  • Leaders of elite universities are under fire over testimony they gave to Congress this week about antisemitism on college campuses. Marc Lamont Hill, a professor and host of “UpFront” on Al Jazeera, and Alan Dershowitz, a prominent attorney - and Harvard Law professor emeritus - join “CUOMO” to debate. Dershowitz says the president of Harvard “has to leave.”

      when universities relegate and lower their standards - *so much* , as a result of affirmative action, you get mindless lunatics like the Harvard "president" f-king things up in every way imaginable because of her legendary incompetence; that institution's/Harvard's reputation is now but a dilapidated mess and a ruin of its former self... The biggest cancer plaguing academia is 1. wokeness/woke culture and 2. affirmative action

    Let's be really specific: I have seen footage at Harvard of pro-Palestinian protestors surrounding a Jewish student and preventing his free movement. I think we can all agree that shouldn't happen, and at Harvard you would expect, minimally, some sort of analysis of the campus environment to discover why it happened.

      Furthermore, Marc didn’t blatantly call for “context” regarding the abhorrent offerings of the students themselves.
      But he did unequivocally find “context” with the testimony of the presidents.
      I don’t know for sure, but I don’t think Marc was asking for “context” for anyone supporting the “free speech” rights of those malignant anti American Charlottesville Virginia “Unite The Right” protestors that led to Heather Heyer losing her life.

    I would argue that not only does the Harvard President need to leave, but so does all of her support staff and senior management. It is not just the leader, but those who are suppose to be leaders, have supported her positions, and have also failed to protect the individual rights of all students. Not having taken any direct actions or having any direct action plans in the works is an obvious FAILURE OF LEADERSHIP. Not being able to say that the kind of religious hate speech speech is against the institution's code of conduct, yet alone being anti-American, is a FAILURE OF CITICENSHIP. Truth be told, I used to hold Harvard in high esteem. However, in the end, a degree is just a piece of paper. I value my family, my neighbors, all "churches," and the Constitution more. Obviously, Harvard, among other colleges and universities, need Congressional oversight, especially on how BILLIONS of US tax dollars are being spent. MORE THAN JUST SAYING...

    Marc Lamont Hill has the video of a Jewish student being physically blocked and surrounded while he praises the words of Claudine Gay expressing her very very high standards of protecting Jews on campus. Watch this and understand that you are dealing with an ideologue who has zero sense of shameless Trust him and his fellow travelers at your own risk.

      He only stated that there hasn't been a call for "genocide" on these campuses and also stipulated that any sort of behavior that was highlighted in that video was that he opposed it. You guys like to cherry-pick what this man says, like it's a buffet while adding your own conclusions.

      It was a loaded question and the premise was false. Intifada does not mean extinction of Jews. Nothing antisemitic about it. Intifada is about resistance against oppression, in this case the oppressors being Israel. Not jews.

    • @Silence_Duder_Gooder
      @Silence_Duder_Gooder 7 месяцев назад

      @@skaaaaaaa, there's quite a bit of conflation going on here and in that hearing as well. Pro-Palestinian protesters chanting for an "intifada" isn't antisemitic or a call for violence against Jews; it's a call for resistance against the Israeli government.
      Ms. Stefanik knew this is the case, or she was just ignorant about it. But I believe she knew that was the case. And what she did there was take the question and put it into a vacuum so that it would appear to look antisemitic if those three women didn't answer her in a very specific way. And those three women also didn't help their cause in any way because they never elaborated on their stance. But I imagine if they had done that, Ms. Stefanik would have interrupted them from doing so, because that sort of necessary nuance or context would ruin her underlying motivation to silence one side of this debate.
      We've seen this before, when DWS did it to Matt Taibbi during a couple of hearings over the _Twitter Files_ revelations. We heard DWS say, "It's a 'yes or no' answer, Mr. Taibbi," multiple times. And in that type of exchange, there is no room for nuance or context to be given, and that's by design, so that the side that's badgering the witness can achieve their desired political result. And just like in this case, that case also had context that needed to be highlighted because the question was so one-sided.
      Nobody at those rallies advocated for the extermination, or "genocide," of Jews. Nobody at those rallies was caught on audio calling for the genocide of Jews. Because if they had, that audio would have been presented at that hearing as evidence. But since there wasn't any such audio presented, that tells me that Ms. Stefanik and her side of things were acting in a disingenuous manner.
      If you would like to hear a more in-depth report about what I wrote above, just go to the RUclips search engine and type the words, "System Update with Glenn Greenwald," then after that type in the words, "Ivy Leagues Fold on Free Speech After Congress Shakedown," and listen to what Glenn said about it.
      Hey, you may disagree with my take and Glenn's, but if you do, please elaborate for me why you believe that. Then maybe we can come to some sort of common understanding about it.
      Peace to you and yours.

    It's not so much what the person says as much as it is what the other person receives. The person who says such can be belligerent, use microphone, yell, advance, swarm etc which could provoke extremely strong emotions in the receiver. Thus, if one insinuates genocide even once, never mind repeatedly, that could trigger a strong, safety emotion in the receiver, making the environment an unsafe place for learning
