Wasn't there a whole setup with hidden owl and playing Song of Soaring 66 times which was used in any% before SRM was discovered?
The purpose of that strat was to open the Debug menu to give yourself a whole bunch of items, so it wouldn't work for low%
It's also exclusive to Wii U, which is cringe

1. Why not just use the debug menu to take the items away from yourself after using them? If you never collected them legitimately and they are not in your inventory at the end, hopefully that counts?
2. Some of the items on the list here are prerequisites to others, such as the Zora Mask to get one of the remains. Maybe some prerequisites can be skipped by directly giving the later item?
3. The strat was doing some sort of out of bounds memory write where each Song of Soaring incremented the address, or something like that. Why not just keep incrementing until you overwrite some memory which causes a wrong warp?
it’s is considered a “major glitch” alongside SRM and can’t be used for 15 item low%. SRM can do everything debug menu can but better

Really dumb question but, if a wrong warp were to be found to skip needing to raise the turtle, why not just try to find a wrong warp that takes us straight to the moon?
Or if that's not feasible, one of the rooms that you get sent into if you give masks to the kids in the moon, like those mini challenge areas, as surely being sent to one of those and then completing it as intended would just send you to the moon still?
typically, we don’t have full control as to where a wrong warp takes us in a non SRM setting. But yes, if we could warp to the moon we would do that instead

I’m curious why 5-item low% is a category when it’s currently common to beat the game with only 2 items, and entirely possible to beat the game with only 1.

The video claims that the culture surrounding MM speedruns has always distinguished between runs that use SRM and runs that don't. However, SRM was not understood until 2019. Are we suppose to assume that runners preemptively knew to separate the two?

The runners gazed beyond the veil of real life and saw in the code that SRM would be discovered in 2019. As such, they distinguished it well before then.

@@houraisheperd9721 my only argument is that philosophically, it's not like SRM was happening before it was discovered*(we don't talk about the goron pot) so in a sense there was always a distinction... we just didn't know there was anything on the other side
I assume he meant once it was discovered the consensus was always to keep them separate, but the said it in a way that suggested it always existed so it sounded a little confusing
