which is not a problem for ghosts. A bug would probably not have enough life experience to understand anything outside of their scope of life. But would still be able to speak as a ghost.
21:39 I think the joke here is actually making fun of the people who 'ghost hunt' by mostly unscrewing a flashlight and setting it upright. The heat of the flashlight slightly warps the internal plastic, pushing the cap upwards and breaking the electrical circuit, causing the plastic to rapidly cool, shrink, and restore the circuit. This results in rapid flickering that the ghost hunters interpret as answers to whatever questions they're asking. Hence, asking the actual ghost to turn on a flashlight with contact issues.
AWWWWW, missile is such a good boy! And I actually would like to at least see a sissel reappearance if they ever make a sequel, since sissel being an immortal cat and all.
SPOILER I started to realize what the whole "Ray" deal was at the very end, in the submarine when they all had to work together and they said something like "we just need a small ray of light, of hope" and that phrase slapped me as if it was a fish I guessed sissel was probably a rat too, wrong on that I also guessed ray was a previous version of sissel that got stuck because he didn't have missile, wrong on that too, it was the other way around the time limit, I kept trying to think around it, and it made NO sense, but I refused to believe it was just straight up a lie lmfao
Thank you guys for this amazing playthrough! Your voices were amazing and just perfect for the characters! This is one of my favorite games as well so I was so excited for you guys playing it. I love the style, story, twists and characters. Sissel and Missile being my favorites because I'm simple person who likes animals and their twists are just amazing (also idk they just make me sob thinking about idea of animals loving their owners this much and being well characterized). I also really like Yomiel and think he is fantastically done antagonist and tragic character. Total babygirl material. Fun fact regarding Sissel and Yomiel's names! Sissel's name pronounced in Japanese is "shiseru" which means "to be able to die". In contrast, Yomiel's name pronounced in Japanese is "yomieru" which is pun on the word "yomigaeru", meaning "to be resurrected". I would love Twewy playthrough that was joked about few times during the playthrough but I also get if you won't do it as its gameplay is very different.
That was stellar, thanks folks for sharing that with us, loved it. Props to Will for rolling with the reveal of the grand mastermind. Love that Sissel's interact power is basically him knocking stuff over, also technically Sissel saved 13 people total since with the Meteor event altered additional lives have been saved: the mother, the girlfriend, the assassin and Yomiel. So this little black cat is certainly not bad luck...since now presumably he still has his powers and sentience as he has the mcguffin shard and memories of the manipulated timeline....manipulated by a Pomeranian, I guess you could say that it was all a ghost trick from the start.
It's fitting that Sissel is the one that's able to rewind time and give people a second chance. Cats have nine lives; might as well share the good luck.
I think there is a few ways they can go for a sequel: 1) Brand new game with new characters and a completely different origin/setting for the Ghost Trick 2) Brand new game, new characters/same setting and origin 3) New characters EXCEPT Sissel takes the role of a mentor and thats really it, he has nothing to really do with the plot except to act as the teacher for the new ghost. And to be fair I'd love for the cat to keep appearing cause i can see them doing 9 games to match the 9 cases/lives. He's a cat that permanently stuck as a kitten as both alive and dead so its safe to say he's gonna be here for...awhile. LOL 4) Murder Mystery adventures of Sissel and Lynn but Lynn is written more competently. ' This was a cool games and I literally cried once I put together who the voice of ray was.Their are so many puns and japanese wordplay in this game its beautiful. This was fun to watch, thankyou.
They could also probably find a way to NO SPOILERS for the first game in that way that the Ace Attorney games love to do. They could say Sissel the cat was named after "That Person" and leave it at that
Ghost Trick actually has the perfect setup for a different story separate from the cast and their ending. in the original timeline, Sissel leaves and likely never finds any leads to the murder and would just spend his eternity wafting about. You could totally have Punished Sissel take the role of Ray and tutorial another ghost. With the plot of the Temsik meteor in the possession of the Blue Man Group, they can totally create characters like Yomiel that can catch you in the act.
When I first played the game and got to the end, before the Missle twist, I thought "WHAT ABOUT THE RED LAMP, DON'T GO BACK YET" and I got the answer. kind of strange that he was there too, also he could have reviled him self earlier and help with the 10 years back thing, like you get to the control room and you see another flame and he reveals himself. Than that segment would have even more ghosts to use not just Yomiel also the conversation, like the others just stand back and let the cat and old dog talk alone.
I mean Ray mentions his powers have grown weaker, which is likely what happens to Ghosts that aren't directly affected by Temsik like Yomiel and likely new timeline Sissel. He also mentions it took almost all his powers to come at the junkyard at beginning of the game. Game also implies that Ray's powers grow very weak to the point of his spirit almost vanishing after Missile of this timeline gets his powers. You can visit Ray at junkyard during the game for hints and commentary on story progress, but he starts becoming way more quiet after Missile dies the second time.
Some of the stuff with Jowd that came up earlier feels contrived and annoying, but damn, do I love the last bunch of twists, especially since it's really tough to make a time travel story without plot holes. They make up for the moments with weaker writing just because of how clever they are.
"Ever seen a Newfie use a roundabout?" As someone from Newfoundland I took emotional damage hearing this 'cuz it's so true. We apparently decided as a collective that we can't drive in a circle for some reason.
I’m not as opposed to a ghost trick sequel mainly because of the lack of yomiel use, I wanna see them more :( my blorbos. Like just make a comic or something
I could see a way where they could make a direct sequel without really spoiling anything. They could say that the cat was "named after THAT PERSON" and leave it at that
I absolutely loved this game when it first released, playing through the entire thing on DS on the same day I bought it, but it's hard to play a game centered around mysteries a second time because now you know all of the answers. Watching Jello and friends create this series was exactly what I needed to love this game just as much as that first time. Thank you for this, and best of luck with whatever your next Fully Voice-Acted series turns out to be!
What a journey, funny how I learned the existence of this channel and this cast through a random algorithm that gone "Hey do you like ghost's and funny people?!" - Thanks to that I just binged "Epithet Erased" (maybe that was the ghost trick!), and I'm eager to see/hear more from you guys!
Honestly, I thought Ray was Yomiel, and that Sissel was also Yomiel, which is a theory that only made sense to me because I watched all the episodes of this playthrough in two days and didn't give myself time to theorise enough to notice the very large holes in that theory. The motivation I had in my head was timeline 1 Yomiel persuading timeline 2 Yomiel to make better choices with his ghost powers and ultimately undo the event from ten years ago, but the logic does not follow at all, and I think having Sissel be a cat and Ray be Missile is a far better set of twists anyway
2:20:00 (around the time they talk about a sequel) I can see a DLC for the game, like with Missile not being able to use telephone lines, there can be segments of him going thought town. or with Yomiel and the special cases (the rock band singing secrets and the curry* guy). you will be doing them, that way no need to mess with the story(it's already established plot) and we get to play with Yomiel's/Missile's powers.
So... this is a thing related to my writing but if I were to EVER want anyone to do anything else with the world I've built. I'd want them to NEVER use my main characters outside of 'Oh yeah, they were the heroes/they are the heroes of the world'. Because frankly, I feel like my characters don't either NEED to get involved again or do not need to get involved in this little part. They were made to do this part of the plot and that's it. ESPICALLY when all of the things end. So yeah, I do agree that Ghost Trick doesn't need a sequel or at least doesn't need to use these characters again. As interesting as Sissel is, he's done his part and that's all there is to it. We do not need him to come back. And pro-tip to all of you writers out there; your characters can be interesting and can be used for a plot but they shouldn't be used for everything. They can be used for everything and it can work but when it doesn't, it creates this thing of 'Well what are you gonna do next?' and 'what new power-up are they gonna get for this new threat?' (LOOKING AT YOU DRAGON BALL) which isn't really fun. It can be, don't get me wrong... but it can get stagnant after a bit. But that's just me frankly. I'd honestly be interesting in seeing the same characters get used for a very long plot in different ways, I like seeing things play out in certain ways I guess. So go out there and write! ...Also Sissel being a fucking cat is still hilarious to me. Like that's some off the wall shit that I love.
I'd love a sequel with an all new hero, new cast of characters, little to no recurring ones, because their stories are all wrapped up... Except the villains, who are the blue people again. Get some more closure on their whole deal, maybe find out more about Beauty's psychic powers, properly get a sense of defeating them, perhaps. Could even be set in their country, gives a good reason to not run into the heroes of this game. 'cause as is, Beauty and Dandy blow themselves up, but Commander Sith gets off perfect fine, and with the time rewind, Jeego and Tengo are now completely unharmed again. And this is a band of international... Espionage agents? Mafia types? Terrorists maybe? They could definitely be explored in more detail.
I'm so glad I was able to catch the stream this time despite being at work lol. It was actually tough trying to plate desserts while a dinner rush and laughing at Jello n Crew's jokes.
2:15:28 fun trivia cause not enough people know about this amazing fact: the company Jupiter corporation who Collabed with square enix to create the world ends with you was also involved in the creation of ghost trick
21:33 they make you have sissel turn on the flashlight so that he's *in* the flashlight when lynne throws it, if it wasn't clear. since they need the flashlight to be your starting point for the next leg of the sub escape sequence
honestly, all I'd want to see more from this universe is Yomiel and his fiancee. Cause like, she is obviously super important to him, he names everything after her (though that could just be a combo of him having "love my wife" syndrome and being incredibly unoriginal 💀). I think it's a little weird we see absolutely zilch of her since she's one of Yomiel's main driving factors. I mean, I kinda get it I guess? but really, me wanting to see more of them is probably just cause when I see couples in media that are obviously so in love I latch onto them lol
The mention of Sissel saving 9 different lives I was like “wait, no he saves 10?” But then I realized he didn’t save Kamila! MISSILE DID!!! ALL BY HIMSELF!!!!!
I saw someone suggest a sequel having no recurring characters except perhaps Sissel as a tutorial character. That makes me wonder how this new character got their powers and why Sissel is even there in the first place. Concept: someone dies near Sissel and they get ghost tricks. Sissel offers to save them, but they refuse so they can use their new ghost tricks to help others. Maybe the ultimate conclusion of this game is the protagonist learning to accept their life as it was and letting Sissel save them before they can’t be saved anymore
I don't know where it was said that Ace Attorney and Ghost Trick take place in the same world-- I don't know if it was an official statement or just fan speculation due to both games being written by the same guy-- but I've always found it to be such an amusingly pointless claim, since in my opinion the setting of this game feels WAY different from our beloved Japanifornia. The characters' names aren't even puns, for crying out loud! xP
Sisal is the material used to make most cat scratching posts. Also, Sissle is like Sizzle, and his hair and ghost form look similar to a fire. And in Japanese, "Shiseru", means "to be able to die". Lynne would, in Japanese, be said as Rinne, the Buddhist cycle of rebirth. And she dies a bunch of times. Cabanela's name originates from shikabane, meaning "Corpse". Yomiel comes from yomigaeru, meaning "To revive". Alma means "Lift the spirit", or "Soul". The assassins Jeego and Tengo come from jigoku and tengoku, meaning "hell" and "heaven" respectively. So... Yeah, tons of name puns.
It seemingly is misconception, Shu Takumi said the exact opposite but said crossover of the two games would be fun. Also Ghost Trick, in both versions, takes supposedly place in Western country (likely USA). All characters have western-sounding names that are mostly the same in both versions (only expectations I know are Kamila and Amelie, who still have passable Japanese names to be western). Only character who has Japanese name is Ray, whose name is language based pun. Also while many character names are actually puns when pronounced in Japanese (such as Sissel and Yomiel's) it's confirmed from official JP material such as trailers their names are written in same way as in dub. For example Lynne's name is pronounced "Rinne" in Japane version and while it is actual Japanese name, her name is seen written "Lynne" in Japanese trailers. All names are also in katakana, which implies they're foreign/non-Japanese. Cabanela also constantly uses random English words in his dialogue in JP version, which gives off stereotypical American foreigner vibe seen in anime/manga.
@@calemr I mean, idk if those are really _puns,_ they're just names with meanings that are significant to the game's theme. Lots of stories do that with their character names. Like how the protagonist of Beauty and the Beast is called Belle, which means "beauty". To put it another way: If a psychic character had the name "Basar", which means "sight", "vision", or "the eye", that's just what TV Tropes would call a Meaningful Name. But if his name was "Horace Cope", _that_ would be a pun, because it's a play on the word "horoscope".
There is a ...folklore tale?, mindset?, stories, that say that when a pet loses its life for strange reasons, is because they gave out their lifes to save yours from a possible calamity. Not sure if this stories are the same in other countries, but maybe that is the reason why the pets are the ones with the power to rewind time of death?
The other thing about Ghost Trick inspiring Dual Destinies - Lynne and Athena even look similar! Same colors going on with them, with the red hair and yellow outfit.
Utterly charming game, thanks for that series! Fun and Funnier with your take on it! Was expecting the cat to be "something".. but that last twist? Nope!
I’m SO glad I sat through all of this. The one thing I’d ask though…mechanically is the game fun? The story is DEFINITELY enough to keep me invested but as a puzzle video game is it fun? There seemed to be a lot of moments where you were in a level and stated how annoying / bad it is mechanically.
Thank you so much for this amazing series! I started this game 9 years ago but never finished it because my nintendo DS broke, I was so happy to see somebody who voiced all of it and you guys were great, I had so much fun! I will watch more of your gameplays~:D
21:05 I feel like this is just to set up the next sequence. This game is usually pretty good about being consistent on which core you're possessing between scenes, so continuity-wise this makes it so you wouldn't be at the top on a random valve.
I like how after the temsik fragment is removed from Yomiels body and you enter the ghost world, you can get a glimpse of his body and see that its now a regular corpse with a core
So I figured out Sissle was the cat a ways ahead of time, but I didn't think that the manipulator was possessing the cats body afterwards. I thought they were going to go with a variant of 'cats have nine lives' where dying splits a cats soul and Sissile is the dead fragment. Kinda disappointed they didn't go that way, could have been really interesting.
6:05 shut up I'm acting 7:45 Jello update - hope you feel better 9:30 Rat 19:15 ladder 27:52 "Let's go! 2:11:42 Jello and friends when the guy in a setting where 80% of people are racist is also SoMeHoW racist but capable of learning to be a better person be like: also 2:13:07 Will is one of the best parts of these streams but my god when he doesn't like something he really does just go all in even with little to no info. Shu Takumi didn't even have any involvement in the Miles Edgeworth games, he's only been part of the TGAA games and this one and for the most part they all enjoyed all 3. PWvPL had an unacceptable ending and I will curse Shu Takumi for it forevermore. No seriously, Shu Takumi is a LAZY writer but I wouldn't call him a bad writer.
The ending for PWvPL was more of a Professor Layton problem than a Shu Takumi problem. From what I've heard, the Layton games LOVE to explain everything in a pseudo-scientific way that requires WAY more suspension of disbelief than just "oh, it's magic"
If this game had anything similar to a sequel it would have to be a crossover with early ace attorney... I kinda just wanna see Phoenix try to get out of the paper bag that is this situation
Hard disagree, this would make for a terrible anime. So much of what makes the twists and specific rules work is that it’s an interactive medium. You’re not just told the rules of ghost tricks, you constantly are experiencing them through gameplay, so when something like Missile saving Kamila happens, you’re way more shocked because mechanically it’d be impossible for you to reach either of the things that got switched. This story really only works in the medium it was told in.

Sissel “AGAIN!?”

I love the idea I do have suggestion for the game mechanics for a theoretically sequel sissel’s powers should have changed over the ten years like yomiel’s and missle’s so maybe sissel will have new forms of ghost tricks
GHOST CRIMES! Yes!
Someone should go through and make a list of all variants of "That's the Ghost Trick!" said throughout the series.
This will be worth it
That's the true ghost trick
They would then be able to use a boast trick.
Gonna try and do this along with other reoccurring bits, currently through chapter 1 of the game.
When Sissel’s origin is revealed a cat literally gets out of a bag I hate Shu Takumi
That’s the cat trick.
That’s the ghost kit(ten)
How curiosity killed the cat but satisfaction brought it back.
How dare this comment chain be this philosophical about the main character being a fucking cat
Also... SCHRODINGER'S CAT!
After Sissel’s reveal it made me think back to when he first interacts with Lynne directly. Initially she confused herself into thinking she was Inspector Cabanela, then she was corrected. I feel like ghosts confusing their identities was another piece of foreshadowing, that’s exactly what happened to Sissel, him thinking Yomiel’s body was his, not seeing the cat in the bag.
sissle’s powers is also a reference to him being a cat, because it’s basically a cat knocking a cup off a table
In the same light, you could see Missiles as him fetching an object - and Yomiel's as his skills in coding as "Manipulating Computers" applied to souls.
I haven’t finished the video yet but I thought he was just going to be a rat
I was avoiding the comment section and yet the RUclips app decided to show this to me 😭😭😭
21:06 They probably just needed to make sure you got back in the flashlight, so you'd fall with Lynne in the cutscene.
I think shu takumi should do more supernatural mysteries cause this was a great story
One could argue that Ace Attorney is a supernatural mystery.
@@AncientSodapopLich as in nothing in it could ever happen naturally? Right?
For the 5 people in chat who remember me talking about my shiny Geodude, He is now a very handsome graveler

Btw congrats 🎉
Good for him!
YOU! FROM CHAT! GOOD JOB!!!!
I remember seeing you!! Congrats 🎉
👍
My absolute favorite line in this entire game is "Because that's what doggies do!" I just love that bit so much.
Also, re: Sequels that have nothing to do with the first game besides the setting
This is _exactly_ what I want for Return of the Obra Din. I don't need to know anymore about the things revealed or how the watch works or anything, but I desperately want to solve a bunch of murder mysteries like that again.
What do you think should be the setting for a Return of the Obra Din sequel?
Right up there with the reveal at the end of Unwound Future
Set it inside some sort of murder hotel.
Lynne: Missile, I thought I asked you to stay home and guard the fort?
Cabanela: But birthdays are for celebrating together with friends and loved ones!
Lynne: Did you break into my apartment and kidnap my dog?
“You knooooooow I did, my lovely Lynne. What’s a little B&E if it’s to help friends and family?”
“Wow, we ARE bad cops.”
This is one of my favorite games of all time, and hearing y'all read it aloud was an absolute delight. Arim is Sissel's canon voice in my mind now.
Also, I never caught the Shroedinger's cat parallel on my own- that's FANTASTIC
I think a sequel with only Sissel as your tutorial character guy like another decade later and NO ONE else would work.
Problem is that it immediately raises the question of "Why wouldn't Sissel bring you back?"
@@calemr they could just have it be that Sissel needs you to be in one place and he needs to be at another place at the same time and you two are working together
I think it's rather strange that Sissel has no idea what science is, but at the same time understands the implications of Cabanela altering Lynn's exam scores.
My cat might not understand gravity, but I could see him understanding the systems of corruption in the police force
So Sissel as a cat can't kill mice or bugs now, because anything that dies around a fragment gains ghost powers...
OH NO GHOST RATS
I don't think he can kill mice (or rats) from all of his adventures as a ghost....
(Take what happened to that rat from the Lady Rose' apartment)
I wonder what the upper limit of intelligence is for that, like if bugs are "conscious" enough.
2:11:49 I've only just noticed that when Cabanela enters, the lil kitty is loafing on top of the presents. That's so cute!
2:08:26 i just realized he gave her the badge because he remembered everything she did in the previous timeline
AWWWWW, missile is such a good boy!
And I actually would like to at least see a sissel reappearance if they ever make a sequel, since sissel being an immortal cat and all.
SPOILER
I started to realize what the whole "Ray" deal was
at the very end, in the submarine
when they all had to work together
and they said something like "we just need a small ray of light, of hope"
and that phrase slapped me as if it was a fish
I guessed sissel was probably a rat too, wrong on that
I also guessed ray was a previous version of sissel that got stuck because he didn't have missile, wrong on that too, it was the other way around
the time limit, I kept trying to think around it, and it made NO sense, but I refused to believe it was just straight up a lie lmfao
I think there is a few ways they can go for a sequel:
1) Brand new game with new characters and a completely different origin/setting for the Ghost Trick
2) Brand new game, new characters/same setting and origin
3) New characters EXCEPT Sissel takes the role of a mentor and thats really it, he has nothing to really do with the plot except to act as the teacher for the new ghost. And to be fair I'd love for the cat to keep appearing cause i can see them doing 9 games to match the 9 cases/lives. He's a cat that permanently stuck as a kitten as both alive and dead so its safe to say he's gonna be here for...awhile. LOL
4) Murder Mystery adventures of Sissel and Lynn but Lynn is written more competently.
'
This was a cool games and I literally cried once I put together who the voice of ray was.Their are so many puns and japanese wordplay in this game its beautiful.
When I first played the game and got to the end, before the Missle twist, I thought "WHAT ABOUT THE RED LAMP, DON'T GO BACK YET" and I got the answer.
kind of strange that he was there too, also he could have reviled him self earlier and help with the 10 years back thing,
like you get to the control room and you see another flame and he reveals himself.
Than that segment would have even more ghosts to use not just Yomiel
also the conversation, like the others just stand back and let the cat and old dog talk alone.
OK SO SPOILER WARNING FOR THE END OF THE GAME
The ghost trick was a cat trick the entire time.
Actually a tricked cat.
Me with my cat purring loudly on my chest and a hugest grin on my face, I am glad I didn't get spoiled
Thank you for this, and best of luck with whatever your next Fully Voice-Acted series turns out to be!
and so ends the tale of the indisputable, undeniable goodest boy
I guess you really can teach an old dog new ghost tricks!
I wonder how they'll do that last bit where Sissel jumps down from one screen to another when it comes to switch and PC. Maybe it'll just pan down.
just do what were don in the ios version
@@IdzeLemon
Never seen that version, what did they do?
Honestly, I thought Ray was Yomiel, and that Sissel was also Yomiel, which is a theory that only made sense to me because I watched all the episodes of this playthrough in two days and didn't give myself time to theorise enough to notice the very large holes in that theory. The motivation I had in my head was timeline 1 Yomiel persuading timeline 2 Yomiel to make better choices with his ghost powers and ultimately undo the event from ten years ago, but the logic does not follow at all, and I think having Sissel be a cat and Ray be Missile is a far better set of twists anyway
2:20:00 (around the time they talk about a sequel)
I can see a DLC for the game,
like with Missile not being able to use telephone lines, there can be segments of him going thought town.
or with Yomiel and the special cases (the rock band singing secrets and the curry* guy).
you will be doing them, that way no need to mess with the story(it's already established plot) and we get to play with Yomiel's/Missile's powers.
Replace "ramen" with "curry"
I’ve played this game a couple times before and I think watching this play through has made me cry the most so far
So... this is a thing related to my writing but if I were to EVER want anyone to do anything else with the world I've built.
I will rewatch over and over, I jus love this, this is the perfect breather from the anxiety that plagues my life.
To quote Troll 2, "OH MY GGGGGOOOOODDDDD!" Missile is such a good boy 🐕🙏
beauty is probably psychic so she can watch out for the red man's ghost tricks
I'm so glad I was able to catch the stream this time despite being at work lol. It was actually tough trying to plate desserts while a dinner rush and laughing at Jello n Crew's jokes.
Ever since there was an hour left I just couldn’t stop crying- this game fucking rules and will mentally destroy me for years to come 10/10
2:15:28 fun trivia cause not enough people know about this amazing fact: the company Jupiter corporation who Collabed with square enix to create the world ends with you was also involved in the creation of ghost trick
That explains the similarities in the artstyle…
At the end of the game before the final twist, I thought it was over and was *yelling* at the screen 'WHO THE FUCK WAS RAY?'
Can't wait for the archers only run!
I guess the real Ghost trick was the friends we made along the way
Also time travel …
I saw someone suggest a sequel having no recurring characters except perhaps Sissel as a tutorial character. That makes me wonder how this new character got their powers and why Sissel is even there in the first place. Concept: someone dies near Sissel and they get ghost tricks. Sissel offers to save them, but they refuse so they can use their new ghost tricks to help others. Maybe the ultimate conclusion of this game is the protagonist learning to accept their life as it was and letting Sissel save them before they can’t be saved anymore
This was really fun to watch with everyone!
Thank you so much for doing this voiceover-through, I really loved experiencing this game through you all. This was quite the fun journey!
the real reason the blue British guys were trying to steal the Temsik was to put it in the British Museum!
There is a ...folklore tale?, mindset?, stories, that say that when a pet loses its life for strange reasons, is because they gave out their lifes to save yours from a possible calamity. Not sure if this stories are the same in other countries, but maybe that is the reason why the pets are the ones with the power to rewind time of death?
i had to wait until the vod was out because i caught the stream late and wanted to be there for it in full, but boy did that ghost trick
Huh… now I don’t know what Jello Streams to watch now.

2:09:20 i wouldn't be suprised if sissel played church in pet semetary THATS THE REAL GHOST TRICK.

The other thing about Ghost Trick inspiring Dual Destinies - Lynne and Athena even look similar! Same colors going on with them, with the red hair and yellow outfit.
“So here I am, not quite a man. But I’ve always got a game plan. I’ll ruffle feathers, f*** with folks, but you know me, I’m a good bloke!”
Utterly charming game, thanks for that series! Fun and Funnier with your take on it! Was expecting the cat to be "something".. but that last twist? Nope!
The animations in this game is awesome!
“Ever seen a Newfie use a roundabout?” Yes. Every day. My Dad is one and he drives me to work lol.
Sissel's original body... was a human being!
unless it was that cat
its a human or a cat!
was this a reference to Miles is a robot?
if yes?
good job.
This explains sissel's wrath against rats
I’m SO glad I sat through all of this. The one thing I’d ask though…mechanically is the game fun? The story is DEFINITELY enough to keep me invested but as a puzzle video game is it fun? There seemed to be a lot of moments where you were in a level and stated how annoying / bad it is mechanically.
Oh, the mechanics feel great, it's just that some of the level designs are weaker than others :)
Oof, The Submarine episode came just a few months before... the incident...
Ough the endings where the future changed etc etc always get me. PMD Don't Ever Forget moment
this really will be the final ghost trick
I loved this game and luckily I have memory issues so I’m going to buy the game on switch
So I figured out Sissle was the cat a ways ahead of time, but I didn't think that the manipulator was possessing the cats body afterwards. I thought they were going to go with a variant of 'cats have nine lives' where dying splits a cats soul and Sissile is the dead fragment. Kinda disappointed they didn't go that way, could have been really interesting.

also 2:13:07 Will is one of the best parts of these streams but my god when he doesn't like something he really does just go all in even with little to no info.
11:58 I legitimately can't believe I was able to do this first try in my playthrough-- I can't remember if it was me being smart or sheer dumb luck
This truly was, a Ghost Trick
This wood be a great anime
Hard disagree, this would make for a terrible anime. So much of what makes the twists and specific rules work is that it’s an interactive medium. You’re not just told the rules of ghost tricks, you constantly are experiencing them through gameplay, so when something like Missile saving Kamila happens, you’re way more shocked because mechanically it’d be impossible for you to reach either of the things that got switched. This story really only works in the medium it was told in.
