200m into the race
“They are on world record pace”
i mean they weren't wrong lol
It's important, most teack wr ate run at a consistent split. To start on pace is VITAL.
@@sorrym8421 most distance world records weren't even splits, marathon wr is negative splits, same with kenenisas 5000m, 3000m world record was led out fast and slowed down just like galen, consistent splits are not necessary for a world record, a good time? maybe, a world record? doesn't matter as long as you have the mental strength and physical strength to accomplish it.
@@DrReddit That's total nonsense. Every world record was run with almost perfectly even splits, especially the events you just listed. They run even splits the whole race and then sprint as fast as they can the last lap. Every world record is even splits the whole race and a bit faster for the last lap.
Fine Wine Daily “almost perfectly” none of those were close to being perfect even splits, at all, do you even know the splits? 2 seconds between splits are a huge margin, especially running at a pace that’s elite, it’s not nonsense, it’s you being delusional, many records were set with even splits, many were not
Some professional rabbiting right there. I hope Rupp at least bought them all a beer.
Angelo Monsieurs 💀😭😂
He was way too young to buy them beers

Damn hard job

Literally sub 8 min pace nearly the entire race

The last pacer appeared like he could've went for the world record himself!
That pacer was 🔥. Never seen a 4-minute 1600 look so formulaic
That Pacer though
:y he must be a fucking 1 mile beast he looked pretty comfortable

Anybody who's ever been a runner knows how amazing that is 8:07 for 2 MI wow
I can't do a mile in 8 minutes.
Dude I can’t get out of bed in 8 minutes
Mom: "we leave in 10 mnutes!"
Galen Rupp: cool lemme just break an American record
@@stevenfriedman143 😂😂😂
I’m a runner and I took like 2 hours to get out of bed rn
officer Earl Kipchoge could run a marathon in that time
I watch this as motivation when I'm nervous before my races.

I like how the dudes that were also on the track all ran sub 9 besides one. People don’t understand how hard that is.
I just ran a 10:49 and i thought that was tough. A sub 10 is still impressive
and high schoolers are doing that!
Man it’s been just 3 years but now every person at the high school Arcadia invitational broke 9 minutes in the 3200 except one
Respect to the guy running out in lane 3 to make sure not to disrupt the pace of the leaders 👍🏼
Imagine running a 9:13 and getting last
I would imagine id feel hopeless

Not bad, two miles to the marathon-quite a range.
Also with a 3:50 mile. He is a beast.
@Kai Smithley Are you sure he isn't Kenyan?
Unbelievable! Back to back 4:03 miles, beyond my comprehension.
I can do that, it's just my bike broke 😂
I did it in hs 4:00 twice
The world record is epic

and I'm happy to run one mile in 8 minutes lolol

10:36 PR for me in the 2 mile. That was 20 years ago. If I break 13 minutes it's a good day now 😂 This guy was a beast.
10:36 is pretty good, nothing to laugh at.

Immense shame that Nike and Salazar have thrown speculation and doubt into events like this.
What do you mean?
Its called unlawful PED's and Illegal drug use.
@@benjaminvuchetich1990 I know this is old but Rupp was with the Oregon project which was shut down due to doping. The Oregon project was run by Nike and coached by Salazar

Thats still a great 2 mile
False.
It's actually exactly my 2 mile pr lol

I kinda forgot there were other people in this race
Amazing running by galin. Also amazing commentating. These guys did really well
And to think that Daniel Komen's wr of 7:58.61 would have beat Galen by 90 yards. Reflect on THAT!!
Nah. Lol. Indoor is almost the same as outdoor because the turns are all banked. If Galen could really break 8:00 outdoors, he would have done it already.
+Avril Lavigne I’d love for you to explain why somehow all the outdoor records are faster than the indoor ones even with banked tracks?
Was Komen running indoors in that record? Not that I think Rupp could beat Komen.About the ONLY thing I see separating Rupp from being able to beat the Africans is the beast mode sprint they bring to the end of their races. To be sure Rupp has speed but that's PACE SPEED and the Africans even kick off of that tremendous pace.He withers most men off with tremendous pace but this is where the real test is of the greatest runners on earth. They have the ability to seemingly "translate" themselves in the worlds or olympics meets.
@@paultoy9611 like kenenisa bekele 3:58 mile at the end of a 5000m final at the Olympics in bejijng. That race will always be legendary
And now this man is going to get the American record in the Marathon...what an amazing runner
I know Galen can break the WR I have seen him do 6×1 mile repeats at 4:00 minute mile pace with ONLY 1 MINUTE OF REST IN BETWEEN INTERVALS!!!!
Actually I meant to write that they were all sub 4:10 but his last 3 repeats were all under 4:05
+Francisco Cornejo. try searching that on flotrack
+Francisco Cornejo I think he has a good chance of going for the Gold to be honest. I'm actually really surprised that he didn't take the silver or Gold in the 10000 meters.
He still needs to roid up his game just a little more though
I'm sure Galen Rupp's 2016 Olympic Bronze Medal marathon performance will help him get faster and stronger for 2017
What I love about Rupp is his humility. The man has rocked the American track scene as well as world and is so damn humble. God bless him and his recovery.
The pacer dude almost made a 4 minute mile, damn!
How could anyone give a thumbs-down for this great effort??? 😡😡😡
I love watching these old videos, I miss even Rupp was a beast
I love how that track was the Boston university track and that's the track I have my 2 mile duel meets in😂😂 what a beast
Damn Naruto Uzumaki commentating 9:20
verycoyman thought the same thing
Had me laughing for quite some time 😂
I don’t get it
Naughty B you’ll only understand if you’ve watched Naruto
Naughty B Naruto would always say “Believe it!” when he would put his mind to something and someone would doubt him (everyone doubted naruto)
The last pacer could have moved out of the way about one lap earlier or juat about cuz that's exactly what took off the WR.
Samir Lakhouiri nah he wouldn’t of beat it anyway
No, Rupp was totally wasted. Was not really close to challenging the world record. If the pacer moved a lap earlier Rupp would have likely run a bit slower.
No. He tried to pick it, he couldn't, the WR was blown weeks before he knew it was. Don't forget how crucial a rabbit is for the morale, and a whole lap alone is a lot of loneliness.
The pacers did an amazing job.
@@lcberchtold1208 the world will end heifer anyone gets close to Daniel komens world record
That's incredible how a guy on my high school meet got a 9:26 on forest ground
8:07 and the next best was 8:51? Damn that kid is good!
Well he is a double Olympic medallist.
Jay J. He’s like in his 30s, not a kid
I heard 8:09 as the original but I could be wrong.
Also, blood doping.
my brother went to highschool with a guy who ran 8:51 in highschool, so really just a slow field in, especially at that level
the high school 3200 state winner in Iowa this year would've got last place by just half a second that's insane
I love the commentators. They always bring the hype. They are like the mean Gene and Jerry Lawler of the track world.
That was DOPE!
This is a throw back of a throw back.
My biggest question about this is why Birgen didn’t finish the race. He made it to 2400m like 2 seconds behind Rupp. Could have easily run like 8:12.
Fr
Imagine running a 4:03 mile and then running it again 😂
Watch the 2008 Beijing Olympics final 5000m
Imagine running a 3:58 mile at the end of a 5k race at the Olympics
I don’t think I’d ever be fast enough to run an American record, but I’d be honored to pace a bit of it
I got a 2 mile today,wish me luck
How'd it go?
And???
?
Galen Rupp is a great runner. BTW, a year later, Farah broke the great world record.. as he hurled himself raggedly over the line in 8:03.40.
Their all "Dopers" so grow up and learn the truth.
@@jeffreykicia6534 They're* and most all pro athletes dope. He didn't deny that
@@austinc1096 Show me concrete Proof that any of the "alleged athletes" admitted to doping or unlawful drug use to enhance performance?
@@jeffreykicia6534 check biking, bodybuilding powerlifting, or pretty much major sport that requires physical conditioning. There are a lot of people who take steroids, talk about it on youtube, and then go on to pass the tests. Most tests are easy to fake. I don't have a list of pro runners but check olympics and you see plenty of runers.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doping_at_the_Olympic_Games#Disqualified_3
tbh i don't know all that much about running scandals except I heard about salazar. Really the thing is that if someone with talent takes them and hides it from the drug test, how can natural athletes hope to compete on talent alone when they have competitors on talent & drugs.
@@jeffreykicia6534 There are so many people on steroids who claim to be natural in the fitness industry that it is insane.
Wow i was so proud of myself when i ran 1 mile in 8:11 but this man ran 2 of them in 4 seconds less time
I can’t see any Americans coming close to any of the AR’s Galen set. Indoor 5k, 3k, 2 mile, outdoor 10k, no ones even close to him in the half or full. This man is the American GOAT and it’s not even close
Agree
@@BlueBeardie “they run clean” yeah good luck with that ☠️ Galen’s allegations are every bit as logical as accusing Grant of doping. Don’t forget, Grant has a teammate that actually got caught. No one at the Oregon Project ever got caught.
Also, no one could’ve predicted Grant’s insane progression over the last 2 years, which is why it’s sus. When I wrote this, no one was breaking 13, no one was running sub 3’55, no one was running sub 7’35. Barely any Americans had even run close to sub 27’10. We’re not even factoring in super shoes/super spikes 😂 and if people think they don’t make a difference they’re insane. The amount of extra training you can do with Vaporfly’s on your feet is wild. Remember, Galen was running 100 miles a week on an underwater treadmill because that was the best way they could find to increase volume of work without causing more damage. Now the shoes and spikes are doing it. We’re in a difference era now. However, my point with Galen in the half or full still stands. Maybe someone could snipe him in a half marathon but no American is beating him head to head in a marathon.
Same pacer for 1 mile AR that guy is awsome
His post race 5x1 mile work was sick
Why don't the pacer just compete himself? Looks like a Good runner.
Brian Dao if only it was that simple lmao. if he could've, he would've.
Actually it is pretty simple, the answer is money. They get paid to run as pacers. In other races they run to win or place, but if you make your living running and you can make some money running as a pacer for someone's record attempt, why not.
Bethwell Birgen is a fantastic runner from Kenyan, but not nearly as fast as Galen Rupp. He's paid to be a pacer, so there's no point if he finishes the race or not.
He would likely tire before the finish at that pace. People pace for better runners all the time.
@RunFor OurLives I doubt it
Awesome 👌 well done 👏
This is DOPE!
😂😂
BELIEVE IT!
one of the best americanos!
That’s that Prednisone kick 🦵
I love pacers. They know exactly where to be every lap
"LANE ONE BACK!"
"He's lickin' his chops."
I can easily imagine running the first lap in 1 minute. 8th lap in 1 minute? Insane
Here I am completing the same in 18mins.
Dude is doing this in even less than half of my time
I didn't think that there was any non-metric world record still recognized by the federations with the exception of 1 mile...
Hell yeah he’s an Oregon kid
Another incredible run and I'm yelling at this phone...

I'm a sophomore, and my best pace for the 2 mile is barely under 12 minutes. Man I need to get in their shape lol.
Please give me some tips..my race is just 1 month ahead..I am in just 12.30 at 2 mile
that’s literally around my 1 mile time im out💀

In here cause RUclips recommended it after I watched a video of Alberto getting banned.
I run the 2 mile for track and to see that it’s crazy THATS SOME PEOPLES MILE

Wow these guys make my 13 minutes look like I'm walking it
The video length is a hood two mile
To think that the American high school 3200m record is 8:34 is crazy, less than 30 seconds off the best of the best...
And the world record is 7:58...

That looked painful even in the first lap

Last 4 runners : Are we a joke to you ? 😒
I can't stop looking at their odd - coloured shoes
Rhys Nichols inr
I don’t understand why there’s an extra 18 metres?? Is 2 miles not just an even 3200 metres? Meaning a perfect 16 laps exactly from where they started?
N J no, 2 miles is a tad over 3200 metres. One miles is actually 1609 metres, but it’s usually rounded in track meets
So what do the pacers do? Like they weren’t in the race?
Can someone explain to me pacers? Like I get the idea but do they volunteer to do it or are they asked to do it cuz the coach knows they don’t have a shot at competing for 1st
And he’s doping
Why the last pacer left the race? He could easily stay in 2nd position, because nobody was even close.
Can someone please tell me why did those 2 runners at the starting leave the race......were they just tired or is it something else??
they were pace makers, they were paid to help Rupp keep on pace for a set distance and then drop out
Why did the others drop out?
believe it! lol we have a naruto watcher
I’m happy with my 6:30 1 mile, I only ran to lose weight :|
God there’s too much ads
Can someone explain this over runner and purpose.
Galen rupp is an amazing doper
im not in bad shape....but right now an 8:07 ONE mile isn't easy
How old are you? I ran a time very similar to that in 6th grade
I'm very proud of you son
Yes, yes a 8:07 mile is super easy if you run atleast a bit. Now sub 5 min mile that takes some hard and structured training.
Then you are in bad shape...
crni_tekac yeah it takes actual training to get close to 5
why is the track so small (different than the ones most track events are on)?
Yolanda Mai this is an indoor track which is 200m, an outdoor track is 400m
Wolf ohhh thanks!
GOOD GRIEF! How you gonna LAP top-tier runners!?!?😀 AMAZING! I'm watching this for the 6th time with this big, goofy grin on my face! 😁 This guy's form and drive are PHENOMENAL! Anyone who has ever run these longer track distances (1400 to 10,000 meter) knows how HORRIBLE it can be! Your lungs are on FIRE, your legs feel like lead and EVERY fiber of your being is screaming, "STOP! WE CAN'T TAKE THIS $#!+ ANYMORE!"😣😵But, you FORCE yourself through you sheer GUT-WRENCHING determination to PRESS ON as FAST you can! Ah...good times!😅
Why is that second pack even running?
👏🏻🥇
Damn bruh that’s just ridiculous I could prob run around a 10:40 two mile. I’ve never run it competitively but my one mile is a 4:56 so I figure I could do two 5:20s
Lil Tone It’s definitely possible, I currently run a 4:51 with a 10:28 2-Mile, and you’ve definitely got the time and training for it!
Question...can the pacers win? Like, if that pacer at the end kept going, could he have won? How does that work?
I’m so confused about what’s going on ? Can someone please explain? Why did that “ pacer “ guy to stop running at around 4 min? And why did they other runners just let the winner pass by them.
Man the commentators really took something away from these guys, hyped them up for world record pace the whole time
I was thinking the last pacer would have finished.
