- Just a week before his debut test match, when playing for Bombay Presidency against MCC, a dangerous ball by Morris Nickels ended up injuring Vijay Merchant's chin. But that injury, instead of becoming his weakness, it became his strength as he started working on his gameplay more after the incident. In the 1936 India's tour of England, Vijay Merchant was the batsman to score the highest runs from our team and is considered to be the best player of the Indian Cricket team during those times. Watch Mid Wicket Tales with Naseeruddin Shah to know more.

But sir, Bradman himself Geographically was from the East. Australia is the Eastern most country. And America is the Western most country
But Australia is a part of Western Society as its culture is influenced by UK and USA .
@4:11 to 4:41 ALL OUR TODAY'S PLAYERS NEED TO WATCH THIS🙏
Most unlucky batsman of India of all time..played only 10 tests...I am impressed by his English..even modern Indian player can’t speak like this
He was scholar 😊 Imagine his record had he player 80 or 100 tests for India🙄
what is the connection between english skill with batting skill?
The genius legend. By casting his vote i.f.o. Ajit Wadekar as a captain.n changed the future of Indian Cricket. 👍👍👍
I think Sunil Gavaskar is the Next Best Opening Batsman that time in 1960's
Gavaskar debuted in 1971...
Technically perfect batsman
Legend
Nice information.I heard beautiful commentary on Radio given by him.
Haan bht bdhiya team thee...
@epic channel... This is really good it would really great if u share more of different players of era... Thanks
There is a saying about Vijay merchant that a century and not out in first inning and a century and not out in second inning, our forgotten heros.
The great video
शानदार वीडियो सर " जयहिन्द "
❤️ insightful
Art of opening batting
Vijay merchant- leaving the ball..
Virendra sehwag- hitting the ball...😉
Vijay Merchant- Opening means leaving the ball
Virender Sehwag-Opening means hitting the ball hard
Conclusion- I do not know how to do both of these😂😂😂😂
So only sehawag never hit a century in England in test
@@sanketkulkarni2390 He did hit a 105 or 106 in 2002
@@yashrungta8742 yeah my wrong but has very less avg
Who is the other man, than naseer, makarand and ?
GOAT🐐
Who is goat
World War II ruined the careers of several great cricketers! Penchant for Royalty (Kings and Princes) was also the bane of Indian cricket!
Isn't India, west of Australia? Shouldn't Merchant be the Bradman of the West then?
no the earth is round
At last he is taking about Sunil Gavaskar sir
I THOUGHT ONLY Mohinder Amernath , Gavskar , Dravid and Pujura were like that
And then came Sehwag who used to hit the new ball instead of leaving them
Highest First Class Average
Sir Don Bradman 95
Vijay Merchant 71
George Headley 68 of West Indies .
All three lost 6 years of their career to WW2 .
While Bradman was spotted early in developed cricketing nation , Vijay was playing at a time when Kings and Princes ruled Indian cricket. Not all these princes were like Ranji , Duleep and Pataudis and used their influence negatively. The greatest legacy of Vijay merchant is He was the first in line of great Bombay Batters .
Headley got 69.86.
He might have gotten more if he didn't lose his old form during his later Years.
Before WW-2 his Avg was nxt only to Bradman's.
The guy who averaged 60+ from a Debut Country.
And when did Sadu Shinde make. 1000 runs record
In English.. Else mention somewhere that it's Hindi video!
Australia is in East only 😂
so is india, to the britishers... originators of the game and dominant force back then
@@shivamb-s8k but for them Bradman was also from East na😂
@@sankalpsrivastava4385 geographically u are right...but historically british considered australia not as a separate country but their own territory in the east.australian early settlers being from british isles and only white immigration policy till 70s proves that.So bradman was plain simple bradman...but vijay merchant or zaheer abbas becomes bradman of the east.similar like if u have a cmama in ur own city,u call them mama...but one from dilli is dilli vaale mama.
also we dont know how the maps were centered during those times, according to this map australia is in west and india in east for britishers:

faltu baatein karwa lo inse...Zaheer Abbas ko bolte the Asian Bradman...ab isko tum bradman of east bol lo
He is talking about the Bradman era.
