    I appreciate and admire Rupp being private throughout his career. However, I do think it has made him an easy target for people to dislike him and make judgements. From the very little we see, he's a humble and incredible guy who outworks everybody. And there is no way Mike Smith would have taken him on if he was doping.

      Absolutely right. It’s really interesting to hear him. Hopefully he’ll be open to sharing his perspective more and more as he works with Mike Smith.

      When you sign a big contract with Nike, you can’t speak out. You’re a corporate athlete and you must act as so or lose your sponsorships

      @@Baker4life777 the Ingebrigtsens have a reality tv show in Norway. Mo Farrah was always a character on and off the track. It wasn’t Nike.

      @@stupud16 there is more leeway for athletes to express themselves. 10 years ago it was difficult to speak out as a pro athlete

    AlSal and Galen were a great team going back to his HS days but AlSal came across as the mouthpiece. I dunno, maybe he thought he was protecting Galen but I think American distance running would've benefited to hear more of him in his own words like we did with Hall and Centro, for example. Exposure is good. Look at stars from other sports like the NBA, Tennis or soccer.

    My pr so far for 3 miles is 18:01 so Ik how he feels. I will break 18 next season!!

      For him it was aolut the World Stantard set at at 27:30 I doubt him running that time ever again.
      Still he is the best long distance runner the US has ever had (silver in London 2012 OlYmpics🤯)
      Btw good luck at breaking 18
      I currently wanna break 15 at 5.000m and work my way down to 8:30 for 3.000m for the U20 World Championship stantard

    2:07 wow yes exactly, this is why a lot of runners with pro aspirations come up short, this mindset can take you to the 1% but not push you over the edge to the .01%

      Spiked during the race. Very common in a crowded distance race.

    He should drop back down and do some 10ks. He did well at the trials and that was based on marathon training.

      @@marka.meyers538 nah man ryan hall was never consistent, dude dropped out of a olympic marathon. Was never great at the track. His only good race was Boston which isn't even ratified. Galen has set american records and competed at the top for years

      @@marka.meyers538Ryan hall was only ok at the marathon and wasn’t good at any other distance, only reason he ran fast in the marathon was because Boston was downhill and there was a massive tailwind.

    Athletes are compelled to dope (cheat) in order to compete. Add fame, fortune, pressures, etc to the mix and there you have it.

      Another black eye for track athletes. It appears their approach is: I have to dope in order to compete; therefore worth the risk.

      do u really think Mike Smith would take Rupp under him if he doped? then if he was caught using dope, wouldnt they have caught him ever, bc he wasnt, and still hasnt failed... a lot of the 2012 and 2016 dopers were caught bc they froze the pee and then tested in recent years with new tech and guess what, galen still wasnt stripped of his medals... he's clean
