7 Movie Ideas Too Awesome To Actually Get Made
We need a detective show starring Dan where he solves all the crimes using his knowledge of movie and tv tropes. Like he's the only one aware that he's in a fictional world.
I would watch that.
So just like a really self conscious awkward dead pool with glasses. I love Dan
Ocpd P.D.
Heck yeah.
Isn't that just Deadpool without swords?
I would watch the shit outta that.
Swaim = Surely Was An Individual MIssing
bub yacobozzi don't call me shirley
That was a loooong callback. Well done!
bub yacobozzi Severly worrying absense in Michael
I would so watch that "Ministry of Ungentlemanly warfare" movie.
There could be franchise of Ungentlemanly Warfar as the continued into and after the war. Christopher Lee joined them
It's a perfect title
emily collins
They need to have who ever playing that character say that line "I'm all fucked out." word for word.
@David Mac EWAN MCGREGOR! It must either be him or Colin Firth... just the classiest of gentlemen saying the line, just like in the old war movies where they are holding a glass of water, staring longingly out of a rainy day window with a tear in his eye... and either one of them would just nail it.
The lobotomy pitch sounds like it would make an excellent Netflix show!
Didn't these dummies lobotomise JFK's sister Rose? She was a troubled youth, but ended up in care for life! Great stuff!
It's already on Amazon Video, "Lore", Season 1, episode 2, called "Echoes". Interesting that you brought this up, because it's an intriguing story. Strange I watched you bring it up about a week after I watched it...
Turns out jfk wasn’t shot by a secret service guy, if you put video of jfk when he was shot in super slow motion you can catch a glimpse of the labotimobile rolling up and the “surgeon” labotomises the shit outta his skull
Of course Soren gets two rounds of applause
His pitch was definitely the best.
He had the best idea. A true dark comedy.
Gavin Drake Well he's a prince you know?
You'd pitch a tent twice for him don't even lie
Gavin Drake for one sec i read your comment as sauron 😂😂😂
"I've lost the crowd, Jack." - funniest thing I've seen all year.
I just realized that I never knew Katie's last name.
CountArtha I only know the other's last names cause they're in a lot of sketches, Katie is like only in after hours
CountArtha I believe there was one specific episode where Dan reffered to her as Willert.
same!
At the end of a lot of other After Hours the other Katie comes in and talks about how everyone mixes up her with Katie Wilburt, that's the only reason why I know her last name.
CountArtha I looked it up to see if she ever posed nude but there are only some stand up clips that have hit and miss jokes.
Their boss seems so wired and nervous. I just want one of them to hold his hand and tell him its ok.
Jack usually seems more comfortable in front of crowds. This was weird. I wonder if the subject matter was particularly difficult for him. JFK assassination is always a touchy subject. So many conspiracy theorists.
He's cracked, duh.
I thought the same thing. He was trembling and then his mouth got so dry the sounds his mouth made were distracting.
Yeah. At first it just looks like he's a bit nervous, standard stage freight... But he's still shaking to the point were he looks sick 20 minutes in, and he's not even talking. Also, when he's actually talking, he sounds fine, its not like he's stuttering or being awkward.
Isn't this right before he left/got another job and everyone else on stage got fired? If he seems tweaked and nervous, it could damn well be he actually is for fear of his job.
Also the podcast, he talks in this manner often, could just be how he's wired
it's not after hours without Swaim
Plot twist: he's in the audience.
plot twist, he was never there... he is a ghost! He died in the first episode.
+
Plot twist, Swaim got fat and don't give a care.
Eh, he interrupts too much on podcasts.
Assisted Living Final Destination would be amazing. *Kubrick zoom on deadly Werther's Original.*
I was 😂 after he said, "They didn't get on the bus going to the zoo or whatever..."
Fighting Aliens with machetes for 20 years? I kinda wanna see that now
Except, instead of humans with machetes. it's clever teddy bears with spears and slings, and George Lucas could direct it.
Samuel K. Addai I'm willing to bet the idea got bandied around, but once the logistics of African warlords came into it, and that it would probably be brainwashed child soldiers fighting the aliens, they promptly backed off that idea.
"We got sort of a formal invitation from Japan". God damn I love these Cracked videos.
Was Swaim too busy making cameos in Chappelle shows?
Eli Martin I knew I saw him
Eli Martin which sketch?
Eli Martin his latest netflix specials. michael is seen in the crowd laughing at one of the top punchlines of that first of those two gigs. the first is great, but swaim is really shown on one of the Highlights! ^^ go watch it, you can't really miss him
it was almost distracting. Once I saw him I could swear I heard his laugh throughout the rest of the show.
hahah i forgot i saw his ass in the crowd..got a closeup too
I love these comments, like Jack basically gives a pretty interesting theory about the JFK assassination and every comment is basically saying how it's not After Hours without Swaim, which is true in away, but guys I think you're kind of burying the lead on the JFK thing.
Nadodan My thoughts exactly
Nadodan As far as conspiracy theories go, JFK shot by a clumsy Secret Service makes a lot more sense than pretty much any other JFK conspiracy theory. My only problem with it is why cover it up? Sure it's kind of scary to think that one of the president's own bodyguards shot him but it's not a whole lot worse than seeing the president assassinated. It would help to feed many more conspiracy theories. But ultimately, I don't see much point in covering it up.
Roberto Castillo To keep that guy from having his life destroyed, despite the fact that JFK had his spine severed and would have likely died anyway, or, if not died, been a vegetable, and that, in any other circumstance, such a thing would end up having little in the way of consequences due yup its accidental nature.
That man, in spite of all that, would have never found peace had they come out and said 'this guy fucked up, that was the third shot, but JFK was already basically dead and he feels awful'.
JFK theories are always dull.
Yeah but if he just did a little bit of research he'd of realized that theory is fake. There's literally footage of the Secret Service agent at the moment of the fatal shot and he didn't even have his gun raised lol
If "The Spy Who Shagged Me" wasn't already taken lol
One Fools Logic +
I ant to see "Lobotomobile: a new American musical!"
Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Make it happen, Simon Pegg!
Along with Martin Freeman, Jude Law, maybe Tim Roth, and Timothy Dalton.
@@andrebrynkus2055 just came back to this video because they're now releasing a movie with Jude Law about the ministry of ungentlemanly warfare
I honestly never get tired of Dan saying, "Do we have a clip?" and variations thereof.
I adore Katie so much. I love her delivery, I love her voice. She is so damn funny.
She has impeccable timing too. The others have a hard time following the rhythm of the audience, but she didn't skip a beat.
she is my go to defence when people claim that women can't be funny
Zana Kate You shouldn't interact with such people. But more to the point: 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, Gilmore Girls? :D
she's really not that funny. Tina Fey would be a much better example.
In this video?? Dan and Soren were on point with the crowd, Katie wasn't nearly as cringy as Jack but she wasn't all that good.
Don't skip this just because Swaim is missing! It's still funny as fuck!
And weirdly educational.
Jack Obrien weighs it down like a boat anchor.
DOB has such strong stage presence, its kind of a loss that he only works as a writer now
Is Micheal not there because he is at the new Dave Chappelle stand up special?
Obligatory no Swaim comment, but you knew it was coming.
Great stuff guys, while the JFK piece was really interesting my favorite was definitely Soren's. So simple, so good.
"Get your head out of the clouds Jack, it was time travel!"
Well, Umbrella Academy pretty much confirmed that.
The Irregulars NEEDS to be a dark comedy NOW!
That end bit is great cause Dan just puts Soren on the spot unexpectedly for no reason and his reaction is so good
i would watch the fuck outta that final destination movie
This was my favorite show for years and years. Thank you all who helped write and create it.
stop hatin on my boy Jack!!I love me some Swaim too but ill accept this too
"If we can't get Iron Man, let's get Batman, but, like, the WORST Batman."
TheOtakuX Hahaha 😁
Really?!
Val Kilmer!
awe no Michael Swaim. He's my favorite. But I love them all... but Michael is one of my favorite comedy minds. :)
I know anxiety attacks when i see's em, and Jack was definitely having one up on stage. I felt so bad for him, but he pulled through and dealt with it like a champ :)
I didn't notice this while watching this originally but reading this comment i can totally see it now
I’m curious; when did it begin and when did he “pull through”?
Don't call it After Hours if there is no Swaim
Literally unwatchable.
Really? That is surprising. I loved this.
Out of everyone in Cracked, I'm glad it was Jack though.
BigFrakkinOgre it's like saying it's an episode of cracked TV and all you get is tosh.0 but with clipy
Three Quarters After..?
all of these pitches were great. As a filmmaker, thanks for giving me decades of ideas
itsJrodTV unrelated.
I'm an actor....
unrelated.
I'm a writer....
Unrelated I can direct this
Good luck!
Cant Wait to See you guys at C2E2 tomorrow!!!!
Be sure to say hi!
"But Dan" One might say, "They already made the movie about toys fighting for civil rights. It was Ted 2..."
_The Irregulars_, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, and Charles Dance. MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Maybe Disney can do Christopher Lee in CGI now that that's a thing.
CountArtha I genuinely want Micheal Cera to olay Dahl
Please leave chris alone
I would watch the shit out of the lobotomy movie
Vicky Green I think he got some of the facts wrong. I recently wrote a research paper about the lobotomy and its not quite as goofy and fun as he made it seen
bonk bonk bonk lol
Well, I'm curious myself now. Because he said the one guy was a legit doctor and did the operations properly and the other guy was just driving around, selling snake oil and putting ice picks in people's heads. If it was as bad as he made it sound, I can pretty much imagine that Dr. Loony and his Lobotomobile might have been just that zany. I'm even more intrigued now.
Amazon Video has a show running right now (Nov. 2017) called "Lore" and Season 1, episode 2, called "Echoes" is this story.
First time listening, the lobotomy idea and the Irregulars idea are the best ones mentioned! and the lobotomy movie would be a great dark psuedo comedy if it was directed by Yorgos Lanthimos director of The Lobster or Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert behind Swiss Army Man. The Irregulars movie would be absolutely amazing if directed by Guy Ritchie.
I really enjoyed this long format of the show.
Toy Story 4: Plastic Vasquez
Wow...
Jack, I feel your pain. it's ok I can't do public speaking either.
A half hour after hours? Oh you are to gracious.
I mean, if it were a normal after hours I'd agree, but I'm not a fan of a live version, nor of one wherein Swaim is swapped out in favor of Jack O'Brien.
It wasn't bad by any means, but in my mind that wasn't a true After Hours.
too*
It's nice to hear Daniel speaking like a real person without that exaggerated staccato thing he does in the studio videos.
I want to see the old people version of 21 Jump Street. Can you imagine? Two 75-year-old cops go undercover to a retirement home to bust an illegal drug ring operation and stop a better, more effective black market version of Viagra from killing its users. My dream cast for this movie: Jack Nicholson, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, Al Pacino, Samuel L. Jackson, Goldie Hawn, Susan Sarandon, and of course, Betty White as the unexpected villain and head of the Viagra mafia. It would be funnier if she was also a secret pimp, I'm just saying...
Where's Keith Richards in this cast?
@@hickorymccay2994 he is the red herring villain
Damn. The pay off on the JFK thing was amazing.
So swaims the best right? I mean dan and the rest do great. But swaim is basically poetry in motion right? Comedic genius.
Jacob Franklin Well I like Dan the best but Swaim is great too
Jacob Franklin Swaim's Cracked TV is what got me into the Cracked channel. When he leaves so do I.
Tough for me to say he's the best but I agree on comedic genius.
Nah man, Daniel is my favorite. Swaim takes the second spot.
[Witty RUclips name] obsessive pop culture is probably my 2nd favorite format. Escort missions and finally spit take. But after hours is the money maker
"I'v lost the crowd Jack"
LMAO
I think it'd be awesome if someone made a movie about Simo Häyhä (The White Death). He was a Finnish sniper that killed over 500 people.
And survived a headshot
This should be how they do all of these live podcasts. This group is 1000x better than the other randoms they bring on.
This is more like During Hours
No Swaim, no script, no restaurant
I never noticed what a pleasant voice Katie has before this. Great fun.
... I've lost the crowd, Jack!
Afterhours is the only reason I'm still subscribed to CRACKED. Please keep up the good work with Afterhours.
The lobotomy thing and the jfk movies NEED to happen
Ron Josh Ytem Don't forget the final destination one! The twist has me hooked. It's a shame it won't happen though.
2:24 There's a reason Jack's show on Cracked is called "The Spit Take"
Where's my Swaim at?
Out of town. He missed you very much.
Why would he miss this? Or better yet, if you guys knew he would be out of town, why didn't you reschedule?
AmatMiguel Life happens. You'll be okay. What if I told you these live preformances probably have a better ROI than RUclips videos? They are a comedy channel.
I get it, but still, it seems like something that was easily remedied.
Also, what's ROI?
Return On Investment, those people in the audience paid an entry fee. You have Ad Blocker on. You are not the target audience, something trolls and commentors on Cracked videos just can't seem to wrap their head around.
Then again they are a vocal minority.
I think the Coen Bros would make that lobotomy story so well. It's squarely in their nihilistic, darkly comedic wheelhouse.
I'd love sorens dope ip as a tv show
I almost spit my drink out like 4 times. Soren just ripping the lobotomy one lmfao... Funny as always guys!
O'Brien taking the place of micheal is like when Rocky got hurt in power rangers turbo and someone had to replace him.
Hayden Singleton that was Rocky not billy.
Dave Blair oops, my bad
So glad I got to see this live. While I missed Michael, it was a blast.
I could so see that lobotomy movie being directed by Martin McDonagh
word
Turns out jfk wasn’t shot by a secret service guy, if you put video of jfk when he was shot in super slow motion you can catch a glimpse of the labotimobile rolling up and the “surgeon” labotomises the shit outta his skull
Brilliant! That’s exactly the kind of man who would make that film.
That was surprisingly good. It hung a bit when they individually explained their Dope IPs, but it picked back up when they started riffing on each other.
Daniel's "The Lobotomobile" should star Simon Pegg, and make it a comedy much in the same way that he and Andy Serkis did "Burke and Hare"
just started and Katie is seriously killing it onstage ☺
This feels less like after hours and more like a different more traditional podcast like format for the cracked live podcast, which I'm down for, hope they try it again.
Sean H without Jack
Whoa Soren with the prediction on the new Guy Ritchie/Cavil movie.
Who ever made The Lobster could make that lobotomy movie.
Just was finishing a watch-through of all the After Hours and it was serendipitous that I watched this today, the release date of The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare
I love Katie's hair
she looks like a grandmother
Why is NO ONE talking about this JFK thing! That was the best one.
I like that there was a longer After Hours, but it's not the same without Micheal.
Summer H and no restaurant
Yeah, that's true.
The true story of Mad Jack Churchill, a WWII British commando who's awesomeness and badassery puts all fictional "action heroes to shame.
Part of what makes after hours so good is the dynamic between the performers and Jack doesn't fit like Michael. He's fine, but it's not after hours at that point. Also, aliens is Michael's go-to.
I god damn love Katie in this episode with the headshot motions lol
The assassination of Franz Ferdinand would make a great dark comedy.
thegreatmoustachio How come?
A bunch of people kept trying to assassinate the arch duke throughout the day in increasingly outlandish ways, but kept failing. In the end one of the assassins was walking down the street and just happened to run across the arch duke, so he shot him a couple times. The movie could take all of this and make it into a kind of slapstick, dark comedy.
thegreatmoustachio True dat.
thegreatmoustachio I would watch that but only if the members of the band Franz Ferdinand played the failed assassins.
Christopher Lee was an DUW member - there was a wonderful quote he gave to Peter Jackson about a Saruman scene with Wormtongue "That's not the noise a man makes when he's stabbed in the back. It's more like 'ugh' - the air goes out of them."
Waaaaaah this was agonizing. If Swaim couldn't be there, then it should've been left to Dan, Soren and Katie. They have the rapport and don't appear to be so nervous without a script.
I love that they upload these live events! It would be awesome to attend one, but alas, up here in the great white north I can only get the next best thing.
*Spoiler Alert:*
Kennedy killed himself using time travel.
That would create a time paradox.
Was that Outer Limits?
artistwithouttalent like Bruce Willis and JGL?
Saw that comment and waited the whole video for Jack to pitch this concept.
That was the plot of a Red Dwarf episode.
I never realized it until now. Michael is the one that makes this show. Where are you Michael! Come back.
Jason McCabe I think this was supposed to be a combination podcast ep, after hours ep, and celebration of how dope after hours is which is definitely true. WOULD have been better with swaim for full effect, but you would still need Jack to run the podcast. This is a cool glimpse at who they actually are though. soren is secretly awkward, dan is adjusted, Katie is quick witted and clever, and Michael in other podcasts is actually crazy smart
This still would have been 100% better with Swain.
I don't feel like there was enough Katie.
I'd thoroughly enjoy it if all your podcasts had this format. hella great time
they're sitting in the wrong spots.
gotta switch Katy and Not-Michael and also switch Soren and Dan. it's messing with me.
This is my go to "feel better" website. I've been watching older shows-catching up. Wonderful.
"I am all fucked out"
Me:HAHAHA
The birth of the ‘Soren had something he wanted to say’ bit?
that JFK movie idea, someone make that.
Carl Deaton fine I'll try just need the money
Part of what makes after hours good is the fantasy of it. This is just you guys talking.
Oh god....listening to Jack try to explain things about firearms was so painful.
PhlyanPan So much incorrect information. It was so bad. Slow bullets?
AscendantJustice And he claims the guy writing the book is an expert. Yeah ok.
Yeah he doesn't know shit the secret service would not have an ar15 in 1963.
agreed, he knew nothing about the topic, yet continued to parrot the bs lies from the MSM and Hollywood.
So painful to listen to. If there is anything to that theory, he butchered it.
the world needs more Katie!
I was liking this video (even with the absence of Swaim) right up until the JKF ballistics jargon. I'm like 90% certain the Secret Service wasn't issuing AR-15's in 1963. The M16 entered service in the military in 1964. So I'm thinking this guy is thinking of a different gun but got mixed up and confused with modern anti-gun bullshit that he's heard. Like two small cars filled with somewhat related information collided inside his head and this is what he could piece together from the wreckage.
If you want a "dope IP" for television, "The Belgariad" series would be a fantastic (no pun intended) choice to fill the epic fantasy void we'll all experience when "Game of Thrones" goes off the air. It's been a favorite of mine since I was a boy. I don't know if HBO would want to run it, though, since there aren't that many bare breasts involved, but the special effects budget would likely be lower since dragons don't usually show up until much later in the series.
PaperbackWizard And they could follow up with The Mallorean and my life would just be complete.
Damn- Katie is awesome...
@7:00
TOYETICA!! It's a comic series coming out that explores that idea: the world acknowledges toys are alive and have rights, specifically marketing rights for their appearance and abilities. The toy creatures have since created a celebrity culture around marketing themselves, and a society around competing to become THE most popular toy in the human world.
While I think Jack talked a little too much (sorry Jack, but I missed Michael). I would like to see these After Hours too. Like the ones you do at the expos. Other than that thank you for another After Hours!!
Related to The Irregulars, check out the book Double Cross, about the double agents the Allies had in place leading up to D-Day. The cast of real-life characters are straight out of a screenplay, they're so eccentric and their lives so extraordinary.
Lobotomobile: The Musical
At 20:12 when the audience realizes Jack doesn't know WTF he's talking about.
