The Gators of the mid to late-80s were victims of bad fortune with being on probation for nearly the entire 3/4 of the decade!! This team could have been serious national title contenders in both 1984 and 1985. Neal Anderson was a beast. The offense was just as high flying as Spurrier's teams. Emmitt Smith should have received serious consideration for the Heisman in 1989, and could have possibly won it had they not been on probation then.
Went to school with Kerwin was a couple years older watched him help mayo win a state championship he was always a good player had a lot of heart the whole team did the state champion year and thAT translated to his games at UF AND HIS WHOLE CAREER WAS GOOD player and person he came from a great family all of them were and are good people .
I wonder if there's a Mandela effect for this game. It was seen live on TV by nobody because the TV ban from the probation wouldn't be lifted until after the regular season ended, but I bet quite a few folks could swear they saw Bell's heroics.
I was a sophomore at the time.I was at the game as well.On the way out, an Auburn fan was whining : " ONE POINT.You won by one point". Oh, precious memories.
I recall the TV commentators for this game saying that Auburns D looked like they lost alot of confidence when Kerwin Bell took the field. One commentator said Auburn looked 'scared'...
I was on the second row behind the Gators bench for this game. When Kerwin came out on the field you could see Ricky Nattiel smile and hear Kerwins nuts clank. The WTF look on Auburn fans afterward was precious. Oh, Brent Fullwood was a beast.
great video Neil as always i spend all of my free time watching your videos this game is always one of my favorite games to watch thanks for uploading all of the Gators games you do and as always GO Gators
Kerwin Bell earned his spot on the UF walk of lore that day. There with Nat Moore, Lee McGriff, Wilber Marshall, the 3 Heisman winners, Carlos Alvarez, Jack Youngblood....
I’m a ‘Bama fan, but I love these videos. I just love to watch some classic SEC football though, not matter who. Also good to see Auburn go down. Roll Tide!
I find it hard to believe that they were ranked 21 at the time they played Auburn? I am a Gator fan. Go Gators. If I remember right I think they were 3-4 going into the Game.
Nah, Spurrier brought the blue back because we looked too much like Clemson. The all-orange unis look pretty good, though, with the pale blue throwback helmet.
00:46 Ricky Mulberry INT. Out here tailgating with the legend himself
Listened on radio… went crazy when we pulled this game out!!
What a great game!

Greatest. Comeback. In. Gator. History.
Awesome Ending
Heard this live on Armed Forces Radio in Sicily. The only game I got that year live or otherwise.
I never seen this Florida Gators football before back 35 years ago since 1986.
WTH...."before back 35 years ago since 1986." When before/back/ago/since are used in 4 out of 5 consecutive words, it gets really, really confusing.
That was a heck of a team back then with Kerwin Bell at QB, Ricky Nattiel at WR, Louis Oliver at Safety, and Jarvis Williams at DE.
Jarvis Williams was a safety, not DE.
That was real football then you got your head taken off QB was free game.

I was a Senior in 1986 and was at this game; never forget it!

Only thing about the video, Florida was definitely unranked when this game was played.
I was on the second row behind the Gators bench for this game. When Kerwin came out on the field you could see Ricky Nattiel smile and hear Kerwins nuts clank. The WTF look on Auburn fans afterward was precious. Oh, Brent Fullwood was a beast.
Steve Pearson Best comment ever! Oh how I long for the days of the Throwin' Mayo'an.
how was the kick at 9:35 good wtf
I was at this game. I'll never forget it!
Kerwin Bell, injured and hobbling around. Ricky Nattiel a bum shoulder. Those guys did it with pure heart that day; I'll never forget it.

As an Alabama fan, who remembers the 1984 Alabama-Auburn game, I always think of this 1986 UF-Auburn game as the “Robert McGinty Game.”
Kerwin Bell earned his spot on the UF walk of lore that day. There with Nat Moore, Lee McGriff, Wilber Marshall, the 3 Heisman winners, Carlos Alvarez, Jack Youngblood....
Bells first start was 1984 not 1986
Glad you enjoyed it
Redemption for Mcginty who missed a 42 yarder that would have beaten Alabama in 1984.

Bell was a QB in Toronto of the CFL .....he was pretty good but I think the Canadian 3 down game took adjusting too.
I was there. It's still the best game I ever saw live.

Gators were unranked and were huge underdogs. That must be a mistake on CG.
When this game came on my parents were minors😂
Florida should return to these home uniforms and only wear the blue jerseys once a year or so.
DIMP11 so we can look like Clemson ? No thanks
AGREED...

9:38, Auburn goes up 17-0.
I was 3 when this awesome game took place lol
11:19 Damn!!!!
