Just saw one on the road today for the first time. Even more wild looking in person than pictures.
It was drawing 280kW before it stopped. Perhaps the truck is trying to get 350 and the charger is trying to get it there until it throws some kind of fault. Then once the truck gets to the slower part of the charge curve, it no longer tries to pull over the limit.
And just another example of why I'd never own an EV. . . Who wants to have a vehicle where shite like this pops out of nowhere and eff's things up!

@@namelessbrown new gas cars aren't going to be allowed to be sold by 2035 in California. In some countries they are going the same route. The gas car is in its final stage of life
@@TheSonyExperienceI love EVs, but I don't see how that timeline is going to happen. So much infrastructure needs to be in place to work this, and we can hardly maintain what we have. A lot can happen in that decade for sure, but infrastructure wise, we haven't left the starting gate yet, and time is ticking in that deadline.

@@steveallwine1443 Two things. First I am not sure if they can start collecting data until the 10 degree rear wheel steering is in place. Especially where RWS is in action.
The other is that data from a few thousand vehicles is mouse nuts compared to what is needed.

These charging issues have been with the Cybertruck all along. Superchargers don't have these issues with other Teslas. Ever. Its curve and charging in general needs to be worked on as a whole.
Ironically it charged the best on CCS Electrify America with what I’ll call the CyberCCS Adapter. Maybe Kyle should sell it.
Phantom drain is so high because the Cybertruck currently uploads automated driving snapshots for FSD training even with just mobile network active
Seeing the CT getting really good speed on Electrify America is a good thing, I’m hoping that means the EA people can handle J3000 adoption as well as moving to CCS2.

@@ultrastoat3298 ex-employees have even said sites will fall into more disrepair. Maybe sites will get fixed and upgraded and expanded but that planning will be more on the timeline of months to years.
So instead of ramping new sites (north-south routes, US highway routes (routes that aren't Interstates), and non-urban sites), they're in maintenance mode.
Would much rather both or at least a communicated plan about charging deserts.

That Cybertruck efficiency makes me happy I'm seeing a lifetime average of 263Wh/mi on my '24 Tesla Model Y long range.

The sharp angle he had the charging cable at was probably restricting the liquid cooling. That is most likely why it derated and shut off and restarted.
Leave it to you to find the vehicle's current speed limit, nicely done :)
Btw in Baja mode you can go do medium suspension at high speeds, if I'm not mistaken.

I’m really glad you emphasize the he public charging aspects in your coverage so much. My impression is from driving a model 3 and rarely using them and times have changed, the trucks and various brands really stress these more and they need to keep pushing. Can’t understand yet why they let the whole team go

On a 1900 mile road trip from Arizona to Illinois, I experienced almost no bugs splattered on the CT's windshield despite the frunk's front face being covered with them. Easy cleanup

I plan on keeping it plugged in to my home charger level 2 (240V) charger and setting the battery limit to 50%. Do you think this is the best way to keep a Tesla in long term storage? Thank you.

The one tidbit I found interesting was seeing a lot more EVs towing comment. I found that quite interesting. So you can tow with EVs. The other thing I am noticing is the times between charging appears to be around 2 hrs plus or minus. So bladder capacity must be more of a factor than battery range. I know when I travel, I usually stop for a bit of a break every 2 to 3 hours. So it seems tripping with EVs won’t be too much of an issue.
I would rather just stop 5min. for gas and be on my way. What if you were pulling a heavy trailer especially going uphill
Yea I like his videos, but none of these EV roadtrips are even remotely making me interested in buying one, if anything its doing the opposite. It appears we are still a good decade away from this even being remotely feasible.

Love the electrify stations. I just got a genesis GV70 and get it free for the duration of my lease.
It would be nice if they release an update that allows us to remove a charger along our route instead of selecting "End Trip". That way it can recalculate how much state of charge is needed to get to that station. Maybe other that using ABR, I have always wanted the ability to filter stations on a trip. Say I have a road trip planned, I want to be able to filter out any 120kw and 150kw stations and just navigate to 250kw stations. That would be so helpful along with being able to delete a station from your route without cancelling the entire planned route.
I've seen other videos where the CT will stop charging then start back up but it doesn't continue to do it over and over like yours. It could have been too much going into the battery and the BMS just stops the battery to protect it. Since you moved from one cabinet to another it still could be the entire site but one thing you could have done is take note of your trip settings with your camera. After that do a reboot of the car then plug back in to see if the fault happens again. I say take note with the camera just in case a reboot resets some trip info. At least you'd have it on camera and could do the total trip calculations later.
Just what I look forward to on a road trip, endless work and worry.

What about AC chargers at hotels? It is super convenient charging while you sleep. They should roll out way more AC. Also good for grid stability is there is bi directional charging.

Yea these EV roadtrip videos are a great deterrent for me to even remotely entertain the thought of ever owning one. Love the videos and content, but I will definitely stick to my gasser. Almost 500 miles on a tank that takes
Kyle has almost done my yearly allowable milage (8k) on his CT in a month, lol.
also DCFC in the US are cheap! in the UK most are about £0.79/kWh
And charging at your home is even cheaper depending on your state.
I live in Missouri and my daytime rate is 9 cents a kilowatt hour. Night time is 6 cents a kilowatt hour.
Charging up my Model Y LR at home is dirt cheap! Less than $7.50 even with the peak rate!
@@LordTimelord my currnet price is a fixed rate £0.24/kWh, but the plan I'm moving to ahs night time rates at £0.07/kWh making my EV go from £12.50 to £3.50 a full charge.

1:13:30 The last time I took my M3 to a place that had valet parking, I didn't even get through the gate when the valet yelled at me, "Hey, Tesla. You park over there. I don't want to drive that thing."

No anxiety… just planning the trip so you are as close to zero as possible for a faster charge.
I’ve had 5 years of international road trips BEFORE superchargers were as developed.
But your choice of course.

I had the same experience at Richfield with it stopping and starting. Mine only happened once or twice. It was in early April.
I wonder if Tesla will unlock more range in CT the way they just did with the Model Y? Maybe they want to see how 4680 performs before they release the full capacity.
I can imagine driving knowing ever car around you sees you and maybe pointing a finger. You are high-profile like a movie star.
