    I have Liftoff, Velocidrone, FPV Freedive, DRL, Uncrashed and Tryp (and the FPV mod for GTA). I use Velocidrone daily, Liftoff once in a while, and barely touch the others at all. The weekly races in Velocidrone and the multitude of tracks set it apart IMO. I don't care about the graphics, once I'm flying (especially if I'm going hard) I don't even notice them. I feel like great graphics are for the people watching, not the person playing. As long as I can see the next gate the graphics are fine. Velocidrone is also far less demanding on the graphics card, and before I got one I was able to play with great frame rates using the integrated graphics of an AMD 5600G.

      Hey man how do you think the physics in velocidrone compare to uncrashed? I find it compared to my real FPV drone extremely „floaty“ and „drifty“ even after every possible tweak in the settings. I would only switch for a simulator with the most realistic physics as I find playing pointless only to the extend that I actually learn to fly my quad irl better. Uncrashed feels weird and unrealistic. Thanks in advance 👌🏼

    Liftoff has a version just for micro drone that has a much more interactive and progressive training mode. I've been using it trying to psych myself up for the tiny hawk 3.

    You are absolutely wrong. You obviously haven’t used VelociDrone since the update this year. Hands down, VelociDrone is better than liftoff. Liftoff ranks as number 8 in the 9 simulators that I personally fly daily. It all boils down to the physics and VelociDrone has nailed it, as you said self.
    I started flying in January of 2023 and have logged over 1000 hours of simulator time (not exaggerating at all) and I didn’t need a tutorial section built in to the game, as that is just a waste of time.
    If a person is serious about getting into FPV and simulators, they should be doing a ton of research on how to fly. RUclips has thousands of videos covering this subject.
    Now, you failed to mention track/map editors…, which, again, VelociDrone wins. There are so many map creators(myself included) uploading maps to VelociDrone, regularly. Many pilots create real world environments to practice freestyle, cinematic, long range and racing in.
    If you’re a graphic snob that wants tutorials built in, keep flying liftoff and the rest of the other, garbage SIMS, that don’t really translate that well to flying IRL.
    If a person wants to excel in fpv, they should be learning to fly in at least 9 different simulators ( they all handle differently) and VelociDrone should be there main one

    Training programs are a bit of a mistake imo. Just go into freeflight mode and figure it out on the sticks until muscle memory kicks in. I've got the better part of 100 hours sticktime, beat most people I encounter in online races in Liftoff and DRL, and I absolutely cannot even finish the DRL training mode. The limiters and disabling of parts of the drone just messes with your head, sets bad habits. A newbie would be better served by watching a couple youtube videos about the basics and then working it out on their own in freeflight.

    • @BrodieReed
      @BrodieReed  Год назад

      Possibly! It's definitely a different story for everyone however, like for me, without a training program I wouldn't have actually attempted to learn FPV way back when! Definitely worth a shot for anyone struggling to find a way, also worth a shot giving your method a try if other ways don't work out so well ✌️

    0:23 FPV Skydive (Free, freestyle not great, racing visual indicators, training is text-heavy but good for noobs)
    1:10 FPV Freerider ($7, boring, worse than FPV Skydive, waste of money)
    1:48 DRL Sim ($12, the one he used the most, fun, good physics, but floaty compared to real world flying, racing is easy with visual indicators, onboarding and training)
    2:57 TRYP FPV ($20, only played once, built-on unreal engine 5 gaming engine, not good on Macbook M1, training program is very difficult)
    4:21 Liftoff ($30, Slipstream pack for $5 for chasing, trucks, etc. fun, good graphics, best physics. Racing arrows are confusing not fun. Freestyling very fun. Training not good).
    6:16 VelociDrone ($32 + $9 for extra pack. Freestyle mode is very realistic, everything else about Sim not good).
    7:01 Best in Category Summary

    Easiest to Use: Liftoff

    Totally agree, love liftoff, and recently got Tryp which I am loving because those maps are an utter blast to fly. That is my only downside to liftoff is the number of maps is pretty low and I wish most were bigger. I wish they would allow for people on steam workshop to make actual full maps and not just putting down obstacles in existing maps.

    I do not agree with one of your conclusions. You say that if you're a newbe, the best choice for training is DRL. But i would definitely say that if you want to train, you just need realistic drone behaviour. And that is velocidrone by far.

  • @ixamraxi
    @ixamraxi 9 месяцев назад

    I own almost all of the sims and I tend to favor velocidrone for practicing. 1. Its got soooo many maps because people can make their own. 2. If you're learning to fly, physics is key. 3. The graphics are not as important for actual flying, accuracy is. In most cases the camera / display you use to fly isn't great anyways (well, unless you're willing to spent a thousand dollars plus for your setup). 4. I feel like it translates better to real world flying, but that's my own experience.

    Hi Brodie, I tend to agree that DRL is probably the best for a beginner. That sim’s training was my first time ever using an fpv remote.
    Tryp is what I use the most however, and I am also on a MacBook Pro m1. I definitely wish I had a better PC to use for it but I have a couple tips that have helped my enjoy my experience more -
    Make sure to play on an external monitor, even better if you can close your laptop.
    I’ve also found that Quarry is probably the most optimized map. I average about 45fps vs the usual 20-30 I get on the native screen.
    I think if you have a beast of a gaming PC gaming then Tryp would probably be where your money is best spent. They have a pretty awesome discord community as well.

    I love the DRL sim. Have you ever checked out the DCL The Game sim? Also a great sim/game/experience. And then there is Tiny Whoop GO - I think it is a free game and I have flown it once or twice but other than that not much experience with it.
    DRL and DCL both have a neat quality to them - a kind of "other worldly" quality that fpv flying has to some extent already. Something about the colors they chose, the tracer lines behind the quads and also pointing along the tracks for me is very helpful. I also have Liftoff which is great to practice with, but not as visually stunning.

      @@BrodieReed Yea, so I am definitely NO expert - I am a full on shit pilot - but I can fly and I like these two a lot.
      Anyway over on Steam there are a few other titles such as FPV Skydive (made by Orca goggles I think) Uncrashed TRYP, AI Drone Simulator, FPV Logic, and a few others that I can't think of. off hand at the moment A few of them are using some of the latest graphics technology and look very realistic visually. Easily could be convinced I was watching real life footage - for the most part but yea really close. What I like about DCL/DRL is the fantasy feeling of some of the tracks, when quads throw off glowing trailers and some of the track layouts are bananas and so much fun to try to beat.
      By the way regarding awesome track locations there is a salt mine somewhere in Europe where frick'n Red Bull set up an amazing indoor or rather in cavern track that you have to look up if you are into that aspect of things. Look it up on Ummagawd's YT channel, search for salt mine. Tommy - the owner of the channel - seems like a chill guy and that location was amazing!
      I do not have any experience with those titles but thought I would mention them as perhaps one of them will become you favorite! Cheers
