Like the tarp trick. Thanks for showing us how easy camping is.
Good way to scratch the paint up though... Paint is surprisingly soft and prone to scratches (worked in a auto-body shop for 10+years). Just fwiw.. to each their own. 🙂
Y in red looks so beautiful
Isn’t it though? We were hesitant until we saw it in person... that sold the color immediately.
Did you ever reveal how many miles were left after waking up from camp mode?
Lol nope
Try using magnets to hold the tarp to the car instead of ropes and stakes. Domino shaped ceramic magnets are pretty cheap on Amazon. I do this to keep my car cool when parked in the sun using a Mylar coated tarp.
Mechaya.Alta great tip! Thanks so much!
I think on the Tesla it's more difficult with magnets, isn't it? Because the body is aluminium as far as I know and aluminium is not magnetic.
You will able to charge your car while you are sleeping in the car with AC/ heat on?
We were not with one of the trips. We had enough to get through the night while having a 30/40min trip away from the closest charger. If you’re at a normal campsite with electric hookup you can stay plugged in all night and actually gain miles!
I saw your video showing you cutting your foam. Did those modifications work? What did you learn about camping in the Mod Y?
The foam mods worked, we were able to get more AC in the back from the backseat vents. We learned that the tarp is key for keeping the sun out, with that beautiful glass roof. I would recommend having a small tent to keep your stuff outside the car would be good- when it rained on us we packed our stuff, besides our cooler, in the front seats because we didn’t bring anything to keep it all covered. Those were the major learnings. We are doing another trip soon during some “cold” Florida weather so more to come!
@@themobleyminute1951 I saw somebody makes a tent that attaches to the rear lift gate, but that will keep it open, rendering the AC/heat from camp mode worthless. Who wants to camp without A/C? Only a savage would do that these days... lol
Tent at formytesla.com
I'm not associated with them and have never seen the tent. Elon won't let me spend any money until I pay for my MYP.
What’s the purpose of camp mode?
Y’all are so cute! I love the channel name. If you become famous don’t forget about your day 1 friends... you forgot to mention how many miles you were left with in the morning.
We actually added miles on both nights! Tonight will be the real test because there’s no electric hookup at the site in Providence.
We gained about 20ish miles during the night!
How many miles did you wake up too?
Because we were plugged into a small 120v we actually gained miles! The next video we post will have a true unplugged first test.
@@themobleyminute1951 seemed to go down in the video (251 to 250 miles), good that it picked up through the night 😅
Where did you get that car cover? Do you have any link or specific name of that? Thanks in advance
It’s actually just a plain grey tarp. We’re working on an internal solution right now so we can move away from the tarp.
@@natekaterate1881 what are the dimensions of that tarp though?
@@katelinvannortwick440 sorry the reply is a month later!! Tarp Cover 10X12 Silver/Black... www.amazon.com/dp/B004DDWZBW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
How tall are you? Wondering if I would fit at 6'1
I’m 6’ exactly and have plenty of space so you should be good to go!
Do you have a link to that sweet ass light!?
Heck yes! It’s a hue go! g.co/kgs/VT3QUy
Sweet! Just ordered one!
